INTERVIEW WITH:

ARSHI AYUB ZAVERI (AAZ) CEO; TrustWithTrade Group & Senior Advisor to the Royal Family, United Arab Emirates

PGMAG: Thank you Powerhouse Arshi for granting us this interview. AAZ: It is my pleasure to engage with your good self and PGMAG. PGMAG: Who is Arshi, and what is she about in the world? AAZ: Quite a question. Let me simplify the same. Born into a family of empowered mindsets, been quite the one who learnt very early that despite all the privileges bestowed, ultimately, have to walk my own walk. As a woman who started her first business at the age of 17, there were few instrumental things that life and experiences taught me. I learned at a very early age that you can tell people what to do until you are blue in the face, but you have to set the tone with your actions. People will not only respect that, they will rise to it. Continued investing into intellectual well - being of own and advancement of everyone around me. Strongly advocate,

PGMAG: As a person in a very important position, what are your top three tips of leading effectively? AAZ: Learn from the example set by the UAE leaders. A country based on strong principles of cooperation, tolerance and peace. First and fore most to lead, it is imperative that one should be responsible and human. Everyone around you is then inspired to emulate and the energy finally transpires into a win – win aftermath. Micro managing might work for some, however provisioning room to breathe, innovate and express, is equally essential. Secondly the only way to succeed, is by enduring short failures. Nobody likes failures, irrespective of their economic position. However as a leader, enduring and coping with failure is crucial. Finally, share success and give back. That is real progress as well. Remember to go to bed with a clean conscience.

PGMAG: What are the two books that changed your life?

Hire smart, rather than experienced sales and marketing strength. To expand and create intergenerational wealth, you need to collaborate, undertake challenges, execute a brilliant idea & do things differently.

AAZ: My Story: 50 Memories from 50 Years of Service by H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai. A man who is extremely kind and a true visionary by all means. He articulated early life, family, education, mentions of his late father and grandfather who ruled Dubai for 46 years. Also who laid the 10 tenets of leadership for nations to learn from. Serve people, Do not worship the position, Set Your Plan, Monitor Yourself, Build Your Team, Innovate or Leave, Communicate and be optimistic, Compete, Create future leaders, Go forth and live a meaningful life.

PGMAG: What is your message for the youth of the world? AAZ: ‘Learn skills that will make you globally competitive. Youth are the real wealth and the future of national security. Be better and we are optimistic to create a knowledge based economy in the emirates”, – H.H Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. My message is strongly aligned with the UAE leaders, for the youth to finish a college education and find a good mentor who teaches them the ropes to entrepreneurship, skill building, self - sustenance and to optimize opportunities. Find your strength & keep exploring your passions. Be confident and always exude conviction in whatever you put your mind into.

Becoming by Michelle Obama. Reinstated and reminded me to use my voice to lift up the voiceless and to never disappear on people in need. To be largely optimistic without being naïve; undaunted by conflict; and intrigued by how complicated the world is. Becoming was indeed a fulfilling read. AAZ: I remind myself each day that to whom much is given, much is expected. It is periodically overwhelming to aim at the perfect work / life balance. However, I practice parallelism, which simply implies that multitasking not only exists, but is actually good. Conceptually enriching and enables more work to be done faster. Sometimes when you concentrate on more than one component at a time there simply isn’t enough cognitive resource to go round, hence the dealing has to be multifold. Prioritize and segregate, which will help you assess where your presence is needed more. Also very important, and often overlooked between work and family is; time to one own self. Very important and should never be ignored. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self? AAZ: To have leveraged challenges, along with the opportunities that came my way. One of the fallacies is that, when you get successful, it gets easier. It does not. Be ready to fight for the rest of your life, if you chose to live it your way. There will be people to deride you every step of the way. They try to cow you down,

Instead develop a steel frame around you. What you do consume and what you don’t, entirely at your own discretion. PGMAG: What makes you laugh? AAZ: Time with family is always full of laughter and these little moments remind you of reasons to be grateful. PGMAG: It has been a pleasure interviewing you - we are grateful. INTERVIEW WITH:

DR. RICHARD DIPILLA (RD) Founder of Global Goodwill Ambassadors PGMAG: It's an honor and a great privilege to have you on this interview. RD: Thank you. I always love the opportunity to talk about all the great people in our Global Goodwill Ambassadors family. PGMAG; What an incredible inspirational being you are! Our research shows us a man on a mission to support so many others to become leaders themselves. Your passion in the service to humanity through your global organization (Global Goodwill Ambassadors known as GGA) is remarkable. So, who is Dr. Richard DiPilla?

