POWERSLIDE RACING

Powerslide Racing is the world leader in inline speed skating products and service. Our commitment, passion and focus to our sport can be seen in each and every single product that we develop and produce. Powerslide Racing products have defined a generation of racers and their performance and every year we continue to push these product developments even further. After continuing to prove that our 125mm skates are the future of our sport, it was time to change the game once again with the TRINITY mounting system. TRINITY is designed to increase racing performance through better power transfer, greater stability at higher speeds, and less virbration. Already conquering the podium with European and world titles it’s becoming a favorite of our racing team. TRINITY can now be found in our ICON, XXX, Infusion, PULS, world Cup and Grand Prix skates, as well as custom boots hand made by Sergio McCargo. One of the many highlights in our new racing collection is our updated ICON. A collaboration with our sportswear partner Hunter led us to using their famous Air Stripe material to cut through the wind, and improve aerodynamic efficiency. Also, a special mention to our wheel partners, Matter Racing based in Huntington Beach CA. A complete new look of their world famous brand featuring two brand new products with Propel and the CHR 125mm. Powerslide, WE LOVE TO SKATE

POWERSLIDE RACING

FROM THE OTHER SIDE TEAM INTERVIEW

Often it‘s the stars of our racing team which always get the tough questions thrown at them, however this time we‘ve reversed the roles and got our racing team to ask their ‚bosses‘ some questions. So here goes, Powerslide owner Matthias Knoll and Powerslide Racing division manager, Scott Arlidge answer some questions from their team.

7

8

POWERSLIDE RACING

// TEAM INTERVIEW

ERIKA ZANETTI I know you bike ride together a lot. I have a question for Matthias. Do you feel cheated when there are some downhills? Do you think Scott has some kind of facilitations? MK Yes I felt like this, and really had no chance. But not only due to weight but (even I do not want to admit) Scott is good with the bike downhills, does the super duper aero position etc. I got a new bike (used one) but it is faster than before. So the 1200,- euros was a good investment as now I can keep up better with him downhill. But still he has the weight on his side...but think about going uphill...he has to carry a burden...like Frodo carries the ring (Lord of the Ring). So in some way Scott is also the Lord of the Ring, just not around his finger...

Who’s the first who get at the office in the morning? MK I did always win...until Anna stayed at home, so now sometimes it is close, we both start around 6:45...so as we live close we always watch the other guy in the morning and if he left already...or car still stands there....so the daily race begins at 6:40 and ends when we go to bed. Welcome to the terradome...

SA Yeah, the whole day is pretty much a competition. Most of the time it’s just friendly competition, but I guess it’s actually a reflection of how we approach real life. Always wanting to ‘win’. Whether it’s for me coaching, developing a skate or for Matthias building the brand, we always want to win.

SA Unfortunately, that is true. I’ll admit I like beer and food too much. Fortunately I still have the racers mind, so I don’t mind taking a couple risks as my reaction time is probably still faster LAETHISIA SCHIMEK than Matthias’. Also luckily, we work at an inline skating company, not a cycling company, First 110, then 125 and TRINITY. Powerslide is known as the trend setter and forerunner and anyone wanna guess who wins there? in skating. Is there planned something new in the future and can you give us a little hint?

MK Well there is always some Giant around the corner. The main thing is it needs to work and make skating better or easier or faster or cooler. We want skating to come back and be trendy again, so looking always for the next thing. We think we have some ideas which will work and tested them already out, so for 2018 there might be some new cool stuff coming, innovation in details which make a difference.

„WELCOME TO THE TERRADOME“

SA There is always something new in the ideas book. Actually it’s how PS survives, and ultimately thrives, is that we are not scared of pushing things to the limits, and often past them. We can’t say too much about new plans, but for sure we are never standing in one position for long.

TEAM INTERVIEW //

POWERSLIDE RACING

PETER MICHAEL What is your typical pre-race/training race meal when you guys compete in the „Death Lap“? MK I would say 4 out of 5 days I have noodles with Tomato sauce...so this is it for me. I normally try to eat a lot and fast...like 500g or so, so I get a bit more heavy and get closer to scotts weight. Normally Scott takes food on the death lap as he gets hungry half way and is under sugared. I sometimes take a bar too to push Scott up the hills. Just recently as I lost too many sprints in the end I just brought him down, game over, race won. Like we say every victory counts, no matter how you win. SA I do like how you’ve called it ‘pre-race’ because as I said, every day is race day. Honestly, it’s just whatever is going for lunch. Nothing too special.

