Introduction to LumaWire Technologies, LLC TM

Welcome to LumaWire Technologies! Thank you for making the commitment to become part of the LumaWire™ family of dealers. This training is just the beginning of what we know is going to be a long and profitable relationship. Our dealers are the heart and soul of what we do. We could not do this without you.

History Past David and his wife Kim Brainard worked side-by-side successfully for more than 18 years in product innovation, screen printing and the vehicle wrap business. David built a reputation for his innovative techniques and impactful graphic designs in the screen printing industry with 13 Golden Squeegee and Imaging awards to his credit. In 2008 the Brainards migrated to the vehicle wrap business as they discovered the appeal and artistry of this newly forming, graphically driven industry. Their very first wrap was the “Mad Wrapper” which right after completion made the front cover of Wraps magazine. This same vehicle was later used as the test bed for LumaWire™ product. Competition in the vehicle wrap industry quickly grew fierce driving down margins to unprofitable levels. “Necessity is the Mother of Invention” and it was due to this that David started looking for ways to have an edge over the competition. He recognized that although vehicle wraps were extremely effective during the daytime hours, at night they went unnoticed. David thought that if he could come up with a cost effective way of illuminating these wraps it would change the wrap industry… This is when the LumaWire™ technology was born. The Brainards met with David Schumaker and Joe Cutler in the Fall of 2008 and were shown David Brainards first prototype LumaWire™ panel. The potential was instantly recognized and the group decided to form LumaWire™, put together a business plan and raise the necessary capital to properly start the company and fund R&D. Patents were filed and the first vehicle was lit and debuted on January 31, 2008, New Years Eve. The buzz grew quickly generating an article written in Sign Of The Times magazine calling the LumaWire™ illuminated technology “The Holy Grail” of the wrap industry. This endorsement was all that the industry needed to hear and within months LumaWire™ began to grow exponentially.

Client Interview This section is provided to give you an idea of what questions your clients may ask and how you should answer:

Q : How Long Will LumaWire Last? A : LumaWire™ useful life is measured on a “bell curve” with its half-life being approximately 3000 hours. This equates to an average of 3 years for a standard panel. This time can increase greatly if flashing or by limiting number of days used.

Q : What Is LumaWire Made Of? A : LumaWire™ is an electroluminescent technology that uses electrically charged phosphors encapsulated by a proprietary resin to produce a very bright, clean glow.

Q : Why Is LumaWire So Expensive? A : LumaWire™ is a very unique product and although production of the panels is rather expensive compared to standard non-illuminated signage, there is nothing that compares to the impact it creates.

Q : Is LumaWire Recyclable? A : The separate components of LumaWire™ are recyclable although they do need to be sent to a specific facility. If you’re interested in recycling LumaWire panels, they can be returned to our manufacturing facility for processing.

Q : Can LumaWire Be Re-Used? A : In some very specific circumstances, LumaWire™ panels can be re-used, but as a rule of thumb they are a one-time use product.

Q : What Is Your Warranty On LumaWire Panels? A : Standard LumaWire panels are warranted for a period of one year. There are very specific restrictions with this warranty relating to installation, location and power supply used.

Q : Is LumaWire As Bright As Neon Tubing? A : Please refer to spec sheets included in this booklet.

Project Details Must Include: A. Graphic or picture of design to be made out of LumaWire™ including specification of wire placement as detailed in Art & Design. B. Type of vehicle or application showing exact placement of LumaWire™ C. Final size desired of LumaWire™ Panel(s) to cross-check sizes with art. D. Desired completion date.

3. Our production timeline runs 7-10 days in most cases. As we bring on more manufacturers, the process will be faster. 4. You will then mark-up the quote based on your companies determined profit margin. You should be able to at least double all Wholesale quotes plus add your going rate for the installation time.

Wholesale Cost Of Product By the nature of our product it would be difficult to accurately quote per sq. ft. due to the amount of variables. For example a 4 sq. ft. area that is outlined in LumaWire™ would be less than a 4 sq. ft. area that was detailed with many extra ft.. of product throughout the same area. The use of “tiers” will help determine your pricing. Note that this is the most the product will cost. As an R&D company we will be continuing to refine manufacturing procedures lowering the wholesale cost to our Dealers.

