Happy New Year! Another year has come and gone. Time flies so fast. It’s time to take down the Christmas tree and bring in the New Year with a fresh new start. With the ending of another year of our lives, we must not look back at the past, but look forward to a new beginning with 2016. I have read many of the post on Facebook which includ“Brethren, I count not myself ed getting rid of hatters. You to have apprehended: but this know those people who are not one thing I do, forgetting those in your corner. The people who left you again last year. I must things which are behind, admit that I had a big laugh beand reaching forth unto those cause these are the same post things which are before,” I’ve been reading since 2009 and every year after. Enough al—Philippians 3:13 ready! It’s 2016. It’s time to put the hater songs and sermons in the sea of forgetfulness never to be heard again. If you are are still talking about people you have to get rid of it’s time to take a big look in the mirror at this point. Nine times out of ten they are saying the same thing about you. 2015 was a great year and I am looking forward to 2016 with great expectation. I’ve gain new friends while enjoying the friendship of old relationships. Yes I have had some difficult times. I said that 2015 was a great year not a perfect year. But to quote Dorinda Clark Cole, “I am still here and it’s by the grace of God.” That alone is something to celebrate and thank almighty God. Bring the past only if you are going to build from it. ~Doménico Cieri Estrada. What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new.

Right now! This is also the time of the year that many people make “New Year Resolutions.” For the saints Declarations and Decrees.” However, statistics show that after six months, fewer than half of the people who make New Year’s Resolutions are still upholding them. After one year, that percentage drops to about 10 percent. I gave up New Year’s Resolutions many years ago… I didn’t need statistics to realize that I, personally, didn’t keep them either, in a timely matter. I’ve learned, however, that the secret to New Year’s Resolutions is not to make a promise once a year and try so hard to make it work. The true secret is to slowly make life changing habits that become a part of your life. It doesn’t matter what the “Resolution” is – – stop smoking, clean the house, lose weight, exercise more, tithe, or save money – – the end result is so much better if you just slowly make life changing adjustments to make it work. Making a promise on January 1 might lead to let-down in a few months. Once the let-down has occurred, the mentality of trying again is broken. Slowly making changes in our lifestyles makes for a longer lasting effect. Instead of making a “New Year’s Resolution” make a “Lifestyle resolution.” “If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.” – Albert Einstein. I hope all of you, our faithful readers, will be richly blessed in the upcoming new year. May you all find peace, love and happiness in all that you do in this upcoming new year. Furthermore, always remember to cherish your loved ones; for one day/year they might not be here to show your love to! Until then… see you around the town. Ivory D. Payne Publisher

The State of Discipleship Two thousand years ago, Jesus approached twelve seemingly unsuspecting Galileans and bid them: “Come, follow me.” For the next three years, they walked alongside him as he discipled them. Toward the end of his earthly ministry, Jesus commissioned his disciples to go and do the same—to take the Gospel message to the world and make disciples in all the nations. The Great Commission is an audacious undertaking, all the more so given the fast and sweeping changes taking place in the broader culture. People are lonelier, more distracted and more tethered to their screens, and searching for meaningful lives. As Christians bring the unchanging message of the Gospel to the world, effective approaches to discipleship become more important, especially in a world that is increasingly polarized around spiritual issues. So what is the current state of discipleship in the U.S.? Is the church effective in its efforts? Are churchgoers involved in discipleship activities, and if so, which models do they prefer? And perhaps most importantly, do investments in discipleship actually affect spiritual growth? To answer these questions, Barna Group, commissioned by The Navigators and NavPress, conducted a comprehensive, multi-phase research study among Christian adults, church leaders, exemplar discipleship ministries and Christian educators. Here’s what the research uncovered. What We Mean When We Say… The research examined the language and terminology surrounding discipleship. We asked a random sample of Christians—including practicing and non-practicing Christians—what words or phrases they use to describe “the process of growing spiritually.” The most preferred term was “becoming more Christ-like” (selected by 43%