„WHEN YOU LOSE YOU NEED TO COMEBACK“ SANDRINE TAS How did you experience the transition from being a top sportsman to being behind the scenes involved with the biggest team in the peloton? MK Always loved racing, always loved the skaters. So when making the race project our first thought was a team and how we could support skaters around the world. When you get old and fat and cannot skate anymore it is great to see the team win. Actually I think I`m more nervous and excited to see the team race than when I do. Otherwise, skating, racing is the same as business...when you lose you need to comeback and just work harder and stronger, same you do in training. You know your competitors, you know their strength and weaknesses and try to ply also your tactic. It is all the same, behind the desk or on the race track.

SA For me it was kind of seamless. I was already managing the team in my last years of racing too. I think it helps that I was a racer and understand what a racer wants to think about, and what they don‘t want to have to worry about thinking about it. I‘m proud that the PS team is basically a true professional team. Ok, people aren‘t ever going to get rich from it, but at the same time the focus is all about performance, by creating an atmosphere and balance inside the team that is focused on that.

POWERSLIDE RACING

// TEAM INTERVIEW

KATHI RUMPUS How many sponsoring requests do you get per week? What does someone need to do to become sponsored? MK Well me not so much, I run the aggressive team and before we had many requests. I answer them all. But now aggressive is quite down, so the budget is down, less team members and the aggressive skaters are more and more merging into FSK and urban to be able to make some money. But in aggressive same as in racing to be on the team you need to be one of the best, be super nice person, easy to handle and have great skills in skating. MANON KAMMINGA How important is the image of your team both on and off the track? What do you guys like and dislike about the current team?

SA Naturally we get a lot of requests, not only from skaters asking to be sponsored, but from clubs/teams and events too. How many we get really depends on the time of the year, and a really common mistake is when people wait until the end of the season to start asking about next year, because by then we‘ve already fixed our budgets, and most things are finalized. To become sponsored now, there are a lot more variables other than just how fast you can skate. Things like how good the skater can communicate, how active are they on social network, and also what country they are based in. I guess people see with our main racing team, we really like to build long term relationships between our skaters and the brands and that is one common mistake I see with a lot of skaters now, they often jump around sponsors or teams, but in the long run they end up with a lot less.

„IMAGE IS EVERYTHING“ MK Good question. Sure we love a team with great spirit, working for and with each other. I think this is the PS team, even we have heroes, they are still down to work for others and give back. So we have awesome team work. Image wise I could not complain either, even we have some bad ass guys on the track they are super nice off the track. If you do sport and did races you also understand when sometimes there is a freak out with shooting, yelling and maybe showing the middle finger. To be honest, under stress, adrenalin who never did this or made a mistake. For me this is part of the sport, living your dream and passion and every person shows it differently. For me the team we have right now it is the best ever. But I mean not only for Powerslide but really the best team ever put together and working as a team.

SA Image is everything, both how our team races, and also how they are before and after races. People looking from the outside need to understand that they are often seeing our skaters at big events with a lot of tension and emotions, so sometimes they might not like things they see, but I don‘t think I need to apologize for that. At the end of the day this is sport, it‘s full of emotions, sometimes good, and sometimes not so good. Secondly one thing that is always special about the PS teams is in ‚social‘ situations. Again something that is pretty cool is our guys and girls at parties or events totally. It‘s often the time when they can relax and release some of that built up tension. These bonds are often what helps them at difficult moments on the track. Ride or die. Honestly, the only thing I dislike about our current team is that they are useless at answering emails....

POWERSLIDE RACING

// TEAM INTERVIEW

HAMILTON PATIÑO DORADO What kind of things did you used to do to prepare for a race? MK Not really into a lot of special things. No special sock, no special suit. I guess main thing is still after all the years that some hours before the race I need to pee a lot. Back when racing as a junior I knew it was go time when putting the skates on. After my father died and I had a longer injury and I was out racing like for two years racing was not the same for me anymore. I did a race to skate, not to win or really compete, lost the attitude...like in rocky movies you would call it lost the eye of the tiger. As I was studying sports and economics together with a friend I took part in a sport psychological study about my racing. So before every race I would set up fixed goals, how many attacks I would do, when and how to launch the sprint etc.. I put all those infos as codes on my hand so I could read and follow it. Really helped me to get into racing and battle mode again. So this special preparation really helped me to get focused again.

