Thinking about buying a
PET STORE PUPPY? If so, chances are its parents are spending lives of misery imprisoned in a puppy mill. That’s how Harley spent his first 10 years.
•
Nearly 100% of puppies sold in pet stores and online come from puppy mills. • Responsible, ethical breeders will NEVER sell their puppies to pet stores. • Over 10,000 puppy mills in the USA produce millions of puppies each year. • Today, hundreds of thousands of breeding dogs are suffering in cages in the USA. • USDA-licensed puppy mills are legal, but their standards are inhumane. • Most puppies born in puppy mills are registered by the AKC or other breed registries. • Puppy mills sell millions of puppies annually through cute—but deceptive—websites. • Most puppy mill dogs live in wire cages that are stacked one on top of another. • When breeding dogs are no longer producing a profit they are typically destroyed. If puppy mills didn’t exist, we believe there would be 75% fewer dogs in shelters.