of respondents), followed by “spiritual growth” (31%), and “spiritual journey” (28%). The term “discipleship” ranked fourth on the list and was only selected by fewer than one in five Christians (18%). “Spiritual maturation” was next (16%). “Sanctification” (9%) and “spiritual formation” (5%) were relatively unused phrases among the general population of Christians. Interestingly, the more active the person in spiritual activities, the more likely he or she is to use the phrase “becoming Christlike.” In contrast, the “spiritual journey” language is most preferred among non-practicing Christians. Among those who did not select the term “discipleship,” we asked if the word still has relevance to their Christian experience. Surprisingly, only one-quarter of these respondents said “discipleship” is very relevant. The implication is that while spiritual growth is very important to tens of millions, the language and terminology surrounding discipleship seems to be undergoing a change, with other phrases coming to

be used more frequently than the term “discipleship” itself. Effective Discipleship? Christian adults believe their churches are doing well when it comes to discipleship: 52 percent of those who have attended church in the past six months say their church “definitely does a good job helping people grow spiritually” and another 40 percent say it “probably” does so. Additionally, two-thirds of Christians who have

attended church in the past six months and consider spiritual growth important say their church places “a lot” of emphasis on spiritual growth (67%); another 27 percent say their church gives “some” emphasis. Church leaders, conversely, tend to believe the opposite is true. Only 1 percent say “today’s churches are doing very well at discipling new and young believers.” A sizable majority— six in 10—feels that churches are discipling “not too well” (60%). Looking at their own church, only 8 percent say they are doing “very well” and 56 percent “somewhat well at discipling new and young believers.” Thus, pastors give their own church higher marks than churches overall, but few believe churches—their own or in general—are excelling in discipleship. Not surprisingly, emphasis on discipleship is correlated with higher faith engagement. Three-quarters of practicing Christians, who have attended church in the past month and consider their faith very important, say their church places “a lot” of emphasis on spiritual growth (73%), while only 40 percent of non-practicing Christians say the same. PR•INSPIRATION

The Way of Holiness By Essie Johnson

And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it. Isaiah 35:8 Have you ever closed your eyes and drifted back in your memory to your long ago home. It may or may not be the place where you were born but it is the place where you felt loved. It is the place where you felt secure and the place that felt like home. The time was coming when God’s people would return from exile. They would retire to the familiar, their home that they longed to see. Some knew it only through the memories and stories of others who had made the journey into captivity. Even though they had never physically been there, it was home. The prophet spoke of that day when they would travel on God’s path to reach their destination; the way would be the way of Holiness. How else can any of us arrive at our right destination except we tread the path and way of holiness? We serve a holy God and so it follows that when we, his people make the journey it can only be on the way of holiness.

Many travelers must fear the possibility of terrorist, robbers, and other threats that normally exist in travel but not God’s people. On the Way of holiness there is nothing to be feared. There is only the promise of joy that will overtake the travelers when they finally step foot on home territory. We too are here in a strange land and we too are preparing for our trip home. It is a home we have not seen but when we close our eyes and lean back we can feel the joy surrounding us, we look forward to being united with our spiritual family. The song writer. said simply, “Evening train may be too late I’m going home on the morning train. Prayer: Thank you Lord for a future with you. Thank you for a heart that rejoices knowing that we are traveling on a path that is created by you alone, the Way of Holiness. Help us to keep our feet securely in your pathway and help us to make this journey.

