Employees of Evergreen, the residents, and community members gathered at the Drew House Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the renovations that had been done to the house over the past three years. Judith Barrett decided to get involved in renovations of the house once she drove by the property after returning to Minden due to her parents passing. “As I drove by the house, I thought, hmm, that place

needs pressure cleaning. Then my second thought was, hmm, I wonder what’s been done to the house. I ended up getting Cathey’s name and she returned the phone call to me and we started a dialogue that made me feel like it was a good opportunity to come forward and offer some assistance to make sure this house was in good standing,” said Barrett. Heflin man arrested for domestic battery with child endangerment of a three week old

A Heflin man was arrested earlier this week after an argument between a female victim and the man resulted in him being charged with domestic abuse battery with child endangerment. Cameron Romain, 23, was found sleeping in his bedroom by local authorities after re- ROMAIN turning with his mother from the bar. Beforehand, an argument netween Romain and the victim broke out and resulted in Cameron brutalizing the victim and endangering their threeweek-old baby. Deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic disturbance. The deputies, “made contact with a female subject carrying a threeweek-old baby boy. The female victim was crying and seemed terrified. I immediately noticed several injuries to her face,” the arrest report read. The victim sustained contusions around her forehead and left eye. To report also noted she had significant red marks around her neck as well as swelling and a contusion on the back of her head. The victim told the deputy that, “her live-in boyfriend for one year, Cameron Romain, came home tonight after going to a bar and drinking with his mom. Cameron’s mom was highly intoxicated and the victim tried to help Cameron and the mom into bed,” the report read. During this time the victim and Romain got into an argument about his mother. This led
