It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 PSI Dressage and Jumping with the Stars.
This coveted event assembles Australia’s finest horses and riders and is a showcase of talent, from young horses at the beginning of their careers in dressage and jumping to horses at the peak of their career competing in the CDI-W Grand Prix and the CSI-W World Cup.
In 2025 we have a very knowledgeable line up of Judges and officials from Australia and overseas both for the dressage and the jumping. Together with our guest stars, Heike Kemmer, Chris Burton and special jumping guest, Australian Julia Hargreaves who is based in the Netherlands, we can expect three days of great sport and education.
Without the incredible support and generosity provided by our valued sponsors this event would not be possible. Importantly, we extend our warm thanks to Performance Sales International for their ongoing support of the event and the Australian Young Dressage Horse Championships. The support from the State Government of Victoria, City of Wyndham and Equestrian Victoria is truly appreciated. We welcome all sponsors, long standing, more recent and those new this year, to the 2025 edition of DJWTS and thank them most sincerely.
The Trade Village is full of wonderful exhibitors offering a wide range of products which will ensure all visitors have a great opportunity to take something home and not leave empty handed!
To mobilise such an event, I acknowledge and thank the Organising Committee for their dedication and commitment to the event. To the volunteers, our unsung heroes, who provide their time and effort for the betterment of equestrian, are the backbone of this event, and we could not facilitate this event without them, I extend a huge thank you for your contribution.
Finally, I offer my best wishes to all of the breeders, riders, owners, trainers, the hardworking teams and of course, the horses. May you do your personal best, and above all, show sportsmanship and solidarity in yours and our equestrian journey.
Best of luck for a successful event and thank you for your support.

Heike Kemmer is a renowned German dressage rider who has achieved international success with her horses. She was introduced to horses as a young child by her horse loving father, Joachim Kemmer, and after growing up in Berlin, the family to Winsen in Lower Saxony where Joachim founded a large breeding facility, Amselhof Walle. The stud is now run by Heike and is a well-known training centre for dressage horses.
Heike gained her first competition experience on school horses and her own pony “Polly”. She later rode the black mare “Waidfee”, with whom she achieved fifth place at the German Youth Championships in 1978. She began her remarkable career in dressage with horses such as “Gottberg” and “Lotus”. In 1983, she won the runner-up title at the German Junior Championships with “Gottberg” and won the individual and team titles at the European Junior Championships in Munich-Riem on “Lotus”.
Her career began in the 1980s, and after a break she returned to the top of the world rankings at the end of the 1990s. With her horse “Albano”, she won a silver medal at the German Championships in 2000, which earned her another appointment to the German A squad and a nomination as a substitute rider for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. In 2001, she won a bronze medal at the national championships and secured team gold at the 2001 European Championships and finished second in the 2003 World Cup Finals.
Heike’s partnership with the Hanoverian chestnut gelding ‘Bonaparte 67’ resulted in outstanding success; Olympic gold with the German team at the 2004 Games in Athens, and at the 2008 Games in Hong Kong, she was again a member of the gold medal team but this time took home an individual bronze, again on Bonaparte. At the WEG in Aachen, the pair were once again members of the gold medal winning German team. For her outstanding achievements she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf, one of the highest honours for athletes in Germany.
Her legacy goes beyond the medals: she has shaped the sport of dressage with passion, discipline and dedication and serves as an inspiration for future generations. Heike is committed to promoting young talent and horses.
We welcome Heike to PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars.

