Evaluation Essay On Self Evaluation
Self–Evaluation CENS 303A is my third distance online course at University of British Columbia. It allowed me to learn about the history of the Holocaust, which is an event that I am not particularly familiar. Even though we might not talk about this topic often, it's still something that we must never forget. Not only did this course educate me about the timeline, historical figures involved but it also helped me understand the realm of darkness in Auschwitz concentration camps. It is true that an outsider might not understand how little value was placed on human life in those concentration camps. Through reading Holocaust survivors' memoirs however, readers can get insights on the reverence for life and recognize how human life was exterminated. The camp resembles a living laboratory. The victims lived in virtual darkness and expelled from the world. They were isolated,...show more content...
I went over texts that I found particularly interesting. Often times, subsequent readings can help take on different levels of focus such as noticing the author's tone, details, and intellectual thoughts. My favorite reading is Kluger's memoir because she had challenged my sympathies towards Holocaust survivors. A clerk saved her from gas chambers by lying to a SS guard. When I was wondering about the clerk's motive, Kluger's barbed line, "What more do you need for an example of perfect goodness?" really caught me in a surprise. Next, the self–check questions after every module are extremely helpful for preparing the midterm exam. When I failed to recall specific dates or names, the explanations from the self–check questions were excellent sources for making references. As of the web essay, I found it difficult because it forced me to revisit previous readings to look for the specific facts. I think it would be more helpful if I took more time to discuss the topic with my peers on the Get more content
Self–Evaluation As a writer I can feel myself improving, but there is still a lot of work to be done. I used to hate writing because it was not one of the things that I am strong at but now I don't mind it. Thanks to the writing lab I feel more comfortable when turning in papers because they go over the paper with you sentence by sentence. A few things that I know I need to work on and I really struggle with is fragments and comma splices. I honestly do not fully understand what they mean. For the next paper I feel as if I should do some research on how to fix those errors on my own, rather than relying on the person who edits my paper. I feel as if it would be in my best interest to find a website that explains the things I really struggle

Introduction:
In this paper I critically reflect on five different self–assessments: locus of control (LOC), emotional intelligence (EI), listening self–inventory, team member type and conflict management. Throughout my discussion, I focus on their correlations and apply the gathered information to my work–life experiences. I will also provide a systematic assessment of each of these questionnaires. This evaluation will address any possible weaknesses I had found within the tests and prepare my final conclusions based upon those final educated results. Locus of Control & Emotional Intelligence Relationship: I scored moderate on the LOC, (specifically internal LOC) and EI assessments. When evaluating these two tests I found a...show more content...
When I look back to rough days they were generally caused because I would blame an alternative to myself. For example, in my business 100 project we had one member who would not help. I was frustrated and attributed him for our poor mark. I now know I should have fired him and split up his work with the rest of the team instead of leaving it to last minute. I should have taken control of my own fate and reasoned with the emotions I was feeling at that moment. Today I feel that I have a much stronger EI and my LOC is improving subsequently.
Critical Discussion on the Emotional Intelligence Self–Assessment:
The correlation between these two surveys was clearly apparent and understandable. However, I believe my moderate score in EI in the workplace is actually quite low. Working at a pharmacy for over two and half years I feel that I have maintained a very high level of EI as per Mayer et al's (2003) definition: "set of skills concerned with the processing of emotion–relevant information and measured with ability–based scales" (p. 97). I have been extremely fustrated at times but I have always kept my composure in front of the customers. Almost all of our clientel is coming to pick up medication for their depression, sickness, pain and/or anger symptoms. Thus, the people in good mindsets are few and far between. 1) Share several examples of what you think you have learned from your participation in this seminar. Throughout this semester, I learned a great amount of information; this class became one of my favorite classes. The engaged, interactive nature of this class assisted me in learning. Participation is extremely important as it is the best way for me to learn. Bouncing of my classmate's ideas, in in–class case studies and sharing ideas with the class was beneficial to my learning. This taught me the importance of collaboration and teamwork; something that is essential to my future in nursing. I would score my participation as a 5 this semester. I attended every class, arrived early to every class, and participated in all in–class discussions /case studies. I added my input into class discussions, therefore, assisting myself, and others to participate. I learned from others; it was extremely beneficial to hear other individuals story and involvement with certain topics. For example, when my partner and I presenting on loss of a family member, we had a guest speaker. By listening and participating in the discussion about this experience, I feel that much more prepared to assist someone through this difficult grieving process. I absolutely loved participating in this class, as it truly did help me remember what I learned from this semester. Thus, due to being fully engaged, on–time, and participated in every class, I scored my participation for this semester, as a 5.
3) What other topics do you suggest for inclusion as topics for future family seminars in N412? I can't think of an additional topic to include in the curriculum for this class. All the topics that were included in this family seminar class were extremely beneficial to my learning. The broad topics allowed for flexibility in our presentations. Therefore, I feel all the topics should stay for future semesters. The topics loss of a family member, family effects of substance abuse, and communicating with families were all important topics that we will use as future nurses regardless of where