January 28 -30th, 2016

T

his January, Louisiana is in for three lifechanging encounters as Tony Kemp will be in our state sharing the gospel and miracle working power of Jesus Christ, hosted by Pastor Darryl Phoenix, pastor of Enlighted Fellowship in Hammond, LA. God Almighty, by definition, is supernatural. After the Lord Jesus was crucified and resurrected, He was seated at the right hand of the Father and on the day of Pentecost sent the supernatural Spirit of God into the believers. The original church moved in signs, wonders and miracles; and, as a result there were many salvations and people were delivered from the evil one! Over the centuries the supernatural was lost in the church, and the time has come for it to be recovered. There are degrees of the supernatural. There is a difference between someone being healed of a headache and the deaf hearing. There is a difference between the lame walking and the dead being raised to life. There is a difference between general words of knowledge and specific words of knowledge. The School of the Supernatural is designed to make a believer successful in every area of life from marriage to the marketplace! The principles that are taught in the school

have moved people from the projects into making a million dollars a year! It has taught the average believer how to expel demons, heal the sick, bring the dead to life, lead many into salvation and caused the church to prosper. Whether it is a one day school or a three day school, believers are inspired to know God much more deeply and intimately, and their spiritual hunger has grown and their participation in church increased! As believers have learned to declare the word of the Lord and see supernatural demonstrations of both the presence and the power of God, they have become excited. Sinners have been converted to Christ in restaurants, convenience stores, at the mall and in the community! There is a new excitement to both learn as well as practice the Word of God and minister in the Holy Spirit to others in need. The mission of the School of the Supernatural is to build up the body of Christ, equip the believers to do the work of the ministry, and conform people to the person of Jesus in the Fruit of the Spirit, the Gifts of the Spirit and the manifestation of God’s power and glory. Secondly, it connects believers and networks those who want to see heaven invade earth, a great revival and a spiritual awakening

among the people! Thirdly it provides a place where believers can practice moving in the supernatural and develop their skills in the Spirit of God! Next School Saturday, January 30th, 2016 DoubleTree Hotel 2150 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Kenner, LA 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Registration is $ 125.00. Register online at www.tonykemp.com. About Tony Kemp Tony Kemp received the Messiah Jesus in 1972. He then began serving in the church as a deacon and later became a youth pastor. Several years later, he became an associate pastor and then a parish pastor, and preached the Good News concerning Jesus the Messiah for years. During that 26 years of ministry, Tony saw maybe 100 people receive Jesus into their hearts. Tony prayed for many sick people but only saw maybe 10 people healed. The 10 who he did see healed by Jesus had stomachaches or backaches, but no serious diseases like the blind, deaf, or crippled. Tony began looking at the ministry of the Messiah Jesus. He looked at the Bible, the Word of God, and what it says. He looked at the Book of Acts and what it said the apostles did. And then He began to go on a search.

Tony began to watch, study, and learn from Sid Roth’s show “It’s Supernatural” up to eight hours a day. During that time, he learned keys on how to move in the supernatural ministry of Jesus the Messiah. Since that time, Tony has witnessed Jesus causing the blind to see, the deaf to hear, and the lame to walk, as well as many different kinds of creative miracles. Tony has also been recognized for strong gifting in the word of knowledge, wisdom, prophecy, and discerning of spirits. Many have been saved, healed, delivered, and touched by the presence and the power God. He now is a pastor to other pastors and ministers the revelation of Jesus the Messiah to the nations. For 40 years, Tony has preached the Gospel in various denominations and independent churches. His teachings are rooted and grounded in the revelation of God’s unconditional, unchanging love for us. His ministry is in prophetic revelation, discipleship, leadership, church government, evangelism, and dynamics of the Holy Spirit. Tony travels extensively with his wife of more than 34 years, Deborah, proclaiming GOD’S WORD WORKS. Together they enjoy one natural son and many spiritual sons and daughters.

PR•INSPIRATION By: Kerwin Fealing “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?” We all are familiar with this passage of scripture but we would never consider it as an answer to a question. Whoever, when Leora “Lee” Jones is asked about the many accomplishments and successes that she has encountered, this just might be the answer she would give. If you asked this published author, teacher, secretary, consultant, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, promoter, producer, coordinator “How is it that you at age 76 are still able to wear so many hats and wear them well?” Her answer would probably be, “The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid “ When first approached about doing this article, Lee/Ms. Jones/Mommee wanted to make it very clear that she didn’t want this to appear to be a spotlight on her, but more of a vehicle that would be used to deliver inspiration, encouragement and empowerment to others, and an opportunity to share the fact that you are never too old to do great things for God and The Kingdom.