Retail Cost Of Product This is determined primarily by your sales area, type of clientele and the specific application of our product. Also, your creativity in design has a substantial effect on how much you will be able to charge. For example, if you are marketing in a large metropolitan area to high profile clients for illuminated wall murals you would be able to charge more than selling a typical banner in a more rural area. In any case you should be able to charge at least double wholesale, and as much as 3 to 4+ times the wholesale cost of LumaWire™ for creative high impact applications. Due to the ability to apply LumaWire™ to multiple surfaces and power it multiple ways there are many applications that will allow for even greater profit margins than traditional signs and/or wraps. We will continuously develop new applications and make them available to our dealers.

ART & DESIGN FOR LUMAWIRE Creating Artwork For LumaWire:

1. BUDGET • Be sure to get an idea of your client’s budget. You want to spend your time creating a design that the client will be able to approve for concept, design and price. 2. LOCATION • Once you have a budget, you can then decide applications, substrates and product placement. 3. LOGOS • If you are replicating a logo, you need to evaluate where to on the logo you want to light and what it’s going to look like at night. Size is also a consideration as the smallest letters we can do with the LumaWire process are 3.5 inches. Also, be sure to research your local and state laws concerning lights on a vehicle. Many states like Florida, do not allow any red or blue lights, or flashing lights while driving. Building multiple colors complexes the design and building of the LumaWire™ and it will ultimately be more expensive. 4. FONTS • the font is an important part of designing the LumaWire™. Rounded or loose fonts seem to work very well. Bold fonts also work well. Script and thin serif fonts do not work well. 5. SPACING OF LETTERS COMES INTO CONSIDERATION • Too widely spaced letters will not work well, there ends up being two wires bridging each of the letters. The larger the font and the letter, the better it looks. 6. THE OUTLINE • When designing lettering, use in-lines and outlines. High contrast works the best. We generally use a light color inside with a white in-line, a black line and a border of white. This creates a lot of light reflection and refraction and gives the lettering a neon look. A dark letter with a hard outline will generate very little refraction and reflection and will make the end result much less bright. We generally add at least a ¼” border around everything. We also round all corners in that outline, allowing the resin to flow to the edge. 7. DESIGNING FOR EASY INSTALLATION • When designing a LumaWire™ wrap, you must evaluate where you are going to wire it from. On doors, we always go around the hinge side of the door. We look for the easiest entry point. Remember, all of your wires will run to one point in the vehicle where your inverter is placed. Drilling make for a cleaner installation but, it is not necessary. A good plan on where you want entry points is the best idea for a clean install.

ART & DESIGN CON. 8. PRINT • Be sure to take into consideration the background you are mounting the LumaWire™ onto and try to hide the wires within the background. 9. FINAL ART • When sending in art for quotes or production, note an entry point with an X on a separate later for each graphic. Send a layered PSD file at actual size for all final prints.

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers 1. How small can we design LumaWire™? What is the minimum size the letters can be? 3 to 4” 2. How many colors does the wire come in and how many can you use per design? 10 or so colors are available. See chart of colors. The darker the color, the less light it gives off so the brightest colors are white, yellow, aqua and lime green with the aqua being the very brightest. 3. What fonts work best? Fatter, rounder fonts. 4. Which fonts should be avoided? Thin, scripted or heavily serif letters or letters that are too pointed and also, not too far apart. 5. Add high contrast to the design in the outlines, in-lines, shadows and highlights. Expand font (exterior light area, round off exterior corners, flow of resin.) 6. Drop shadow can be placed on the wrap and the LumaWire™ added on top. This gives you the room for adjustments if needed. 7. Wire size will be 2.6 mm, standardized. 8. Use reflective as an accent in your design, gives special effect.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING FILES Highly Preferred File Type: • • • • •

1. Prepare Text or Line Art (such as logos) in Vector format and convert all fonts to paths / curves / outlines. (When possible) 2. We recommend all photography to be at least 72 dpi at full size. (Images with higher resolution is overkill and may result in additional setup fees). 3. When using images in artwork, be sure to embed all images. (Linked files may result in additional Design cost $85.00) 4. Add a minimum 6” bleed on Top, Bottom, Left and Right. 5. You may scale-down artwork to any size however it is extremely important that all files are in proportion. (Please note EXACT final size of graphic when submitting files) 6. Do not Crop or Cut-Out any part of the graphic. Please submit a solid rectangle for each side (DO NOT clip-path or power-clip wheel-wells, windows or the shape of the vehicle). 7. Specify critical colors as Pantones; Only Pantones will be color matched upon the clients request. Color matching of images (bitmaps) will not be exact and extra costs may be incurred to adjust images. (Extensive color matching WILL incur additional costs) Be sure to set-up vehicle artwork so that the vehicle outline template is on a separate layer from your graphics. CREATING A QUALITY LUMAWIRE PANEL TM

