5 WAYS TO SUPPORT VETERAN OWNED BUSINESSES CAITLIN STEPHENS, COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING MANAGER, PRINCE WILLIAM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
CHAMBER PROGRAMS
The Prince William County and surrounding areas are home to thousands of businesses, many of which are either veteran owned or are employers of veterans. The Prince William Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of the veteran community. With Veterans Day approaching, we encourage members to learn more about resources available to both employ veterans and support local veteran owned businesses. As a part of the Chamber’s commitment to the business community, the Chamber is proud to introduce the ‘Veteran Owned Company of the Year’ as a category in the 2023 Business Awards. The award will be granted to a veteran owned member business that displays overall outstanding contributions to the Chamber and/or to the business community. We encourage members to visit our website to nominate businesses of their choice. *Categories and criteria for the awards are listed on page 3. Get involved! One of the Chamber’s most active councils is the Veterans Council, which, “Promotes regional economic growth and stability by collaborating with other organizations and agencies that educate, train, mentor and provide opportunities for employment of our Veterans and Base Installations.” The Veterans Council, chaired by Ross Osborne of Phase II, encourages all in the business community to join to learn how to make a difference in the lives of those who have served our Country. The Veterans Council meets bi-monthly, with their next meeting on November 15th from 1:30- 3:00 PM. Representative Rob Wittman will be joining the Veterans Council inperson to give a post-election legislative update at the Prince William Chamber of Commerce headquarters, located at: 9270 Capital Court, Ste. 203, Manassas, VA. The meeting will take place in person and will also be on Zoom- please make sure to RSVP for this unique opportunity. Additionally, Chamber members may post jobs in their GrowthZone accounts and can also search jobs on our website, under the “Jobs” tab. This valuable resource not only allows members to further utilize their membership, but gives members a greater reach in the community. We encourage members to use terms that encourage veteran hiring or highlight small businesses that are veteran owned. Please contact Membership Navigator, Denise Carey, at dcarey@PWChamber.org for any help with jobs postings.