Free Seminar “How to Love an Abused Woman” Comes to Folsom, LA Wo m a n 2Woman & The Women of Wise Counsel “How to Love an Abused Woman Seminar” was created by Life Coach, Miranda Higgins McGhee. The seminar took place SaturMiranda Higgins day, August 15, McGhee 2015 in LaPlace, LA. Everyone who attended celebrated the success that took place on this great day. Lives were transformed, people were set free from years of bondage and abuse, and many were healed from emotional and physical hurts. St. John The Baptist Parish President, Natalie Robottom, was in attendance, and her words of wisdom spoke volumes to the seminar attendees. Her message to the attendees was to take what they learned and adhere to it, and this will have a lasting effect on everyone that had an ear to hear. The seminar was held at the beautiful fellowship hall located at 701 Colony Park Dr., LaPlace, LA, compliments of Dr. Henry L. Hardy, Chairman, Board of Trustees of The St. Michael Baptist Church, Inc., who made it possible for the “How to Love an Abused Woman Seminar” to take place. Thanks go to W. R. Grace and

Co. who sponsored the delightful breakfast for the seminar attendees and to Danika Foley with KWBJ Radio Station in Morgan City, LA for conducting a live interview on behalf of the seminar. Woman2Woman is so grateful to L’Observateur Newspaper Company in LaPlace, LA for playing an intricate part in the seminar’s exposure. the much needed help that would be provided. Special appreciation to the outstanding speakers: Dr. Adriona Taylor, Minister Patranella Washington, Minister Natascha and Andrew Tyler and the worshiper EJ Encalarde. Testimonial 1 - New Orleans, LA “I left feeling grateful, inspired, and hopeful. You guys changed my view of what an abused woman looks like. Seeing speaker Miranda McGhee “free” allowed me to have an example of what a free wom-

an looks like. Sometimes you may never see someone make it; I now see myself being free and achieving my goals. It was amazing seeing the support of the men and women speakers as an attendee. This event was so needed and I really enjoyed myself!” Testimonial 2 - LaPlace, LA “This program is so essential and the need in the area is so great! Speaking from my own personal experiences, after attending the seminar I thought I had it together, but realized that I needed some guidance and direction to begin my healing process. This seminar was a breakthrough for me. I will stay in contact and will seek counseling through this organization.” Testimonial 3 - Kenner, LA “The “How to Love an Abused Woman Seminar” was a life changing, enlightening event that was educational and therapeutic for both men and women. My mother and I attended to address years of enduring domestic abuse. The spiritual, mental, and physical health solutions offered during the seminar helped us move forward in our lives. More events like this are needed to help rebuild families from the devastation of domestic violence. Hopefully, this is the start of a movement to improve our communities.” For a seminar in your area visit www. girltalkoflouisiana.com or call 888.598.1116.

PR•Eats & Treats Simple, Satisfying Soup for Supper (Family Features) A hearty, flavorful bowl of soup on a chilly night is hard to beat. But if the thought of preparing soup from scratch makes you think “nice idea, but too time consuming,” it’s time to rethink soup making. Minimum prep and maximum flavor is what you get with Southwestern Bean and Pasta Soup. It goes together quickly, using both fresh and prepared ingredients. The beans and southwestern seasonings from READ Southwestern Bean Salad jumpstart this soup – both in flavor and sustenance. Sauteed fresh vegetables add extra color and nutrition. The pasta cooks along with the other ingredients to save yet another step. Make it vegetarian or add ground beef or poultry – either way, it’s delicious. Serve this versatile soup meal to the family, or double the recipe and invite the neighbors over for a simple supper that’s on the table in under an hour. Offer toppings such as avocado, sour cream and cilantro to dress it up for company. Additional tasty, timesaving recipes can be found at readsalads.com.
