owerslide was originally created as a distribution company by Matthias Knoll and his business partner, Stefan Goehl. Matthias was a world class speed skater himself, and has always had huge passion and motivation for the sport. Over the years, Powerslide has developed from a distribution company into a brand in its own right, manufacturing and selling skates and skating accessories under its own brand name.
Powerslide Race grew rapidly at the start of the millennium and quickly became the leading brand in the world of speed skating. The reason was simple, while other brands and companies were happy continuing with the status quo, Powerslide, and in particular Matthias was driven by innovation and passion to be the best, just like the competitive racer he is. 125MM & TRINITY

Since Powerslide started supporting racing teams, we have always wanted to be the best, because why else would you bother to do it? We love winning almost as much as we love to skate.

Companies used to simply take an adults skate and make it smaller, now we have redesigned the kids skate to ensure that the skate is tailor made to what a kid needs to develop and grow in the sport.

POWERSLIDE RACE // TECHNOLOGY
As the name suggests, this refers to three wheel skates, or as we know them at Powerslide, Triskates. Not only is this a revolution for all segments of skating, but it is also the case for race. As we’ve seen in the recent marathon events, the swtich to 3x125mm has proved to be faster, but why? - IT’S LIGHTER - one less wheel - MORE CONTROL - due to having a wheel under the middle of the foot, it has allowed the skate to have a pivot point - MORE ROLL - bigger wheels
Speed skaters have precious feet! Spending countless hours chasing the dream, their feet take a hammering. The two areas which take the brunt of this impact are the navicular bone on THE INSIDE OF THE FOOT and the OUTSIDE REAR PART OF THE HEEL. With our pain free shell we have removed the sections of carbon causing this pain and because our shell is compression moulded we do not sacrifice any stiffness. This manufacturing technology enables us to cut out the shell as well as adding nicely shaped reinforcements to increase the stiffness of the shell. We can create shapes with sharp contours in our carbonfibre shells which you usually only know from injected composite shells. This is giving our shells a very special and unique look. Powerslide is the only brand in inline skating offering compression molded shells.
TRINITY - A totally redesigned mounting system. As skaters are getting faster and faster it is only logical that the mounting system needed to be redesigned because power that the world’s top racers produce shouldn’t be wasted. Also with wheel sizes increasing, pressure and torque increases too, TRINITY balances these forces and gives the skater MORE STABILITY. While TRINITY offers UNMATCHED POWER TRANSFER it also provides other benefits like EASIER CONTROL AND EDGES, but one of the greatest advantages is the VIBRATION CONTROL, this is a huge advantage for skaters who skate longer distances on less than perfect road surfaces.

WHY THE WORLD NEEDS IT?
Control and support play a major role in skating, especially if the wheels get bigger. It means that the center of gravity changes and the force, torque and pressure is also greatly increased the bigger the wheels are. We here at Powerslide, as the pioneers of big wheels, are aware of these facts and looked for solutions to make skates not only faster, but also more secure, more stable and agile and easier to control. WHAT DID WE WANT?
> a mounting that is as low as possible for ALL wheel sizes and setups. > to make the connection between the boot and frame more stable. > to add more control and better balance. WHAT WE DID:
So we looked at different sports, fixations in different areas and at other disciplines of skating. Inline hockey frames use front wings forming a channel since ages for one reason: TO LOWER THE CENTER OF GRAVITY.
3-point mounting = POWER TRIANGLE
lower center of gravity Hockey is the fastest game in the world, and the lower skate is, the easier it is to maneuver, to handle and to control. This was our goal and mission for the new Trinity frame concept. The construction of hockey skates inspired us to CREATE A THREE POINT MOUNTING FRAME,
where we placed the two front mounting points outside of the frame using wings like in hockey frames FORMING A DEEP GROOVED CHANNEL FOR THE WHEELS: It was natural for us to INTEGRATE THE X-SLOT MOUNTING INTO NTO OUR TRINITY 3-POINT MOUNTING
frames as well. It gives the skater the opportunity to shift their frames to the front and back and even sidewards, which enables them to customize the frame position under their boots to their skating skills and needs to optimize their performence.

OUR KIDS ARE THE FUTURE OF OUR SPORT.
Currently there is no kids skate designed specitically for kids. They are all basically adultsskates, just made smaller into kids sizes. But kids don’t have the same balance, strength, control or coordination as adults.

The most common problem for kids is pronation of the ankles, or falling inside. This problem is the root of other major technical problems and needs to be eliminated. With this kids collection we have added several new models which feature new designs, that focus on allowing younger skaters to develop their technique in the correct way so that in the future years they can achieve greatness, too. The focus has been on a greater support in the ankle area, with higher, more supportive boots. BUT CAN STILL GO FAST & WIN!
art Swings, Peter Michael and Sandrine Tas all started as kids who had dreams and wanted to go fast. After years of hard work with countless ups and downs along the way, they were able to reach the pinnacle of the sport. Powerslide noticed that there was a huge problem in the market and not all kids were perfect technically and this led to future problems in skating and maybe, ultimately led to kids leaving the sport. The problem: THE SKATES!