SA I guess for me the main thing was to try and develop a routine before events. So I always tried to do the same thing and it didn’t matter if it was a small local race or a final at the worlds. This was because I wanted to make sure that all races felt normal and this is something I try and get the skaters that I coach to also do.

FELIX RIJHNEN Would you rather have vaginas for ears or have penises for fingers?

„NO COMMENT“

MK Felix stop smoking shit, I told you it is not good for your mental health. But to be honest none of this makes sense, why should I choose. For me it would only make sense to have both, ears as vaginas and fingers as penises, than when you try to clean your ears with your fingers, you know what will happen and this would make most sense instead of just one. So I go for both and not choose. SA No comment.

TEAM INTERVIEW //

POWERSLIDE RACING

EDWIN ESTRADA What was the best technological breakthrough you made as a company? MK Bart has a similar question so I try to answer in a bit different way. Overall as said I would say the 125mm Triskates TRINITY system. But on the way to it we had to overcome lots of steps. Getting 125mm legal was not easy, first no, than yes, than marathon only, than also for track and everything. So lots of ups and downs besides the real development more in a political side, to convince the people that three wheels is not only better and faster but it will help the sport for a new comeback, and help inline skating to be considered cooler again in the public with a different image. But honestly even there are breakthroughs it is crazy how little we know about skating, we know wheels should be round, but still there is so much to test, so much to improve that it feels we are at the beginning and that the market has been dormant for longer time. Three wheels with TRINITY we think is opening another step for development and is a great platform for future innovation and ideas.

SA Similar for me. I was actually against 3 wheels in the beginning because I thought for sure you needed four wheels on the ground, but basically from the first 100m of skating on them I knew instantly this would change the sport. It’s also clear for me that 125mm is the biggest leap forward we have made, when you see the performances of our team, not only the crazy shit Bart does in Berlin, but what I’ve seen behind the scenes in training on a track with them. As Matthias’ said it was a big up and down right, and honestly there was lots of haters out there, but we really feel that inline skating is coming back, and it’s lead by Triskates. You only need to check out the new collections of our competitors to see what is going to be the future of inline skating.

„THREE WHEELS WITH TRINITY IS ANOTHER STEP IN DEVELOPMENT“

// TEAM INTERVIEW

EWEN FERNANDEZ After some massive failures will you guys ever attempt to the duo at 24 hours of Le Mans again? MK I’ll for sure attempt it again. But honestly I’m looking for a new partner. Ewen, are you available. Maybe you do like 22 hours. I can handle the first 1 hour and the last 1 hour. I could also do it with Scott again, but probably need to send him away to an island without beer or bad food for like six month so he can lose some weight.

SA Piss off fatty. I hate losing or failing. So probably we will be back at some point.

„PROBABLY WE WILL BE BACK“

TEAM INTERVIEW //

BART SWINGS What‘s your proudest moment, related to Powerslide, as the owner of the brand? Creating the 110mm, 125mm, Triskates or having an awesome team, seeing them win, or a special race you‘ll always remember, or something else? :-D

POWERSLIDE RACING

But we all knew we were on to something big. For me or us 125mm is not just a bigger size, not just the change from 4 to 3 wheels but for us it is part of the comeback of Inline skating. Making skating more exciting again, make is easier and nice for the normal user this is our main goal, so Inline skating can go again into a longer growing phase. I really think we are going for this and other brands joining in on 125mm and Triskates just makes this better. We are sure the next inline comeback is just around the corner and we will see a better marekt in the near future, lead by Triskates, big wheels, our race team and us, the brand with the 3 wheels. So in short, yes 125 & Triskates & team winning on it around the world is the major thing for me and I`m super proud of this team effort. Not easy to change the world, but once you did it it feels good. On top now we can throw the TRINITY mounting system in for Triskates which makes all better, so putting it as a math formula it is easy...

MK 110mm was a good step, but it was nothing amazing, in the end it was just a bigger wheel size which is not rocket science. The step to 125mm was a big one, as it was also the step to Triskates so a radical change. We know 3 wheels skate nice from some test, it was easier for me as an old man so I was 100% convinced it will work. To change the industry and the world to 3 wheels is not an easy task. So we know we had to work together in different segments and the team was a major part. Without the best team with the best skaters in the world we would not be able to prove this. I remember well, when you, Bart lapped the field in Vegas on the outdoor race and lot of 125MM + TRISKATE + TEAM + TRINITY= people and brands were saying yes it is just Bart...even after this people quote 125mm and Triskates will not work.

