What is Industry 4.0 ? We’re in the midst of a significant transformation regarding the way we produce products thanks to the digitization of manufacturing. This transition is so compelling that it is being called Industry 4.0 to represent the fourth revolution that has occurred in manufacturing. From the first industrial revolution (mechanization through water and

steam power) to the mass production and assembly lines using electricity in the second, the fourth industrial revolution will take what was started in the third with the adoption of computers and automation and enhance it with smart and autonomous systems fueled by data and machine learning.

It’s time to accelerate the pace of change

Preparing for Industry 4.0 The current generation is living through the “Fourth Industrial Revolution”- popularly referred as “Industry 4.0”. As a result, they face complex technologies impacting the way humans learn, communicate and deliver. However, when this happens, education should go through a sea change so as to remain relevant to changing times. Relevance can be brought about by restructuring the educational system and its delivery, especially in the way management education is looked upon. The new world order brought in by automation demands that the management students acquire newer skills. Creative & social intelligence has become a call of the era and has thus set a momentum for management institutes across the world. Students need to be well equipped with these attributes so that they can face the biggest challenge of today i.e. Digital Transformation and bring about effective and efficient communication between different systems. Another challenge that we would face in the era is maintaining integrity between the networks of the Global Value Chain. If creatively achieved, this integrity will bring transparency and flexibility throughout the value chain which will open avenues for creation of completely new business models.

Indira Institute of Management, Pune (IIMP) proposes to compete and respond in the most complex landscape of diverse educational models, management systems and culture through courses and student-centric learning, with “Relevance” (fulfilling the purpose of education through authentic and real-life context) and “Rigour” (challenging students to think in new and different ways). The ever-increasing and often-conflicting demands from multiple stakeholders, have helped us develop the required educational framework that promotes adaptability, creative problem-solving and quality leadership. We ensure to inculcate an innate sense of curiosity and affinity for originality and a habit of deeper thinking that stand the students in good stead for the digital age. IIMP, being an initiator of change, invites budding managers and future leaders, to join the game, move the world forward, innovate and become responsible business leaders.

"I strongly believe Indira imbibes a sense of self belief & does great work to ensure that student realize their potential. One of the key elements in this journey of exploring our talent was the CLOP programme. The lectures delivered by industry renowned speakers with their deep sectorial insights were truly enriching. Their wealth of experience helped us in deciding whether to take the entrepreneurial route or decide the company based on our areas of interest. This weekly session was something we used to look forward to, in fact prepare ourselves to get the best out of the experts. In India, lot is written in newspapers about industry big-wigs believing that there is a growing divide between the academics & real industry challenges; in my opinion CLOP at Indira is a BIG step inbridging this divide."

It is a widely accepted fact that rapid economic growth can happen only with the help of amply skilled managers and leaders, who will give the country a desired impetus for the development of each sector. This has become possible with the leap of management education, especially in India. The gamut of this leap has outreached large heterogeneous sections of society across Academia and Industry. What made wonders in the past will become obsolete in the future. Thus, creating new and better courses and customizing them as per the interest of the Industry and students is the need of the current management education system. At IIMP we focus on Value Based Education because of its diversity, profound cultural base, collective thinking and possession of self-respect. IIMP is the flagship institute of Shree Chanakya Education Society’s (SCES’s)- Indira Group of Institutes offering the MBA Program:

PEO 1

An MBA Graduate will exhibit System Thinking Approach in integrating core, cross-functional and inter-disciplinary aspects of management leading to organizational excellence.

PEO 2

An MBA graduate will be a solution driven leader, demonstrating creativity and innovativeness, in decision making process working effectively with multi-cultural teams, for providing solutions to complex business problems.

PEO 3

An MBA Graduate will be able to articulate and communicate, effectively, on complex aspects of management with the business community and society at large.

PEO 4

An MBA Graduate will showcase value centered leadership by possessing strong ethical and humane values, enabling him/her to assume a pivotal role in various sectors of the Indian and Global Economy.