Fonts Sans-Serif fonts work best with our wire technology. Serifs and script fonts can be used for wire technology, however the size of the piece will be the deciding factor with regard to font choice.

Spacing The spacing in your piece is critical. Avoid large gaps between letters, lines of text or from one illuminated section to another. Remember, 2 pieces of wire must span a gap.

Definition Illuminated areas of design need to have definition. Otherwise, once lit, everything will run together and legibility can become nonexistent. The wire should clearly define your text and lay nice and tight around the content. Always keep the final illuminated panel in mind while designing. Designing first, then attempting to figure out how to light your design can end up causing major headaches in the long run.

Contrast Heavy contrast is required to achieve the final effect or “wow” factor. Light can “bleed” out into unwanted areas of your design should there not be enough contrast from one color to another. If your wire technology panel does not contain highly contrasting colors, you can apply a black stroke which will act as a light “barrier”, making light flow to the outside edge of the panel. If a barrier is needed, the stroke should only appear where the wire will be applied.

SOLDERING AND WIRING HANDS ON TRAINING AND DEMONSTRATION

LumaWire Soldering Instructions TM

1. Using wire strippers, remove approximately an inch and three quarters of the outer coating off your lead LumaWire™ This should reveal an inner coating over the remaining wire. 2. Strip off about an inch and a half of the remaining inner coating off the core wire. This should leave a quarter of an inch of inner coating, a coated core wire, and two micro wires. 3. Isolate the micro wires by carefully twisting them together. Take special care when doing this step, if these wires break you must start over. (You need at least enough wire to fold back over the copper tape explained in the next step). 4. Wrap the remaining quarter of an inch of plastic inner coating with copper tape. (After one revolution of tape, Secure the micro wires by folding them over the copper tape, and soldering them to it, This helps insure that the fragile micro wires are safe from breaking ) 5. After soldering, clip off any extra wire or extruded solder points. 6. There is a coating on the inner wire that needs to be removed to make a clean connection with the lead wire. Using an Exacto blade, start an eighth of an inch up from the copper tape and begin to scrape the white coating off, all the way around the core wire. (Be sure to remove all of this coating. A clean wire promotes a good connection) 7. The cleaned section of the Core Wire and the Copper tape will act as our solder points to our lead wire. 8. Before attaching the lead wire to the LumaWire™ wire, cut two sections of shrink tubing to seal the spliced area. A small diameter piece should be used for the core wire. (This should only be long enough to cover the core wire.) 9. Another piece will be used to cover the entire area, this piece should be a little larger in diameter. Make sure this piece is long enough to cover the whole section by at least a quarter of an inch on either side. 10. Before soldering the lead wire to the LumaWire™ wire: You must stagger one end of the lead wire to match the stagger of the copper tape and the cleaned section of the core wire.

SOLDERING AND WIRING CON. 11. To finish the connection, slide the larger shrink tubing over either wire, (lead wire or LumaWire™) 12. Slide the smaller shrink tubing over the lead wire that is to be connected to the inner core wire. 13. Solder the lead to the core wire then slide the shrink tubing over the connection. (DO NOT HEAT SHRINK YET!) 14. Solder the remaining lead to the copper tape. (Do Not Heat Shrink Yet!) 15. Connect the other end of your lead wire to your test inverter. Turn it On. This is just to test your connections before you seal it. 16. Heat shrink the area: Start with the core wire connection first, then do the outer layer. (Do not try to heat both at the same time, it gets too hot.) 17. Plug lead back into the inverter and test once more, You should now be ready for application.

