George Maxey’s journey in agriculture began in his childhood in Illinois, where he was active in 4-H, raised registered Berkshire hogs, and milked his family’s cows. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, George and his wife, Jean, moved to Weld County in 1954, where he began his lifelong career in dairy farming. In 1955, he showcased his first animals at the Weld County Harvest Fair, a tradition he would continue until his passing in 2024. His love for the county fair was evident as he exhibited his cattle and watched with pride as his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren followed in his footsteps.

George demonstrated an unwavering dedication to agriculture and to the Weld County Fair. As a strong supporter of 4-H, he helped guide countless youth, not only as a leader of the Box Elder Ag 4-H Club for 18 years but also by sharing his wealth of knowledge with

the next generation of exhibitors. His love for exhibiting cattle and his deep respect for the fairgrounds was not only about competition, but about connection—connecting with people, sharing knowledge, and learning from others. He traveled to numerous county fairs to connect with fellow breeders and showcase his top-quality Holsteins.

but also a dedicated leader in the dairy industry, George received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the Outstanding Young Farmer Award and the State 4-H Alumni Award. His herd of registered Holsteins, originally founded with a heifer calf bred by his predecessor, Carl W. Henry, became renowned for producing nationally recog-

excellence in the industry. George's commitment to the Weld County community extended far beyond farming. He was a long-time member of the Weld County Farm Bureau, the Colorado Holstein Association, and a key figure in many local organizations including the Colorado Farm Show. He was also known for his involvement with Greeley’s Cornerstone Community Church.

MAXEY CONTENTS

A true ambassador for agriculture, George proudly showcased his farm to visitors from all over the world and introduced countless children to the joys of working with dairy cattle. Whether through his work as a 4-H leader, a dairy farmer, or as a friend, George exemplified honesty, generosity, and a true love for the fair. It is with immense pride and gratitude that we dedicate this year’s Weld County Fair to George Maxey. His legacy will continue to inspire and impact future generations of exhibitors, farmers, and fairgoers.

Thank you, George, for your lifelong dedication to agriculture, your unwavering support of the Weld County Fair, and your commitment to the community. You will be greatly missed, but your legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know you.

2025 WELD COUNTY FAIR ROYALTY

Madison Miller, Fair Queen

Hi! My name is Madison Miller, and I am your 2024-2025 Weld County Fair Queen. I am 18 years old and live in Frederick with my mother, Stephanie, and my brother, Wyatt. I recently graduated from Mead High School (MHS), where I was the Captain of the Varsity Cheer team. In addition to

attending MHS, I also attended the Career Elevation and Technology Center (CETC) in Longmont, where I participated in a rigorous work-study program in Agricultural Sciences, allowing me to be a member of the St. Vrain Valley FFA Chapter.

I am also a member of the Tailtwisters 4-H Club in Ft. Lupton, where I serve as the club Vice President. Being a part of 4-H allows

me to volunteer for many different community service projects, including making blankets for the Ft. Lupton

Food and Clothing Bank and Hope at Miracle House, organizing a peanut butter drive for the Ft. Lupton Food and Clothing Bank, and working at the Weld Food Bank.

My fair projects for 4-H this year include canning, model rocketry, rabbit breeding and showmanship. This year marks my fourth year competing at the Weld County Fair and my second year working at the fair as royalty, having served as an attendant last year.

the homemade lemonade stand, and my favorite activity is watching the livestock shows. I love seeing the hard work and dedication of all the participants. It is such an honor handing out all those ribbons and banners to all the winners.

Being your 2024-2025 Weld County Fair Queen has been an incredible experience. I’ve had the opportunity to travel to different communities, meet new people, and share the wonderful aspects of Weld County. It’s been a joy to highlight how special the Weld County Fair is and the importance of agriculture, as Weld County is the largest agricultural producer in Colorado. As your queen, I am honored to promote the message that agriculture is the backbone of our county. I encourage everyone to get involved in the fair, whether as participants or volunteers, and to appreciate the dedication of our local farmers and ranchers.

Addison Tellez, Fair Princess

Some of my favorite memories from past Weld County Fairs include winning my first ribbon for rabbit showmanship, watching my brother participate in the model rocketry competition last year, and spending time with friends and family at the fair. I also cherish the moments when I worked on different events and saw the joy on people’s faces. My favorite part of the fair each year is the sense of community and camaraderie. I love seeing everyone come together to celebrate our agricultural heritage and enjoy the various events and activities.

I decided to run for Weld County Fair Royalty because I wanted to give back to the community that has given me so much. I also wanted to promote the importance of agriculture and inspire others to get involved in 4-H and FFA.

Howdy everyone! My name is Addison Tellez, and I’m honored to be your 2025 Weld County Fair Princess. I’m a freshman at Dayspring Christian Academy and have been a proud participant in the Weld County Fair for two incredible years.

One of my most cherished memories from the Fair was the dance last year, where my friend and I swing danced the entire night. It was so fun! My absolute favorite events at the Fair are the barrel racing and the ranch rodeo. There’s nothing quite like watching the cowboys and cowgirls pour their hearts out in the arena.

My involvement in 4-H and FFA has been instrumental in shaping my future plans. These organizations have provided me with valuable leadership skills, handson experience in agriculture, and a strong sense of community service. They have also inspired my passion for agriculture and my desire to pursue a career in this field. After high school, I plan to attend AIMS Community College in Ft. Lupton to study Agriculture Business, with the goal of working in Agriculture Communications and Media. I also plan on attending an esthetician school as well.

My favorite fair food or drink is

Running for the Weld County Fair Royalty was a dream come true for me. Since I was little, I’ve always wanted to be a rodeo queen. It’s not just about representing my beloved Weld County, but also about promoting agriculture across Colorado and being the face of the fair. I aim to make everyone feel welcome and en-

courage them to step out of their comfort zones and try new things. Sharing how wonderful our fair is with others is something I’m passionate about. It’s amazing to introduce people to the Fair, especially when they didn’t even know it existed.

Being the face of the fair is a role I cherish deeply. My goal is to ensure everyone feels welcome and loved. I’m inspired by the hard work everyone puts into their projects and am proud to represent the County Fair as a sixth-generation Weld County resident.

Looking ahead, I plan to attend college in Wyoming to major in animal sciences with a focus on breeding and genetics. I’ll also be joining the rodeo team to continue barrel racing. After college, I hope to compete for Miss Rodeo Colorado, try to ProRodeo, and eventually breed and sell horses. As for fair food, I have a unique favorite – dehydrated mangos from Mountain Man Nut & Fruit Co. And I can’t resist an iced chai from Buck’N Bean Coffee!

I wish you all the best of luck during the fair! Don’t hesitate to come up and chat with me. I’d love to meet y’all!

Aubrey Storm, Fair Attendant

Hello, my name is Aubrey Storm. I am 17 years old and a senior at Frederick High School. I am a dedicated track athlete, competing in the 100-meter dash,

200-meter dash, and as many relays as my coach assigns me. In addition to athletics, I am passionate about music and actively participate in my school’s choir. Singing has always been a significant part of my life, and some of my favorite memories involve singing around a summer bonfire with friends.

Beyond school, I am involved in 4-H, where I compete in shooting sports in the shotgun discipline and showcase my beautiful mare, Tango. Alongside my horse, I have a loyal dog, Beau Duke, who is always by my side. My parents, Megan and Earl Storm, and my older brother, Kaden Storm have played an essential role in my life, making me into the person I am today and I carry their support with me wherever I go.
