AULD KIRK HALL High Street Exhibition Model boats of Cockenzie and Port Seton

Boatie Blest is a community group which takes part in coastal rowing for fun, for healthy exercise and to race against other clubs throughout Scotland.

This annual exhibition showcases the craftsmanship of local modelboat builders. The model boat window trail is an extension of this exhibition.

Come along to the harbour and see the Boatie Blest skiffs ‘Boatie Rows’ and ‘Boatie Blest’ on Saturday evening. There will be an open session when you can have a go at rowing a boat with an experienced crew.

Other items of interest relating to the fishing heritage of Cockenzie and Port Seton are also displayed.

Keen photographers have the opportunity to be taken out to experience the area from the sea and take some unique photographs. Then stay for the fun races and cheer on the teams as they race each other. A beach barbeque and ‘The Castaways’ singing songs of the sea will be the perfect end to the day. Saturday 4 June Activities may be restricted depending on the weather. Enquiries: 0770 888 4233

This year we feature two new models built only this year, a model of ‘Boatie Rows’ by Stuart Mack and a model of ‘Boatie Blest’ by Bob McNeil. Both models are built to scale from kits supplied by Jordan Boats. These are mini versions of the actual skiffs built at the Boatie Blest Boatyard at Port Seton Harbour in 2010 as part of the larger Scottish Coastal Rowing Association. www.scottishcoastalrowing.org.uk Stuart Mack is club captain / boat builder and Bob McNeil is a boatbuilder in the Boatie Blest community group.
