Maverick Engineering is a small but powerful UK company that has delivered high-quality spec projects for the food, oil & gas industries over the past decade. Currently handling one of its most significant projects, the company is happily on an upward curve with an expansion in the works. Andy Probert spoke to Marketing Director Kurtis Reynolds to learn more.

Maverick Engineering has been on a steady path of expansion since being established in 2013. The company started with four employees, growing to over 25 personnel between two workshops. Maverick Engineering began by serving the food, oil & gas sectors, with individuals who have worked for over 30 years in these fields. Using this knowledge, the company has expanded into what it is today: offering support and advice on projects to clients, overcoming any problems that may arise within the engineering industry.
It excels in engineering turnkey projects – encompassing complete pipework installs on new and existing factories, fabrication and installation of food processing

equipment, mechanical services, welding of coded pipework and jointing, and commercial and domestic applications for natural gas and LPG.
Engineering expertise
Since 2019, Maverick Engineering has predominantly worked within the oil and gas industry, working closely with clients such as SMS to fabricate HPUs and skid units for various projects worldwide. Due to its expertise and reliability, Maverick Engineering’s current work scope involves the fabrication of carbon steel skids and super duplex pipework for Shell’s Jackdaw project.
This involves the potential to produce more than 6% of the UK’s gas production . It is part of a broader vision for Shell UK to invest between £20-£25 billion in the UK energy system over the next decade, 75% of which is intended for low and zerocarbon products and services.
The company has increased its workforce from the four founders to over 25 personnel. It has also engaged on many

projects for clients such as HPC, APC, XPOLogistics, Birdseye and Baker Hughes.
It is presently engaged on another SMS contract to fabricate an eightmetre stainless steel HPU unit weighing over 30 tonnes – one of the heaviest it has ever fabricated.
“The gradual expansion of Maverick Engineering is key to achieving its ambitions and goals for the next three years,” said Marketing Director Kurtis Reynolds. “We have in mind to increase our workforce to accommodate the current workload and projects. The employment of key individuals with relevant training is on the horizon and will help align with our current work ethic.”
Around 60% of its business is retained within the oil and gas sector, while it works on-site with partners such as HPC, which supplies compressed air, compressors and units.

Maverick Engineering also offers installation, planned and preventative maintenance for all makes of boilers and plants. It also has gas-safe accreditation for all commercial and industrial applications, natural and LPG. The company is also proud to be a distributor and installer of Eqofluids UK Components.
Expansion on the way
As projects have continued to roll in, Maverick Engineering has taken the necessary steps to expand its workshops to two. The plan is to offer one workshop dedicated to stainless steel and another for carbon.
The investment will further enable the company to offer in-depth knowledge and experience for various pipework systems, including steam, glycol, brine, compressed air, chemical, oil, drainage, CIP, vacuum, hygienic process and refrigeration.