My Self-Evaluation Of Speech
This paper will discuss mine self–evaluation and do into detail about my first speech. My first speech takes place in front of my class and I have to tell a story of an experience that has happened to me. Telling a speech was a new experience for me and I embrace the challenge. A speech can have an impact on a person life and the audience can also relate a topic that is being presented. I will explore and go into the details of ethos, pathos and logos of my speech for my personal assessment. I think I did a good job presenting my ethos through my speech story. I convince my audience with my credibility through my speech and the way how talk throughout the speech. For example, throughout my whole speech, I shown my hands and did not hide my hands. By keeping my hands in plain view, it shows my audience nonverbally that I can be trusted. The volume of my voice was at a normal speaking tone and was not too low. Most of my audience was able to hear me and listen to me very clearly. I also presented myself with confidence and gave off the impression that I was prepared. For example, I had a smile and had constant eye contact with my audience throughout my speech. There was certain things that I was doing that was ineffective while I was talking. Throughout my speech, I kept saying um and was pausing at times. I did not realize how much I was saying and doing these actions. These actions are something I need to work on more when I present my public communication to my audience Get

I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself "what have I learned this semester?" and "what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?". Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self–evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.
During this semester, I have strengthened my writing by trying new writing techniques, learning about purpose, and finding new ways of combating writers block. My first essay in this class was less focused then the essays I wrote later in...show more content...
I have struggled with writer's block with often. In the past, I've learned to take breaks while writing to help alleviate symptoms of writers block; however, during the semester I have learned to carry a pad of paper with me so that I can write down idea's while they are fresh in my mind. Writing down my thoughts has helped me avoid writers block because I have a list of thoughts about the subject before I have even started writing. When I struggle less to write it improves my essay's by decreasing my stress, this can be seen in my writing. I was afflicted with writer's block while trying to write both my compare and contrast essay and my description essay, this caused me a lot of stress and caused my essay to suffer. On the other hand, when I wrote my classify and divide essay I did not have to deal with writer's block. As a result the stress level was greatly decreased and the improvement is substantial.
Although my writing has made some good progress during the course of this semester, I still some things I need to learn in order to keep improving my writing. Grammar, writing in an active voice, and building my rewrite skills are three examples of skills I need to build upon to continue to improve me writing.
Even though my grammar has improved during the progression of this class, I still have a lot to learn before my knowledge of grammar can contribute to my writing. I have never had an aptitude for

Speech to Explain: Self Evaluation
For this speech I choose to have my topic be something I have a strong personal connection to which was Rave culture, its history and practices. Choosing this to be my topic of choice I was able to be motivated in researching it and I believe my genuine interest in the topic showed in my presentation. In this self–eval I will be discussing the structure and style along with what I am taking away from this speech. First, I will be talking about the structure of my speech. When doing a speech to explain, like any other speech it's important to have a clear and organized pattern. Essentially when creating my outline for the speech I had made sure to have a clear and engaging intro and hook, meant to clearly state my theme and then jump into the topic. Unfortunately when presenting the speech I was unable to present my introduction as I would have liked and forgot to even mention my theme. I was not very effective in my introduction but knowing so at my conclusion I was sure to clearly state my theme. However,I believe my concluding sentence could have been more clear. To improve I should in the future reinstate my topics and go over key points and leave the audience with psychological closure rather than abruptly saying "that was all, thank you".
I felt that it would have been beneficial for me to use more visual aids in presenting my topic. Rather than just talking about my topic and the music, I feel that if I showed some actual footage

In the last seven weeks, I had an opportunity to look back and analyze the events that has shaped my life. This was a unique experience where I was emotionally comfortable enough to look back at life. I was able to objectively revisit many events that were often buried and too painful to face. I was free from the turmoil of emotional fears of failure, anger, regret and loneliness, which often clouded my perception. .
I was able to dwell on many pleasant and unpleasant events with more comfort and confidence. I accepted each event as part of life, regardless of whether it was a good or bad experience. I understand that life transpires even when we are not prepared for it, but more importantly, it...show more content...
I supported myself financially, emotionally and mentally. Even though my move to Houston was the right one, I executed the move without thinking things through. I should have stopped being self–centered and thought of the pain and anguish that it would cause my parents. This life learning experience has been a double–edged sword, because it has taught me to stand up for what I want, yet on the other hand, sometimes running away is probably the best thing to do, which will help to clear clouded thoughts and refocus on my destination.
Play to Win by Larry Wilson introduces a simplistic, yet optimistic, method of viewing life. It embraces two fundamental views– emotional and spiritual maturity that allows us to evaluate who we are. "Life is an adventure to be experienced, lived, experimented with and committed to." (Wilson,1998, p.89) This statement alone tells us that we are in control of our lives. We all can choose dissimilar and painful paths to get to the safe place and that is okay.
When looking back, my second life–learning lesson came through financial growth. This growth was to some extent expected, since I was so lavish with cash. My financial motto was that money comes and money goes. I knew eventually, I needed to get a grasp on my foolish spending habit, but it spun out of control with each purchase. There were days where I would squander money like there was no tomorrow. I never planned for the future let alone on for the next meal. For the