Having established his career in Australia, in 2010 Chris made his international debut for Australia at the Equestrian Games in Kentucky. Chris soon became recognised as an established elite rider, and went on to compete on the Australian, British and European Eventing and Showjumping circuits.
Chris’s Olympic debut followed in 2012 at the London Games, where he finished 16th in the individual and sixth in the team event.
In 2015, Chris placed fourth at Luhmuhlen with Graf Liberty. He also went on to place third and fourth at Burghley on TS Jamaimo and Haruzac. 2015 also saw Chris take out the world record for the lowest ever finishing score at a threeday event aboard Santano in the CCI*** in Camphire. The duo finished with on a dressage score of 24.5.
At the Rio 2016 Olympics Chris, as a member of the Australia Team, took home a bronze medal and narrowly missed out on an individual medal. In 2019, Chris claimed third and fourth at Badminton with Cooley Lands and Graf Liberty and second at Pau with Quality Purdey. Chris finished the 2019 season as world no.3.
Chris was set to compete in his third Olympic Games in Tokyo, with his horse Quality Purdey, but had to withdraw the horse two weeks out from the Games due to a minor injury.
In 2021, Chris made a successful career shift from eventing to showjumping. However, early in 2024, he made a lastminute decision to return to his roots with the aim of qualifying for the Paris Olympics in eventing. Chris took on the ride on Shadow Man, and a series of strong performances, including at Ireland’s Millstreet International Horse Trials –an Olympic selection trial – won them a place on the Australian team for Paris.
Christopher’s return to eventing was met with success as he claimed individual silver at the Paris 2024 Games with Shadow Man. This became Australia’s only equestrian medal in Paris.
We welcome Chris to PSI DJWTS 2025.

Test movements are not marked individually; instead scores are given out of ten for walk, trot and canter, the horse’s aptitude for dressage and harmony between horse and rider. As the overall impression is paramount, a horse which makes ‘mistakes’ may still receive high marks.
The judges are trying to encourage the production of talented, supple and systematically trained horses and ponies.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR PERFORMANCE SALES INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE
The Olympic Games in Paris will go down in history. Some very special magic was created in front of the Palace of Versailles. The equestrian sport gave us countless unforgettable moments there. All around the world, spectators showed their excitement, which proved that equestrian sport is on the right track
Havens Schatt is a well respected hunter rider and trainer, with multiple championships and reserve ribbons and many Derby wins to her name. Her story is not only connected to the Schockemöhle and Kasselmann stables, but also tells of the growing market for hunter jumpers.
and has also won many new friends and fans across the globe.
Last year‘s 45th P.S.I. Auction marked 45 celebratory and successful years of Performance Sales International and together with you we look forward to many more.
With best regards, Your P.S.I. Team
56 German athletes celebrated their Olympic debut in Paris, including the P.S.I. duo of Frederic Wandres and Bluetooth OLD. The son of Bordeaux x Riccione was foaled at Paul Schockemöhle‘s Lewitz stud in 2010 and
already showed his qualities as a young horse, catching the eye at his three national young horse championship appearances. In 2013, he caused a stir at the P.S.I. Auction …
The 45th P.S.I. Auction in Ankum was a complete success and once again set new standards in the international equestrian world. Riders, breeders and enthusiasts from all over the world gathered in Lower Saxony to take part in this prestigious event. Showjumper Chaceana PS changed hands for 1.4 million euros. Sire Chacoon Blue is one of the most influential sires in modern jumping breeding, who here meets an originally French dam line from Lewitz Stud. Dam Conceana PS jumped up to 1.50m under Geritt Nieberg. The elegant Vivendy (by Vivino x Fürst Jazz ) was purchased for 1,260,000 Euros over the phone and is continuing her career in a very renowned dressage stable in northern Germany.
About 40 years ago, Mr. Wen Shiong Kang had a vision: to foster the sport of equestrian in Taiwan and provide opportunities for people willing to learn and improve their knowledge and skill set. In a region, where riding is often perceived as costly and horses only play a very minor role in society, this was not an easy task. The Taiwanese don‘t have a history and culture of riding horses and even today, many Taiwanese don‘t
realise there are stables in the country. Nonetheless, Mr. Kang took a keen interest in the equine industry. His then sixteen year-old daughter, Connie was fond of horses and so he decided to acquire his own. “My father was a developer, so we had this piece of land and he said, ‘Okay, I want to build a stable there.’ He wanted to be with his horses and enjoy them. It made him happy,” Connie remembers.
With a united effort, the team at the Schockemöhle training stable is looking to the future. The Damme location has been part of the successful concept for around two years and expands the possibilities for the individual training of future top horses. The link: Andreas Kreuzer. He says: ‘In the end, we do everything for a common goal. And that is ‘Schockemöhle’.’
Hardly a day goes by without Andreas Kreuzer being seen training the riders in Mühlen. He commutes between two locations: sometimes he is in Damme, sometimes in Mühlen - and he is almost always in the arena, giving tips, analysing ‘from below’ and discussing training plans with the team. Kreuzer himself once went through this school, joined Paul Schockemöhle at the age of 17 and, after four successful years and another formative period with the current national coach Otto Becker, finally set up his own business. That was ten years ago. And it was to be another eight years before his return.