COMEBACK OF INLINE SKATING

Same question for you Scotty, as our Team manager and all the other things you do for Powerslide? (Well, if you do something else over there besides thinking you‘re so much better than Matthias) SA Honestly, not really easy to say one moment in particular, but actually I’m most proud about the team as a team in itself. Watching how the guys and girls interact with each other. Racing is super stressful and for sure there is a lot of tension so for the team to still be able to work together and function under those high pressure situations, it’s impressive.

// THE ICE STORY

ICE ICE BABY KALON DOBBIN, PETER MICHAEL & LIVIO WENGER talk about their experiences, goals and hard training. Kalon Dobbin was a former team skater for Powerslide for many seasons, and since his retirement has changed his focus to coaching, both on inlines and ice. We caught up with him, and his two skaters Peter Michael and Livio Wenger on the transition to ice and why inline skating enhances their ice skating performances.

THE ICE STORY //

KALON As an ex-inline skater, and an inline coach, do you think this gives you an advantage for inline skaters who are looking to transition to ice as opposed to more traditional ice coaches? To be honest I think that is the reason why my skaters are doing very well on the ice and inline skates. It is not only that I was an inline skater and an inline coach now but I also spent time on the ice as an athlete, I believe this combination is what has given me the biggest advantage in allowing an inline skater to produce their desired results on the ice and inline skates. What is the biggest challenge for an inline skater trying to make it on ice? In my opinion there are two major challenges for an inline skater trying to transition to ice. The ďŹ rst having a coach that understands an inline skater and a coach that can explain and show you how to do something not just tell you to do something. The second is being able to leave your ego at the door and have the mental strength, to be able to handle going to one of the world‘s top inline skaters to being one of the slowest ice skaters on the planet. No one was the a world champion inline skater overnight! What is the biggest advantage an inline skater brings to ice skating? I wouldn‘t say that an inline skater brings and advantage to ice skating, I believe that once you are a top athlete in any sport you have the capacity to do well in most sports. Even though the two sports are very different, the biggest advantage for an inline skater over other athletes is that the two sports are very similar in the way of body movements. So if you are a top inline skater you can be a top ice skater. In terms of ice skating equipment, do ex-inliners need something different as opposed to skaters who grew up on ice? If anyone knows anything about me, they know that equipment is something that I have studied my entire career and have continued to study as a coach. My answer to anyone that asks will always be the same, everyone is different and you need to test what is best for you.

POWERSLIDE RACING

// THE ICE STORY

PETE You are famous for winning elimination racing on inline skates, where pack skating and positioning is super important, does it also give you some advantages for ice skating which is basically time trialing to a schedule? I have found that on the back straight if I am behind the other skater I tend to chase that person and follow the draft. Also into the last laps when I have been behind my elimination style of hunting down and passing in the last moment kicks in. So I find it has some advantages. When do you think the ice skating world met „Messy Mike“? They definitely meet him this year at worlds where I am finally starting to feel at home on the ice. You are coached by Kalon Dobbin both on inlines and ice, how important is it for you to have one central coach that can handle both sports? I really enjoy having the advantage of having one coach who can over see all of my training in both sports. It means I can just focus on the training and don‘t have to worry about two coaches arguing over the program. Kalon and myself are really starting to get into work now, He is taking me from a good skater to a great skater. I really appreciate everything Kalon is doing for/with me. Who has better parties, inliners or ice skaters? Inliners, We definitely know how to party!

THE ICE STORY //

POWERSLIDE RACING

LIVIO As the Swiss Kiwi, how does training with the NZ group help you? It is amazing to have such a high quality group to train with. I love the Kiwis because of their hard work attitude and their mentality. It is always fun with them when we are not on the inline or ice tracks but when we train or compete, the focus is 100% on our goals. They are all great people and always ready to help me if coach Kalon or the athletes. Also in the past I always learnt from the Kiwis. They are a big part of what I achieved and showed me the winning mentality. You’ve been with Powerslide all the way through juniors and into seniors, what has been your biggest influence in these years? Powerslide gave me so much through the years. I had the chance as a Junior to skate with the best Juniors at the time who have been world champion and after that I came into the world team, where I learnt so much over the years. The biggest influence I had for sure by Kalon Dobbin who is still my coach now and Scott Arlidge who is current team manager. I always have been able to train with them in my last Junior years and they guided me both into senior. They both had a lot of patience with me, Kalon as a coach and Scott gave me the time to develop as a skater in the world team, also when I had difficult times they never let me down and were always there. Also the guys I could skate with and learn from was unbelievable and I could not be thankful enough to the whole Powerslide family. But for sure the biggest influence on me were Kalon and Scott. Do you think its an advantage to have some guys around you that have been there and done that? So that you don’t make the same mistakes as them? Yes for sure. I learn every day from them. That they have done it before, is a huge advantage and gives me so much confidence. Specially in the moment to be able to train every day with Peter Michael who has won so

