Reader response to an academic paper

READER RESPONSE BRIEF

This paper provides you with an opportunity to read and review an academic article and to write about it in the context of your interest and /or professional work. The paper is an academic paper of 1500 words

A Reader- Response approach is required for this paper. The following steps are useful in building your review:

Contextualise the article briefly, by way of introduction, relating it to your understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and indicating why you have chosen to focus on it.

Relate to something that is already known to you from the article and discuss it in the light of the author’s perspective and your own experience.

Relate to something that is new to you in this article – discuss this new idea or issue in the light of the author’s theory/perspective.

Discuss a question or puzzle that you have in the light of the article.

Note: The key to the successful writing of this review is to open up the article for you and for the reader, rather than to judge/rate it. Why is the article a valuable reference point for you? In what way/s does it provide you with a new perspective and help you to stand back from /reflect on your own understanding and interpretations of EDI issues.