PEO 5

An MBA Graduate will remain competent consistently with required knowledge, skills and right attitude, necessary to become catalyst for change, in a volatile and technology-driven global environment

From The Chairperson’s Desk We decided that we would fulfill this need by creating an Institute with a high standard of excellence through professional competence. Quality being the bottom line for us, in the last 25 years, through great teamwork we have and will continue to sculpt the students into competitive, empathetic, optimistic individuals who will strive to succeed in every challenge they are faced with and ultimately can contribute to the betterment of the society and nation. Education has unbelievable power which helps in making one self-dependent and provides new possibilities and opportunities to become a problem solver and excellent decision maker.

STRAIGHT FROM THE FOUNDERS

Now is the time for us to get creative, innovative and re-calibrate our approach towards education and help the students create valuable lifelong learning experiences for themselves. The Indira group has proven itself as a vibrant and stellar institution in the field of professional education and research.

As we embark our 25th year, many emotional thoughts cloud my mind. I was a young lady with a secure job with a multinational company when I made a courageous decision to step out of my comfort zone with the strength of character to venture into an unknown “Education is not the field in the world of education. I was clear from the very beginning that learning of facts, but harmonious and healthy society can the training of the only be based on an educated mind to think.” populace. - Albert Einstein

As we have entered into our Silver Jubilee Year, we hold our heads high and with renewed energy pledge that we will continue our journey of imparting quality “Legacy is not education which will have a lasting leaving something impact on the generations to come. for people. It’s I wish you the very best for future! Dr. Tarita Shankar Chairperson, Indira Group of Institutes, Pune

From The Director’s Desk

From The Group Director’s Desk Dear Aspiring leaders,

The fourth industrial revolution will thus affect the roles that institutes perform while preparing students to make them industry ready, as they are ideally required to help produce workforce for this new world in particular, by creating a delivery mechanism and policy framework that would encourage innovativeness.

Indira Group of Institutes is celebrating its Silver Jubilee year in 2019. It’s been a great journey with our first flagship institute ‘Indira Institute of Management, Pune launched in 1994 with a single MBA program and creating a legacy of renowned quality educational institutes offering a variety of UG/PG programs under the aegis of the Indira Group of Institutes.

Indira Institute of Management, Pune (IIMP) constantly aims to upscale on - going efforts taken to improve quality of technical education by enhancing existing capacities. We believe that this drive of improvement will equip us to remain vibrant and receptive to rapid economic and technological developments, at national and international levels.

I am very proud to mention here that our glorious accomplishment is, that all our students are spread across the globe and are holding senior management positions in reputed industries. Their huge contribution to global economy and society is noteworthy. In addition to this many have embarked on an entrepreneurial journey. Apart from a solid grounding in their core field of study, today our students possess ‘Industry 4.0 skill set’ - the skills that the modern leaders need - multidimensional personality with emphasis on cognitive and adaptive learning, design intent, collaborative working in an increasingly technology aided workplace, social intelligence etc. IIMP builds these attributes in its students. I whole heartedly welcome you all to be a part of this wonderful journey together. With best wishes, Chetan Wakalkar Group Director & Managing Trustee Indira Group of Institutes, Pune

Advanced technologies like Artificial intelligence, robotics, big data and internet of things are the key elements of the current revolution. These advanced technologies can be encashed only if a similar revolution in the education industry takes place Preparing students for Industry 4.0 implies adapting to the changing world around us. Emerging technological trends bring greater opportunities. These opportunities are not only in the way education is delivered but also the way learners learn. The future for the learners (students) holds greater flexibility in taking ownership of their learning, choosing their mode of engagement in the teaching-learning process and enjoying a personalised adaptive learning experience which is underpinned by transformed teaching methods.