much on Inline and already achieved medals at worlds on Ice too is amazing. I am so thankful to have him by my side, not just as a training partner but also as a friend and mentor. What is the biggest challenge you face on ice? To be honest I think it is patience. I started on ice and thought I could go immediately fast. But no, it was never easy and every single step was hard work. I had to start from beginning two years ago, because the first years on ice were absolutely wasted because I did not focus on technique and still today I do certain things wrong in my movements because I learnt the wrong way in the start. When Kalon finally took my Ice-training over two years ago, we decided to do it right and the improvements I made since then were unreal and great. The hard thing is to look back sometimes and accept what I achieved and then set new realistic goals. Nothing comes easy because I started so late on the Ice, so the patience to accept where I am at at the time and go forward from there, was and is probably the biggest challenge. People who know me, know exactly how hard that is for me.

s ´ X I L E F Felix Rijhnen is one of the strongest long distance skaters in the world. A constant presence during the finals of the hardest races at european, world championships and the big marathon events. He’s personally coached by Powerslide’s Scott Arlidge, so we asked Scott to give us some details on Felix’s training, and also what it takes to fight against the world’s best skaters...

// FELIX´s TRAINING

...“Right now the long distance skating at the world level is some of the highest I’ve ever seen. Gone are the days where it was only a few guys fighting for the medals, now I would consider that there is about 10 or maybe even 15 guys able to end on the podium in the world championships. It’s no surprise that to reach this level it requires a lot of hard work, however the hard work is actually one of the easier aspects to be competitive. When writing Felix’s training plans, often the hardest thing to do his to slow him down. He’s a very motivated guy, and while this a luxury for most coaches to have, sometimes it can also have a negative affect on the athlete’s performance. Obviously, the training varies week to week and goes through different cycles depending on many aspects, such as the time of the year, upcoming events, how he’s feeling, and how long to go until the major goal for that season. So here is a snap shot of Felix’s training week during the season, without a race on the weekend, and about five weeks before a major championships."

// FRAME POSITIONS

FRAME POSITIONS FELIX

32

I like to change the position of my left frame between track and marathons. When I race on track it’s slightly more to the left (into the corner) and when I’m racing road and marathons a bit more to the right.

EWEN I am actually quite obsessed with frame position. The skating feeling is very important for me, and I am always looking for the maximum push in the corners. It is for this reason that in the corners I always keep my inside frame a little bit more to the inside. However, when it‘s time for marathons I make sure that the right and left frame are equal.

FRAME POSITIONS //

POWERSLIDE RACING

FELIX, PETER and EWEN about their SPECIAL PREFERENCES

PETER

I always keep my right frame in the same position. The one thing I’m probably a little special about is that I always bang my frame as much to the back as possible. I’ve copied this from Peter and feel it helps to battle shin problems.

When I set up my frame position I think a lot about the corners, I have my left foot a little more to the outside to help in the corner and give me the speed and kick out of the corner.  The right foot is a little similar but not as much other wise I don‘t feel as comfortable in the straight.

MATTER RACING MATTER racing wheels have deďŹ ned a generation of racing performance, whether it has been ground breaking products such as G13, or development which changed the sport we know today such as the introduction of 110mm and 125mm wheels. However, MATTER is always at the forefront of the inline skating industry, and we always have our foot ďŹ rmly on the gas pedal, introducing MATTER: BEAT YOUR BEST. It is an exciting time in our 15 year history, a complete over haul of the MATTER racing wheels collection, led by a fresh new look. Designed in conjunction with designers in Huntington Beach (USA), Barcelona (ESP) and at the Powerslide HQ in Bavaria (GER). A new logo, a new look - and of course the whole project was driven by new wheels.

