Message from the President

2023 Calendar Dates

As the year draws towards an end especially competitions and clinics the club starts to focus on festivities and of course trophy night, AGM and Christmas fun. After enjoying Neds Steakhouse in Beaudesert for Christmas in July we have booked the restaurant on 18th November. The flyer is on the FB and in this newsletter. We have made the cost very affordable for members and their family and friends so please come along and enjoy a night out without our four legged friends.

Open EA Days

* AGM – as always we need people to volunteer and take on certain roles within the management committee and separately the dressage committee and if there is interest from a couple of people then forming hack and show jumping committees. Some of the management committee positions will be recontested by existing members but one very important position that is vacant is that of MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY. Angela Arkadieff who has held the position since we put our membership through Nominate is stepping down and this role has become a pivotal part of the club’s structure. You will need computer skills and knowledge of Excel and Word, be internet savvy and be able to work through the backend of Nominate (there is a detailed instruction list available). The position does not require you to attend meetings regularly but at the monthly meeting you will present the meeting with new/existing members for approval. If you think you might be able to take on this position and are not able to come to the AGM, please contact me. * The competitions for trophies will be finalised after the Fun Day on 22nd October. OPEN POINTS must go to Jess Merlo and Jess’s email address for results. * Super Clinics on 10th September and 14th October with funding from Equestrian Queensland Sports Development Fund and Active Queensland. These clinics were held, some with reduced numbers. The biomechanics clinic with Natasha Gunson was well received. Once the DQ calendar is sorted the dressage committee will start to look at clinic options for 2024. * The QOTT series was finalised on 24th September with results in the newsletter. Congratulations to those winners who will receive their prizes at the PRARG trophy night. Thank you also to Sarah Webster who was the organiser behind the scenes of this series. * Saddlery Market – 28th October – Not too long to wait. Lots of people will be looking for bargains so start cleaning and sorting your gear.

We would like to thank Mike Winwood for the installation of our new gate down the far end of the 10 Minute Arena & and also our front gate - very much appreciated.

It’s time to return the EOY Perpetual Trophies you have won.

Please return these at either the Fun Day this Sunday or our Saddlery Market on the 28th of this month.

PRARG OTT LEADER BOARD RESULTS Well done to all competitors and congratulations to our Champions and Reserve Champions. Each OTT class also included a ‘Judge’s Choice’, sponsored by Monarch Farm Standardbreds.

The Champion for each level wins 2 x Dressage Lessons with a QOTT coach valued at $90 per lesson, with the Reserve Champion receiving 1 x Dressage Lesson as above. An embroidered rug for the Champions and embroidered bridle bag for the Reserve Champions will be presented at the PRARG Trophy Dinner & AGM later this year! Each Champion & Reserve Champion have received a complimentary ticket to the dinner.

Information

Dear JSC’s, Following a query about how to handle the issue of the riders learning the wrong test and the C judges allowing the rider to go out of the test and learn the correct test the EADOC will make the following Directive for Procedure for Competitive classes where a rider has learnt the incorrect test. These are the classes which are used for qualifications of all types whether state or national.

The usual process would be to ring the bell and confirm with the rider that they have learnt the wrong test and immediately give them the opportunity to read the correct test and see if they can recall it. If they can’t recall it inform the rider that they will be allowed to have a caller if one is immediately in the vicinity. (To facilitate the draw timetable). This is only applicable where a caller is allowed under EA rules. Either way an error is applied, and judging commences from the point where the error was made. If none of this has been possible or the rider decides not to continue, they are counted as Retiring. That is their choice.

Where an event such as State and National championships does not permit callers, as per Rule 10.3, learning the wrong test would probably lead to elimination.”

Under no circumstances is the rider permitted to leave the arena and come back at a later time. This would constitute elimination.

Of course, at a Participant or Restricted Club event, the judge may choose to follow a different process in order to be “rider friendly”.

Please do not arrive to line up for access through the gate earlier than 5.15am, the gate will not be opened until 5.30am. Payments will be collected on entry. Exact cash preferred for speedy entry but eftpos available if required.

Stall holders will need to complete a waiver form and hand to gate keeper with payment. Limited numbers of printed forms will be available to completed on arrival - ideally please print and prefill a form before coming to speed up entry (can be downloaded from our website www.prarg.com on the Calendar page under ‘Saddlery Market’).

Important Rules to Follow IMPORTANT RULES TO FOLLOW AT PRARG GROUNDS The expectation from our Management Committee, Insurance Provider, Logan Council and Equestrian Australia is to ensure that only financial members of PRARG and registered competitors are permitted to ride on the grounds.

To maintain our excellent reputation as a compliant and diligent club this warning reminder is stated: Do not allow your friends or other persons to ride your horse while on the grounds.

A coach may but must have either EA insurance or their own a certificate of currency.

There are no exceptions from this ruling and a serious penalty process will apply to anyone who jeopardises the rule.

The rules we apply are to protect, one and all, so we expect that you will understand and respect this warning.

GROUNDS: Anna Flohr - 0407 622 666 INSURANCE As a rider at PRARG, unless you are a FINANCIAL member of Equestrian Australia (via EQ), you are NOT covered for personal injury should you have a fall at the grounds.

You are covered 24/7 for personal injury as an EA member when you ride. This benefit alone should be reason enough to join, either as a supporter, recreational, participant or competitor.

Details on how to join can be found here www.qld.equestrian.org.au/membership-categories DOGS ON THE GROUNDS As per the club handbook: Dogs on grounds: Dogs are not allowed on the grounds at any time whilst horses are present. Having dogs on the grounds is a risk to the safety of riders and horses. Your assistance in complying is sought – see By Law No 14. This is different when at the Saddlery Market as under LCC lease, the day is a fundraiser and dogs are allowed on a leash. If members have an exemption for their dog i.e. assistance dog please email this paperwork to: prarginc81@bigpond.com.

REDEEMING VOUCHERS As members know vouchers are handed out to those who work and in return you use them towards entries to events/functions/merchandise etc. However many members are not submitting their vouchers in for event entries. Ideally please attach to your HHD or at a minimum give us the voucher number. We have a limited ability within the Nominate entry to record the above.

These vouchers are paper money and the treasurer needs to keep track of them. To all the members who have lots of vouchers to use—thank you as you a great volunteer.

KEEPING THE ARENAS CLEAN Members, if your horse does a manure in the arena, please clean up as it leaves a mess for the next person riding and for when members are harrowing the arenas for competitions. Over the years we have had rakes but they have gone walking. Normally you carry a shovel/rake in your float. A rake will be provided by the club again and will be positioned in the undercover area.