When we do participate in peer reviews and reflections I make sure I do not rush my work and am careful to respond in sufficient time. In the Official SCSU English Dept. Peer editing has helped me become a stronger and more fluid writer this semester. I've never actually done peer editing within a familiar group before every paper, so having a specific day to read and comment on one another's writing in detail has truly helped me formulate better essays overall. It has helped me not only to see small mistakes I've made, but how the reader or audience interprets my work. Aside from peer editing inside the classroom I've taken my papers to the writing center and you for advice and help. I think that through the use of these sources it has helped me to develop stronger claims, better fluidity, and coherency. By formulating ideal structures, engaging in peer editing, and creating reflection pieces, they have helped me generate overall better papers. The greatest start to the best speech is a good topic. The topic needs to be modern, up to date, interesting and fun. All of this is depending on your audience as well, so you wouldn't want to give a speech on the first phones invented to fifth graders. The topic should appeal to the audience, and since most of my speeches will be done in my communication class my audience will be current college students just like myself. This makes it a little easier preparing a speech because I am a college student as well, so I have a bit of an idea of what may or may not appeal to my audience. There are many things that I need to consider before giving a speech, things like, how to be fully prepared with my information, how to not bore my audience to death,...show more content...
And being a college student myself I know how easy it is to lose attention on something. So I need to make sure during my speech to make it interesting and bring a visual aide because I know that, that may help me share my information better with students who learn better with visual aids as well as I do. As stated in our Frealeigh and Tuman textbook "If you want audience members to actively listen to your speech and ignore everything else going on you must motivate them to focus on what you're saying. By selection supporting materials that appeal to your listeners interest, you sweeten the odds that they will pay attention to you." So with this I feel that by getting something that most of my classmates or audience can connect with, will make them feel the need to pay attention to what I'm saying and actually have their full attention the entire time.
I feel like also learning what my classmate's interests are may help me grab and keep their attention longer. Learning how to connect my topic to things they may like, for instance sports, famous people, or politics may help me peek their interest and keep their mind on me and what I am saying rather than looking around or look at their

If I stutter whatsoever or blatantly recognize a fault in my piece, I change it immediately. I also wish I had less work outside of the course (such as schoolwork, housework, social events, etc.) so I could have spent more time on my pieces for it. Some of my pieces were started only a few days before the assignment was due, and I wished I had had more time to edit and proofread. I have gained many insights I have gained about descriptive and narrative writing over this course. The one that I will take the most away from the course is my realization of my own tone and voice that I possess in my pieces and how to apply them in a narrative. I have also learned how to develop a tone and voice for others when I am writing a piece from the perspective of them. There are significant contrasts between characters, such as the wicked, selfish Amber and the kindhearted, welcoming Horace from Assignment 3, and I have learned how to establish nuances in dialogue and activity to individualize my characters. Although this insight may not apply to analytical writing, it certainly applies to persuasive writing. Perhaps if I wanted to persuade someone in a letter, this course helped me realize the tone I would need to establish in that letter to have him or her come to the realization that they should do what I would like. Introduction Self–evaluation is the process of evaluating yourself after completing either a project and/or task. The purpose of the evaluation is to review the project and/or task after it is completed to determine what was learned and if changes need to be made. Not always when someone does something do they learn all they could have or do it correctly the first time. It is from the self–evaluation process this determination can be made. Once the evaluation is complete the individual can move forward and make changes if need be.

Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence is an important characteristic in becoming a good leader. "Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage oneself and one's relationships in mature and constructive ways" (Kinicki & Kreitner, 2009, p.137).Being a good leader entails more than just being smart; leaders need to be able to connect to their employees emotionally and empathetically. Organizations today not only look for leaders with the skills, but leaders that can emotionally connect to employees to obtain the organization's goal. Emotional intelligence also entails me understanding strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to dealing with individuals and becoming an effective leader. If I do not take the time to do this, I can get trapped in trivial issues and forget what is important and eventually forget my emotional intelligence. Effective social skills are another aspect of emotional intelligence that I must acquire. Obtaining effective and efficient social skills will enable me to build long lasting relationships within my personal and professional lives. Building strong relationships will lead to establishing trust. Trust is one of the most significant aspects of emotional intelligence. When trust is absent, much time and exertion is spent on issues that are unproductive. Productivity will also decline when an employee does not feel he or she can trust his or her leader. In addition, when an employee does not trust his or her leader, he or she will be less creative and will not want to express his or her ideas. "The greater a leader's skill at transmitting emotions, the more forcefully the emotions will spread. Such transmission does not depend on theatrics, of course, since people place close attention to a leader, even subtle expressions of emotion can have great impact" (Goleman, et. al, 2002, para. 3).