PROPEL

= to propel sth. forward

> to move or project an object in a desired direction

MATTER has developed another revolutionary product: the PROPEL track racing wheel, using patented OBL technology. The propel wheel is designed to allow you, the racer, to explode, cut, and dominate like never before. OBL technology features an off-set core that is designed to work on the corners, and then drive down the straight lines. Two independent sides, force side, and flex side react in two independent ways, to maximize your track racing experience. The drive side of the core acts as a platform to ensure stable skating at high speeds through tight corners. Working in tandem is the flex side that allows more flex for an easier and more comfortable experiences.

ONE 20 FIVE MATTER racing, together with Powerslide, pioneered 125mm wheels in the racing and skating industry in general. Now as we move into a new era of racing, we have continued to enhance the best high performance 125mm wheel available today. CHR technology was created from a desire to make our 125mm wheels more comfortable and of course faster than ever. Increasing the flex pattern in the core of the wheel means we’ve created a wheel that offers advances in these important skating characteristics without any sacrifice in rolling performance.

MATTER

MATTER WHEELS EXPLAINED Wheel technology has evolved tremendously in the last decade. Wheels have become bigger, speeds have become faster and there are more features to choose from than ever before. Thankfully MATTER wheels, led by world famous urethane wheel maker Neal Piper, has countless hours of experience and expertise to help guide you through these wheels, and ultimately help you choose the best wheel for your next skate, whether it’s a friendly race against your training buddies or taking on the world at the world championships. Here are main details in wheel engineering explained:

1. WHEEL HUB The hub of the wheel is critical to it’s performance. Especially as wheel size increase. The stiffer the hub the more strong and stable it is. While the more flexible the hub, the more comfortable and grippy the wheel becomes. As a general rule, stiffer hubs contribute to a faster rolling wheel.

MATTER’s original hub. Seen in all wheel sizes including 125mm. The hollow core is made from two separate pieces which are sonic welded together. Perfect for use in fast marathons or road racing, where top speed is critical.

A more flexible option to the standard hollow c core for 125mm. Similar to the hollow core, but with additional holes. Wheels with this hub are the perfect allround compromise between stiffness and flex.

An ALU core is for skaters that want the ultimate stiffness. It will be very fast rolling in a straight line and on a perfectly smooth road. However, the skater will need to compromise on the ability to steer the wheels and the added weight. It is also only recommended for larger skaters.

A track specific hub, with optimized flex in one direction to mirror to the one direction of track racing.

A flexible single piece hub. MATTER‘s IMAGE wheels are the perfect long distance training wheel, or for rookie marathon racers looking for an instant performance boost.

2. INSERT The insert of a wheel has become a regular feature of high end racing wheels, for track, road, marathons, and even indoor. As the name suggests it’s often a softer layer of urethane that is inserted under the harder, main body of urethane. The main job of the insert is to increase grip without scarifying any rolling performance. This is especially important for high end track and road racing. Insert technology in wheels has contributed to the rising cost of wheel because it’s a very labour intensive manufacturing process. The insert has a massive impact on wheel performance. The golden rule, is that wheels which feature an insert will be faster, and have more grip than wheels without an insert.

The contact point to the skating surface, whether it’s asphalt, concrete, vesmaco, or even wood, each urethane goes under many hours of testing and development. MATTER urethanes are all made in USA. Not only are there various types of urethanes, there are also several hardness’ which affect skating characteristics. With MATTER wheels, we use more than a simple ‘Shore Hardness’. We use the footprint system to distinguish between wheels.

MATTER

4. FOOTPRINT MATTER has always distinguished the difference in it‘s wheels via the footprint system. Always seen as F1, F2 and so on. As the name suggests, it refers to the contact point of the wheel to the skating surface. The lower the number, the less the footprint on the skating surface. As a rough rule, harder wheels have less footprint, than softer wheels. The insert size and hardness also contributes to the footprint. A wider/softer footprint will mean a bigger footprint on the skating surface, and then a thinner/harder insert will mean less footprint on the skating surface.

5. WHEEL SIZE

bigger

MATTER has always been at the forefront of wheel size. In particular moving from 100mm to 110mm and now from 110mm to 125mm. Both of these instances has resulted in increased speeds, and then with the introduction of Triskates the revival of inline skating. Choosing the correct wheel size for yourself is a very personal experience, and as the world moves from four wheels to three wheels, the choice can seem even more complicated. However, MATTER wheels considers Triskates as the future of inline skating, so here is some general rules relating to wheel size.