The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) expects all those involved in international equestrian sport to adhere to the FEI’s Code of Conduct and to acknowledge and accept that at all times the welfare of the horse must be paramount and must never be subordinated to competitive or commercial influences.
1. At all stages during the preparation and training of competition horses, welfare must take precedence over all other demands. This includes good horse management, training methods, farriery and tack, and transportation.
2. Horses and athletes must be fit, competent and in good health before they are allowed to compete. This encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids.
3. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves paying careful attention to the competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event.
4. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after they have competed and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are over. This covers proper veterinary care, competition injuries, euthanasia and retirement.
5. The FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of education in their areas of expertise.
A full copy of this Code can be obtained from the Fédération Equestre Internationale, Chemin de la Joliette 8, CH-1006 Lausanne, Switzerland. Telephone: +41 21 310 47 47. The Code is available in English & French. The Code is also available on the FEI’s website: www.fei.org.

Having only recently been introduced to the Aachen Challenge by Mary and Rob Hanna, I am thrilled to be the sponsor of this year’s Challenge.
I currently own four very talented young horses and have paired them with four exceptionally gifted young riders to campaign. It is such a delight and so rewarding to see them progress through the levels and develop to FEI standard.
Young riders in Australia now have the ability to compete at the highest levels and potentially translate that to overseas development opportunities.
With two rounds for the top six riders, the winner will receive tickets to Aachen and an airfare enabling them to witness elite riders competing in all equestrian disciplines. I love to see young riders given every opportunity to follow their dreams and that is why I am a committed sponsor.
Good luck to all participants and may you all live your dream.

Julia has represented Australia at the 2012 London Olympic Games. As well as WEG in 2014 and in FEI Nations cup events. • Paris 1987
• Gothenburg 1991- 19th Individually on Mr Currency
• Geneva 2010- 7th on Vivant
• Gothenburg 2016- on the sensational Cristalline where they placed 10th Chris was also an Australian representative at 2010 World Equestrian Games Kentuckyfinishing 21st individually on Vivant and Reserve Australian team rider for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Chris and the wonderful PSS Levilensky were the also Winners of the Australian World Cup Showjumping League for the 2019/2020 season. Now back in Australia after 2.5yrs in Europe, Chris and his wife Gabi Chugg are focused on producing their next international superstars with a team of youngsters that they have bred from some of their previous super mares such as Cristalline, Flaire, PSS Chantilly and Cera Carlina to name a few.
Chris has represented Australia in multiple international competitions, including the World Equestrian Games in 2010 ,2014 and 2018. In 2023 he rode in the Longines Nations Cup jumping team in Barcelona. He has also competed in the Olympics in 2012, 2016 and 2024, where he achieved a remarkable individual silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games with his horse, Shadow Man for Eventing. In recent years, however, Chris has turned his focus to pure jumping. He was shortlisted as a reserve for Jumping at Paris as well as making the Eventing team.

• Each round is evaluated based on three main components, each scored on a scale of 0 to 10 and weighted by a specific coefficient: Jumping Technique (Coefficient 3): Marked out of 10 evaluates the take-off, sharpness (both front and back), bascule, and landing. Scope and Style (Coefficient 4): Marked out of 10 assesses the ease of a natural jump, quality of the canter, and overall attitude and confidence. Rideability and General Impression (Coefficient 3): Marked out of 10 focuses on how the horse performs between fences by considering harmony, rhythm, looseness, suppleness, natural balance, correct canter leads and striding, and the overall impression. Together, these scores contribute to a total possible mark of 100.
• Faults and Penalties - After the initial scoring, penalties are applied: Obstacle Faults: 4 points are deducted for each rail knocked down. Refusals: 1st refusal: 4 points deducted. 2nd refusal: 8 points deducted. 3rd refusal: Results in elimination. Time Penalties: There is an expected time to complete the course. For every second over the set time, 1 penalty point is added. (This rule encourages the horse to maintain the proper pace, similar to a showjumping round.
The final score for each round is the total score out of 100 minus any faults and time penalties.
• Advancement and Overall Results - At the end of 2 days, the top 10 competitors from each age group are invited back for an additional round. Competitors earn points for this round, which are added to their overall total. Final placements are determined by the overall leaderboard, with the highest point-scoring young horse declared the winner. This structured approach ensures that both performance quality and consistency are rewarded, while faults and time inefficiencies are appropriately penalised.
The following will apply for the YJH Champion of Champions prize:
The Young Jumping Horse Champion of Champions will be chosen from the winners of each age group. All 3 judges will convene with all 4 winners. One of the guest star judges will then ride each horse and the 3 judges will, after all 4 horses have been ridden, decide the Champion of Champions. • Sky High Perpetual Trophy
• Trophy Rug

