Highway 80 sees bridge upgrades for new trucking route
Press-Herald names new Publisher STAFF REPORT Minden Press-Herald
Specht Newspapers, Inc, the parent company of the Minden Press-Herald, has named Joshua Specht editor and publisher of the local newspaper. “Joshua has proven to be a strong leader, both at the newspaper and in the community,” Specht Newspapers President David SPECHT Specht Jr. said. “I believe the newspaper is in very good hands.” Joshua is a fourth generation publisher of the Press-Herald, following in the footsteps of David Sr., Art, Bill, and David Jr. “I am so happy that Joshua decided to plant roots here at the Press-Herald, keeping it in the family,” David said. Joshua was previously the managing editor of the newspaper, guiding the day-to-day news operations, among other duties. “In this day and age, no one wears just one hat,” Joshua said. “Over the years, I have been involved in all aspects of the newspaper, which will help me in this new role.” Joshua has lived in Minden his entire life, and is committed to the growth of the community and the newspaper. “I absolutely love Minden,” he said. “I believe the key to our growth is serving our community each and every day.” Joshua plans to bring some new direction to the Press-Herald, while maintaining its core values. “The world around us is changing, and we will have to adapt to thrive,” Joshua said. “However, we cannot lose sight of what we are, a community newspaper.” Joshua and his wife, Sarah have one son, Rylan.

The repairs for bridges on Highway 80 have begun that were agreed upon through the recent co-operative effort between the State of Louisiana and Fibrebond by Gov. John Bel Edwards, State Senator Ryan Gatti, State Representative Wayne McMahen, and many others.
WPSO: Man arrested for cocaine during a traffic stop STAFF REPORT Minden Press-Herald
The Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Monday during what started as a basic traffic stop but turned into a situation in which the man was charged with resisting arrest and possession of illegal substances with intent to distribute. The man arrested was Lacarlus Fuller who was noticed while driving by an officer after crossing over both the center line and the fog line. cle failed to stop, and eventually turned into a residence. “As they turned into the driveway they increased speed and fled around the backside of the house. Before coming to a complete stop I observed a male fall multiple times trying to run away from the vehicle,” the arrest report read. The deputy warned Fuller to stop and show the officer his hands, but he did not comply. “As (they) got to the woodline behind the house, I successfully deployed my taser and observed him fall to the ground,” the report read. up and tried to get away again. “After multiple warnings that I was going to tase him again, he continued away from me trying to get away. I attempted to subdue the male subject, but he actively resisted and tried grabbing me,” the report read. The deputy ended up taking Fuller to the ground and even after countless verbal commands, he refused to comply with the officer’s orders. The officer eventually put Fuller under arrest and read him his rights. “I removed the taser probes after EMS refused to do so. After EMS cleared the subject as medically stable, I placed him

The deputy found a black zipper bag containing suspected natural marijuana and a silver metal container with a large amount of suspected crack cocaine. Fuller is currently charged with improper lane usage, resisting by flight, resisting an officer, possession of a schedule II substance with intent to distribute and possession of a schedule I substance. He was transported to the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