We did one final sprint fast and I tripped and flipped breaking my collarbone and smashing my helmet and glasses BIGGEST OPPONENT: Bart Swings HARDEST CHALLENGE IN YOUR CAREER: Trying to win the 15km elimination 2012 for the 2nd time in a row PROUDEST SPORTING MOMENT: winning the 15km Elimination in 2011 after my team mate Scott Arlidge led the whole race to put me in perfect position to win FAVORITE TRAINING SESSION: does the rest day count? I enjoy all the training in different ways but maybe the long distance sessions AMOUNT OF REPETITIONS: As long as you can go MOST HATED TRAINING SESSION: sprint training, where I have to work on leg speed and fast technique. FIRST IT WAS 110MM, WHERE MATTER AND POWERSLIDE DECIDED THAT IT WAS TIME FOR A CHANGE, TIME TO PUSH OUR SPORT FORWARD AGAIN, TIME TO GO FASTER.
»LEGALIZE CAMPAIGN 2007« HOWEVER, AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF THE STATUS QUO, THE TEAM DECIDED IT WAS TIME AGAIN TO SEE WHAT WAS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE, AND
125MM WAS BORN. THIS WAS OUR TEAM’S BIGGEST CHALLENGE, BECAUSE NOT ONLY DID WE INCREASE THE WHEEL SIZE, WE CHANGED THE SKATE TOTALLY, NOW IT WAS A THREE WHEEL SKATE, WHICH IN ITS OWN RIGHT IS A REVOLUTION. OBVIOUSLY, WHEN THERE IS SOMETHING AS NEW AS THIS, THERE WAS QUITE SOME RESISTANCE FROM THE MARKET, BUT ONCE MANY PEOPLE TESTED THE NEW 3X125MM SKATES, THERE WAS NO DOUBT THAT IT WAS NOT ONLY FASTER, BUT ALSO OFFERED A TOTALLY NEW SKATING EXPERIENCE. CLEARLY SEEN BY THE DOMINATION IN MARATHONS, THE 3X125MM IS ALSO PROVING TO BE FASTER ON THE TRADITIONAL 200M TRACK RACING. AND IT DOESN’T STOP THERE, EVEN IN THE TIGHT 100M INDOOR RACING SCENE IN USA, THE 3X125MM IS PROVING TO BE A REVOLUTION.

“AFTER MORE THAN 10 YEARS GROWING UP WITH THIS COMPANY I GUESS IT’S FAIR TO SAY MY RELATIONSHIP WITH POWERSLIDE IS MORE THAN A SIMPLE SPONSORSHIP - #POWERSLIDEFAMILY” FELIX
Felix Rijhnen has been Germany’s leading senior man for several years now. Every German grows up with the dream about being part of the Powerslide team. Of Felix’s first contact with Powerslide he said it went like this: “It’s always been a dream for me to be part of the Powerslide World Team so I was beyond happy when I received my first ever sponsored Powerslide skin suit in 2005. Even a year later when I raced my first World-Championships in Anyang (SouthKorea) Powerslide owner Matthias Knoll didn’t know my name but acknowledged my performance with the words: “Oh wow look at this! The German guy is winning the sprint!”, when I finished 4th in the points race on the road and was world record holder for a good 45min until Senior men raced and Joey Mantia smashed my time again.” During the years, Felix hasn’t only been part of our racing team, he’s also truly become part of the Powerslide family. In Germany in your last year of high school you need to make a small working internship at a company, naturally Felix asked Powerslide:
“When I had to do a school internship at 16 years of age nothing was more interesting to me than getting to Bayreuth and find out how the Powerslide company works. My mum drove a good 300k to bring me there and I remember being overwhelmed by the huge warehouse with more than 3.000 different products - everything a skater can dream of! It’s been a great experience and a milestone in my relationship with Powerslide.” As Felix’s results improved he got the call up to race in our world team, full of international stars: “After some years with the German Powersldie team I got the call up in 2008 as the first ever German skater to be part of the World Team and race side to side with some of my youth heros like Kalon Dobbin, Scott Arlidge and Yann Guyader. The management and the team put huge trust into me and gave me the chance to learn from the best and develop into a world-class athlete myself.”
POWERSLIDE RACE
However, one of the important reasons why Felix is part of our team isn’t because of his skating results. It is because of the person he is outside the races. He has developed a strong connection to skaters of all shapes and sizes outside of the traditional racing scene.
FELIX IS A CONSTANT PRESENCE AT EVENTS WHERE WE HAVE A BOOTH, BECAUSE PEOPLE DON’T JUST WANT TO SEE WHAT WE OFFER FOR SKATES, IT’S ALSO FOR THEM TO INTERACT WITH OUR RACING TEAM.
Perhaps, the high point of Felix’s skating career came in 2014 when he won the marathon at the European Championships. However as fate would have it, it was a much more special day for Powerslide because it was also the same day the Powerslide’s owner Matthias Knoll stood on the podium too for the masters marathon: “ That was a hard one for me, the performance of Felix put a lot of pressure on me too. But as some would say, pressure creates diamonds...not every time, but sometimes silver comes out. But Felix is someone who I have been personally watching since 2006...that is where I first took notice of him. During the years I can say we became friends. Going to events together, went on training camps together and all I can say is that Felix is not just an awesome guy on the track and road but also off. A true friend, a true teammate, and never he lets you down. A true champion. He is there when works needs to be done, he helps the brand to grow and shine, which is exactly what you need in a sponsored skater. It’s not always about how fast you can skate. He works booths and trade shows to became a true icon of Powerslide. So yes he became part of the family that is for sure and we are thankful to have guys like him on the team.”