We staunchly believe that teachers are the most important and most powerful force to quality education. Thus, we have a galaxy of talented faculty members with rich and relevant industry experience to bring the board room battles in the classroom and shape the students to their full potential. We have also experts from reputed industrial houses and renowned academicians as visiting faculty. A vibrant industry interface through seminars, workshops, alumni interaction and industrial visits both in India and abroad helps students get a feel of the real business world before they actually take a plunge into it. We welcome you to the portals of IIMP and hope that you will very soon join the ranks of the thousands of students who have passed through the gates of this venerable institution and believed in the intellect the Institute has always provided. With Best Wishes, Dr. Pandit Mali Director Indira Institute of Management, Pune

Faculty Development Programme IIMP Faculty at IIM-Ahmedabad “Design Thinking, Personal Effectiveness, Coaching & Mentoring” organized on July 22 – 23, 2018

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Indira Institute of Management conducts in-house Faculty Development Programme (FDP) every year where we invite speakers from Industry and Academics to our campus to gain insights on the untouched areas of the corporate world. The basic purpose of these programmes is to develop faculty members gradually every year as per their need in career. Hence on July 22 – 23 2018 a 2 days in-house FDP was organized on campus. The Theme of FDP was “Design Thinking”. It was conducted to develop faculty members in the area of Design Thinking, Problem Solving, Creative Thinking, Customer Centricity, Personal Effectiveness, Coaching and Mentoring. The trainers Mr. Atul Nevase, Senior Consultant, Tech Mahindra Limited and Mr. Shantanu Sen Sharma, Chief Mentor and Co-Founder of Ozone Education Consultancy were invited for conducting the FDP. In the recent Industry scenario, all functions in a company must be aligned with the Customers. It is necessary that the management students possess this mindset irrespective of their areas of specialization (like HR, Operations, Finance) and that they participate in Customer Acquisition and Maintenance. Increasing Personal Effectiveness with respect to Tasks, Managing Relationships, talent of Influencing and Information Processing are the essential qualities for the managers of tomorrow, especially in the VUCA world. These complex situations have forced the Management Institutes to redefine the way students are groomed. A large part of a teacher’s work is in developing students through a process of Coaching and Mentoring. This is particularly true in a VUCA world where the Jobs of tomorrow do not even exist today. Hence the FDP aimed to help the faculty to face such challenges of tomorrow where they become responsible in shaping the budding managers who would face the upcoming challenge in the future.

Post Graduate Research Center (PGRC)

Indirapreneur Cell

In the present education scenario, there is need of good academicians/professionals and researchers who can impart current knowledge of the respective disciplines to the students with up dated tools and techniques and are specialized in the field of research especially in the field of management. It was noted that, though there are many aspirants for the degree of Ph. D in Management, because of shortage of recognized available guides and time consuming registration procedure, many aspirants are unable to proceed ahead towards fulfilling their dreams. SCES’s IIMP has excelled in the field of Management Research since 2007, by creating a centre for research and registering students for Ph. D in Management. The centre is recognized by Savitribai Phule Pune University (Formerly University of Pune). PGRC provides guidance to the Ph. D students in the following areas of specialization:

“Entrepreneurs take the route less traversed.” Indirapreneur Cell of IIMP, since its inception in year 2008 has always believed in this philosophy. Indirapreneur Cell was constituted to promote entrepreneurial ecosystem within the institute. The Student Council at Indira Institute of Management is the official student body in an interlocutory role to support the endeavours of the students, in line with the norms, practices and traditions of IIMP. In essence, the Student Council works in cohorts with the Director, Dy.Director and the faculty to ensure systematic delivery of curricular and extracurricular activities in a manner that is exciting and yet intellectually satisfying. Another important aspect that the Council is tasked with is honing unique “Indira culture” in the newcomers i.e. of disciplined learning and fun. The primary focus that the Council of 2019-20 have to serve would be as ‘role model’ for all within the entire institute and the world beyond. It is constituted as under:

27

Vice President (Discipline) Mr. Brajnandan and Ms. Yogita Yelgulwar Any learning, if it were to happen, can happen only when it is imbibed with humility and discipline. The role of Vice President becomes important particularly from the point of view of ensuring enthusiastic students’ participations in every activity that happens in the institute or is organized by the institute, whether it is curricular or extra-curricular. This means he will constantly be inter-acting with the students and faculty, as also the other council members to ensure the directives given by the Director/Dy.Director are carried out in letter and spirit.

He, therefore, works with all his Council colleagues, besides Faculty/Dy.Director/Director to realize even higher standards of performance for an IIMPIAN.

