Message from the President

• PRARG continues to welcome many new and renewing members through February/ March and to April meeting. The first ribbon day for the year on 12th March was almost like an open day with so many members riding. It also included the 1st leg of the QOTT series with an excellent response, so good that the dressage committee had to make some hard decisions on capacity on the grounds. The result was that QOTT classes were held Saturday afternoon with some of the protocol sessions. The balance of the ribbon day was held on the Sunday. Despite this and with a lot of scratching's on the Sunday the day was relaxed with lots of social interacting happening. An enormous thank to Sarah Webster who is the coordinator from dressage for the QOTT series for getting all the stud book names etc. correct and looking after the prize giving etc. Results are in the newsletter. In addition the club welcomes Monarch Standardbred Stud for sponsoring the judges choice on these ORR days.

• Clinics – Thanks to EQ for $1000 towards the Protocol Day (already held)/ Super clinic Easter Monday with Jacqui Huppert, Jeanette Bourke & Liz Coe. Another successful day (thanks Kylie Rye) as clinic coordinator. The Pole Clinic 29/4 is the last segment of the grant to be run.

• Grounds PRARG has been successful with a maintenance grant from LCC which is targeting the “jungle” along the yards from the 1 through to the container. The club is responsible for maintaining a 2 metre strip along out fence line. When we get a date for the machinery to come in we will be closing the grounds for a couple of days. We are working on the early part of the week to minimise disruption to the members..

• Again RASDEG, PRARG and CDG are running the Great South East OTT series in 2023 with RASDEG running the first leg 16th April. PRARG;s leg is in September..

• SPONSORS There are opportunities for businesses or members wishing to support the club at the forthcoming *Championships (Med to Prix) 14th May and Pony Spectacular & official day on 4th June. If you are interested please contact me for a sponsorship proposal letter.

• .Last but not least don’t forget the SADDLERY MARKET on Anzac Day public holiday. Flyer in the newsletter. Support this great fund raiser for the club and sell your own not wanted items and of course, BUY MORE!.

HAPPY RETIREMENT Russell. You have been an active for the member for the past 12 years and you finished on a high note in 2022 winning the 70+ trophy and runner up in the FEI trophy. The club hopes you still occasionally will come down and see your PRARG horsey friends.

Horses – for trophy points: Must be;

(a)Owner ridden/leased

(b)Owned by a financial member and regularly ridden by another financial member

Points are gained and applied to one horse and one rider. They are not transferable if the rider buys another horse or leases another horse or leases that horse to another club member.

The dressage committee has done and is able to do ownership checks via the Nominate entries. If members have any queries—please contact Kay or Maria (secretary).

IMPORTANT RULES TO FOLLOW AT PRARG GROUNDS

The expectation from our Management Committee, Insurance Provider, Logan Council and Equestrian Australia is to ensure that only financial members of PRARG and registered competitors are permitted to ride on the grounds. To maintain our excellent reputation as a compliant and diligent club this warning reminder is stated:

Do not allow your friends or other persons to ride your horse while on the grounds. A coach may but must have either EA insurance or their own a certificate of currency.

There are no exceptions from this ruling and a serious penalty process will apply to anyone who jeopardises the rule. The rules we apply are to protect, one and all, so we expect that you will understand and respect this warning.

INSURANCE

As a rider at PRARG, unless you are a FINANCIAL member of Equestrian Australia (via EQ), you are NOT covered for personal injury should you have a fall at the grounds.

You are covered 24/7 for personal injury as an EA member when you ride. This benefit alone should be reason enough to join, either as a supporter, recreational, participant or competitor.

A Property Identification Code (PIC) is used by Biosecurity Queensland and is unique to your property.

This code is necessary for maintaining property and livestock records as part of the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS).

These requirements:

• Protect our livestock industries from pests and diseases

• Provide a system for individual or group identification if your stock are removed from your property

• Allow you to record individual performance data for management and breeding purposes.

All Queensland properties that have livestock, such as cattle and horses, must have a PIC number.

If you have not already provided PRARG with your PIC number when joining or renewing your membership, please email this through to prarg.membership@gmail.com

Failure to register your property can result in a $4,000 fine.