Southern Cross Event Hire is the largest supplier of portable equine stabling and yarding systems in the Southern Hemisphere.
Established in 2005, our aim is to provide the very best in portable infrastructure for equestrian events across Australia catering for everything from international level competitions to local pony club gymkhanas.
Julia Hargreaves’ equestrian career began in the United States, where she competed in hunter and equitation classes from the age of seven. After moving to Australia in 1997, she attended New England Girls’ School (NEGS), where she was a dedicated member of the equestrian team. Under the guidance of top Australian show jumpers Vicki Roycroft and later George Sanna, Julia quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a successful World Cup competitor with horses like Hayman and Vedor.
In 2011, Julia made the move to Europe, relocating with Vedor and Vegas to pursue Olympic selection. Training and competing on the European circuit, she secured her place at the 2012 London Olympics, where she and Vedor made it into the Finals—an incredible achievement for her Olympic debut. She was also named as a reserve for the World Equestrian Games in Normandy and competed in three Nations Cup Finals, solidifying her reputation on the international stage.
Her success was built on a combination of natural talent, relentless dedication, and a strong work ethic. Competing at the top level requires not only skill in the saddle but also an ability to manage and develop top competition horses, navigate international circuits, and perform under pressure. Julia has embraced all aspects of the sport, always striving for improvement and seeking opportunities to learn from the best.
Now based in the Netherlands with her husband, Irish show jumper Denis Lynch, and their son Nick, Julia has shifted her focus towards coaching. Her vast experience at the highest levels of the sport makes her an invaluable mentor for developing riders and horses. From her early days in the U.S. to competing at the Olympics, Julia’s journey is a testament to dedication, resilience, and a passion for equestrian sport. Whether in the competition arena or in a coaching role, she continues to leave a lasting impact on the equestrian world.

“We are Equestrian Victoria” represents the sense of belonging and camaraderie that comes from sharing a love for horses and equestrian sports.
‘Equestrian Victoria’ represents more than just a sport - it’s a way of life that brings people together and creates a sense of belonging and connection. Everyone involved, whether grassroots volunteers, sponsors, traders or competitors, is essential in creating a vibrant and inclusive equestrian community.
We want to give a shoutout to the incredible team of people who are making it all happen. The marshalls, gear checkers, scribes, ticket and gate attendants, car parkers, maintenance, hospitality workers, administration and pole picker-up-erers to name just a few. Each plays a crucial role and together, this incredible team of people have created an event to remember. Their dedication, hard work, and positive attitude are truly inspiring.
Let’s give them all a round of applause!

Denise Farrugia
Anyone whose lives are tied up with horses will tell you that defining moments in their life are often the result of their horses. So it was with me.
One of my English riding ponies that I bred at Walkenny Park, named Jock, sparked my fascination in herbal medicine for horses, that was in 2006. As a result I established Walkenny Park Herbs, completed my Certificate of Equine Herbal Medicine, and use my hands on experience with horses and livestock to heal our own animals naturally and help other horse owners who want to embrace herbs to heal their horses and provide them with first class health.
Dalgangle Welsh Mountain Pony Stud is one of the oldest and largest in Australia. Founded in 1964 it has always been part of the stud’s strength to breed ponies for children to ride, whilst having the temperament and beauty to highlight the breed. Whilst there is a lot of effort involved, it is all worth it to own these lovely ponies and see our children start their love affair with ‘The Horse’.