Vice President (Abhivyakti) Mr. Ninad Deshpande (President) “Abhivyakti” as the name suggests is “expressing self”. At IIMP we encourage innovative and ‘out-of-box’ thought process. And we believe, expression of such thoughts in the business context not only builds character but also breeds business leadership. The Vice President (Abhivyakti) is responsible to keep this high octane activity going with full and very pro-active participation of students, in consultation with his Council colleagues and Faculty/Dy.Director/Director

Vice President (Alumni) Ms. Gargi Choudhary Any institute worth its salt must lean on the symbiotic relationship it builds with its alumni. Besides being our brand ambassadors they contribute immensely by sharing their experiences and professional insights with the students on the campus. Vice President (Alumni) is responsible to ensure we are in touch with

Alumni at all times, besides organizing activities in consultation with their Council colleagues/Faculty/Dy.Director/Director that enhances the Alumni relationships.

Talentine: 2018-19

Classical Dance The classical dance form for this year’s Talentine was Kathak. The dance was performed by first year girls and theme for their classical dance was based on the stories and life of Lord Krishna.

Bollywood Dance

Talentine event is conducted at Indira Institute of Management every year to showcase talent of individuals who get admitted to the MBA and PGDM courses. The idea behind Talentine is to give students a platform to showcase their talent through singing, dancing and acting. The event is performed by first year students and co-ordinated by the second year students. This year, Talentine -2018 was held on 15th September 2018. Following performances were held this year: Classical Dance Bollywood Dance Singing Hip hop Dance Drama Stand Up Comedy Theme Dance

The Bollywood song was a perfect blend of old songs and new ones. The performance was full of energy and enthusiasm and it reverberated throughout the audience.

Singing Singing has always been the medium to connect and win the hearts of the audience. The singers of 1st year through their melodious voices sang several songs which enthralled the audience and made them sway with the tunes.

Hip Hop Dance One of the most ingenious performances of the day was the tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The dancers performed on one of MJ’s most iconic number, “Smooth Criminal.” This performance was followed by a couple of Bollywood numbers, signifying a perfect fusion between Indian culture and the culture from the west.

Drama The drama at Talentine is an amazing platform for students who are passionate about acting. The theme for this year’s drama was the illegal act of “Dowry”. Even after being abolished by law, in some parts of the country, still this tradition continuing. The students decided to take this topic in a comical fashion to create an impact on the audience.

Stand-up Comedy Laughter, as they say, is the best medicine. This year, at Talentine, students introduced this medicine to the audience. Students had a great mimic and comedian amongst them who in a hilarious way attracted attention of the audience.

Theme dance The theme dance which was performed by the students was based on the recent tragedy that shook India. It was dedicated to the people who lost everything in recent Kerala floods. The highlight of the performance was how at the end, we Indians all came together to support our brothers and sisters in distress.

Disciplinary Policy At Indira ATTENDANCE

The students of INDIRA are required to maintain a minimum of 85% attendance every semester. Any student failing to meet the above standard is liable for disciplinary action and in addition will not be allowed to participate in the Campus Recruitment Program. Feedback based on the monthly monitoring of attendance helps students maintain the minimum required attendance. Every student is informed about his / her attendance through ERP Account provided by the institute.

DRESS CODE

At INDIRA, we believe in inculcating a sense of discipline and belongingness in the students by observing a strict dress code. Students are expected to wear formal dress (shirt & trousers for gents; sari / salwarkameez for ladies) throughout the week. One day in a week will be designated as ‘casual day’. This day is decided depending upon the academic calendar of the students. On the occasion of guest lectures, seminars, etc. students are expected to be dressed in the INDIRA uniform (Blazers, tie, shirt, trousers). A student failing to adhere to the dress code will not be allowed to attend the lectures and will face disciplinary action.

HOSTEL RULES

The boys and girls hostels at INDIRA have a set of rules which have to be adhered to strictly by the students. Each hostel is headed by a warden who acts as a facilitator and observer to maintain the discipline in the hostels and ensure its smooth functioning. Students opting to stay in the hostel will have to sign an undertaking in accepting the rules set by the management.