LUMAWIRE VEHICLE WIRING INSTALLATION 1. Decide where power source and inverter will be located> 2. If drilling is not possible, wrap leads around door edges and run wire towards the rubber wire junction located mid-door. (All four doors) 3. Run wire through rubber gasket and under plastic molding inside the vehicle. *Molding normally secured down by means of metal pressure clips, removable by hand, no special tools needed. 4. Run each lead separately to bus bar. (See diagram) 5. Run leads from bus bar to inverter. 6. Connect inverter to battery through switch and fuse in dash. (If necessary) 7. Start car and LIGHT UP THE NIGHT!

SPECIFICATIONS Standard LumaWire™, can operate on 50 volts to 110 volts AC and of a frequency of between 1200Hz and 2000Hz. At present we use two types of inverter. The first type that we recommend for vehicles is a solid state unit that has a 12 volt DC input and delivers 90 volts at 2000Hz (fixed output). The consumption is directly proportional to the length of LumaWire™ used. The second unit has more features. It has a 110 Volt AC input that is converted into a variable output ranging from 50 to 110 Volts AC at 1600Hz. It also has a flash mode. It can be used on vehicles but requires a 12 Volt AC to 110 Volt Converter.

POWER CONSUMPTION Example: 50 ft. of wire uses 2.4mA per ft. =50X2.4=120mA Precautions: Inlet and outlet fast acting fuses should be fitted. High Voltage wire is starting to be used and operates up to 220 Volts AC at over 3000Hz. Typical units we use are: 20-100M, that when connected to a sign of more than 20M wire length, runs at 158 Volts and 1870Hz. The 100-300M unit when connected to the same sign, ran at 182 Volts and 3140Hz.

LUMAWIRE FLAT PANEL Installation Guide 1. LumaWire™ recommends applying a vinyl “barrier” for any installation on a vehicle or painted surface. The adhesive that is used to apply these panels is very aggressive and capable of removing paint. A barrier layer between the substrate and the panel will avoid any issues during the removal process. 2. The second step to installing flat panel is a dry fit. Tape the panel using a standard masking tape to the substrate. Position the panel making sure to check for lead placement. 3. Once the substrate is cleaned, the panel can be installed using the hinge method. The size and shape of the panel will determine how the panel is installed. Once again, the adhesive is extremely aggressive so make sure you have the panel positioned where you want it. 4. The panel is now applied! The fourth and final step in the installation process is to seal the edges of the panel to avoid any moisture affecting the adhesive. There are a few different ways to achieve this, but we recommend an edge seal tape. This tape is clear and very conformable and will hold up to almost any conditions. This method is only necessary in exterior applications. 5. Lastly, run your leads, plug in your panel and test your connections.

APPLICATION OF LUMAWIRE LumaWire Installation and Checklist TM

1. Unpack the LumaWire™ pieces and the inverter that came with it. Check to make sure you received everything you ordered. 2. Test Panels 3. Clean the area where LumaWire™ is to be installed. Isopropyl Alcohol works fine. a - Use proper adhesive remover if necessary. (If you are applying to a wrapped vehicle, use caution that you don’t get the adhesive remover near any seams.) 4. Position the LumaWire™ graphic (dry fit, do not install yet). a - Make sure lead is in proper position. b - Make sure the image is straight. 5. Use the tape hinge method of applying the LumaWire™, either horizontally or vertically. a - Example: Run a line of tape through the center of the graphics, peel back half, allowing you to apply one side at a time. 6. Use a Rolle Pro to smooth down the entire area, this removes any air pockets below the graphic and allows for smooth application.

TROUBLESHOOTING Troubleshooting Main Check List 1. Check the Power Sourcea. Make sure all connections to the inverter are solid and plugged in correctly. 2. Check the Invertera. Is inverter the right size for the amount of wire you are lighting? b. Is it wired right? On panels: Power to power, ground to ground. c. Check to see if the fuse has blown on the inverter. 3. Lead Wires (speaker wire) a. Has wire been crimped or cut during the installation process? b. Are any doors rubbing on wires? 4. Check Soldering Points – Micro Wire: a. Is it broken – single or both b. Is there too much slack in it c. Is there inadequate soldering on any point? d. Check direction of lead wire. 5. Check Soldering Points – Center Wire: a. Phosphorus is not scraped all the way b. Too small of a distance between micro and center wires. c. Are wires scorched? 6. Heat Shrink Tubing a. Was the tubing heated too much (check the plastic coating for melting, allowing internal wires to touch.)

b. Check to see if wires are scratched.
