2016 Gary Walters ’67 PVC Awards Banquet Special Issue

It was our distinct honor to celebrate the great Class of 2016 at the Gary Walters ’67 PVC Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 26th, before Reunions. Over 600 members of the Princeton Athletics family gathered as part of this exciting event that recognized the accomplishments of the Princeton Athletics community, including senior student-athletes, alumni, staff and friends.

We’d like to thank our loyal PVC members for their ongoing support. Your collective commitment to the Princeton Varsity Club and Princeton Athletics helps to provide opportunities for all varsity student-athletes to achieve, to serve and to lead while encompassing “Education through Athletics.”

We also recognize the continued dedication of the PVC Awards Banquet table sponsors and PVC Letter Sweater sponsors whose generosity allows the PVC to properly recognize the entire graduating class of senior student-athletes. On behalf of all of our varsity student-athletes, head coaches, administrators, and the entire Princeton Athletics community, we thank and salute all of our supporters.

Senior Keynote Speaker A psychology major, Chris was selected to address the audience as a result of his perseverance and leadership of the wrestling team.

Chris Perez ’16 “Being a leader is a complicated task. Envision scoring a goal, crossing a finish line or raising a trophy over your head. Envision where you want to be in the future, then hold on to that and work for it the same way you worked for your athletic goals. Leadership requires others. Surround yourself with people that are going to maximize your efforts and try to maximize theirs as well.”

EDUCATION THROUGH ATHLETICS

C. Otto von Kienbusch Award Awarded annually to a Princeton senior woman of high scholastic rank who has demonstrated general proficiency in athletics and the qualities of a true sportswoman. Presented in memory of C. Otto v. Kienbusch ’06, friend and benefactor of women’s athletics at Princeton.

Class of 1916 Cup Awarded each year to the Princeton varsity letterwinner who continuing in competition in his or her senior year achieved at graduation the highest academic standing. Given by the Class of 1916 on the occasion of its 50th reunion.

James Agolia, is

a letterwinner on the Princeton lightweight rowing team. He is a

chemistry

major and Pyne Prize winner from Massapequa Park, NY.

EDUCATION THROUGH ATHLETICS

Marvin Bressler Award Awarded to that member of the Princeton family who, through heartfelt support of the University’s student-athletes and coaches, best embodies a belief in the lifelong lessons taught by competition and athletics as a complement to the overall educational mission. Awarded in the spirit of Marvin Bressler, professor of sociology from 1963-94.