RD: I’m not a person who considers himself special or exceptional.Like many people I’ve traveled through a great part of my life with a feeling or hope that I would find a meaningful place in my life. When I started documenting and recognizing the great people I’d met along my life journey, I developed a passion to share these great people’s stories with others around the world. PGMAG: How would you describe your leadership style? RD: I know that creating a strong foundation is essential. Good people are drawn to something JULY 2020

that has a pulse. A passion behind it. Leading people who believe in that passion is much better than handing people a mission statement that reads like plagiarized platitudes . The most valuable part of any organization is its people. I’ve been shocked recently that during the covid pandemic CEOs keep private jets and layoff people. Really? I just believe differently then they do. PGMAG: What are your five keys to leading successfully? RD: Believe in and love your organization. Surround yourself with people who love your organization. Respect everyone around you without bias. Accept all opinions, even those you may not agree with. The overall consensus of a large collective will most often be closer to the correct path than that of any singular decision. PGMAG: What would you say to a business owner who is struggling to build a global presence? RD: Well everyone already has a global presence. Its called the world wide web. Their problem isn’t the presence its how to break through the clutter and noise. There is no one voice that can do this because

14 JULY 2020

we don’t have a universal language that speaks to the way different cultures feel and absorb content. The best way to accomplish this is to gain understanding through people on the ground throughout the world and to focus on areas that have highest probability the acceptance. I see too many people trying to sell products and services around the world without considering that they are readily available to the people they are reaching out to. Because they don’t do their homework about the needs in each area, they end up trying to sell ‘olive oil to people in Italy’. Its just not going to happen.

PGMAG: With the current global challenges due to the pandemic (COVID-19), and with so many businesses affected by the virus, what are some of the steps needed to rebuild the world economy? RD: We have all learned more about safety and need to take those lessons and apply them to our businesses or organizations. The world economy will rebuild. It is resilient because people are resilient and the people are the economy not the governments or the businesses. Each owner has to think about how will my customers feel safe about returning to do business with me. This means you need to

PGMAG: If you were invited to address the world leaders, what would be your key point in your presentation? RD: I’d tell them to stop and take a moment to think about what we are doing. What is driving hate in the world? I’d ask if there is any great victory they envision in their mind. What if they got everything they wanted with a magic wand right this second. Would it solve all their problems? The answer is no. Wouldn’t they be in a better situation pursuing compromises that are the only inevitable solution to a better civilization? I’d ask for a show of hands of anyone who disagrees with that. Id assure them they will not be embarrassed but I want to hear their current defense for not pursuing a path of immediate peace. Then I’d ask them each to state their suggested solutions. When we actually think about all the suffering in the world much of it based on an unwillingness to compromise

honestly. Not posturing or rhetoric but true compromise. I know that we have been in existence as a species for but a speck of time and our time hear is even a smaller speck. If we fast forward 1000 years and imagine world leaders in a peaceful civilized world sitting together and looking back at this period, what might they say about each individual world leader at this time? PGMAG: Who would be your ideal traveling companion? RD: Alive or dead? Lol. I’m sure there are very wise people in the world I could research to travel with. Someone who can see what I may not see. Someone who can point out natures beauty as well as be able to stop and help me communicate to people everywhere in their language. I’d want Jesus, or Buddha, or Mohammed , or DiVinci, Aristotle, Mother Theresa, Susan B. Anthony or Benjamin Franklin. As for living I'd probably go with the Dalai Lama. I like his perspective. PGMAG: What are the three books which changed your life? RD: The Bible. The Catcher in the Rye. War and Peace.

PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self: RD: Always chose what you love. Never chose materialistic things that sacrifice any part of my personal moral compass. Slow down. Decisions each have consequences. Think them out for how they effect the long term future rather than tomorrow. PGMAG: We have come to the end of our interview. We are grateful for your contribution and wish you well as you continue to serve humanity. RD: Thank you for your questions. I hope I haven’t bored your readers. It’s been a pleasure spending time with you and your team. PGMAG: Please share your contact details (links and website) for our readers benefit. to humanity. Looking at your profile, all I can say is: Thank you for being a servant leader. Please share a brief of the work you do with us. DC: Again, thank you for your kind words. My work is diversified yet connected. I am a Registered Nurse, Managing Director of eWomenNetwork Long Island, and Founder/CEO of Celebrating Women LLC.

It is a unique experience, a privilege, to be with people in their time of need and suffering. Healthcare is both the art and the science of healing, and I am fortunate to serve throughout the world in this capacity. I also feel nervous, wondering if I can do what needs to be done. I guess that is doubt, and

I pray for strength and to serve well. I am always energized when I am volunteering, no matter the totality of needs to be met, physical nature of the work, the long hours and the demands set upon us I am able to do what needs to be done. There are many reasons for this, one of the reasons I can persevere is because I am serving side by side with others

PGMAG: As a member of the global response team, and we understand that your work involves serving those in disadvantaged zones which include; war torn countries, how do you feel each time you respond to a need? DC: I always feel deeply called to respond, to help my brothers and sisters, to be there, wherever that may be. I consider the skills and knowledge and experience I have acquired in my profession as a nurse to be the gifts given to me that are meant to be shared in order to help others.

in the same circumstance and we lift each other. PGMAG: It's obvious to us that your life is centered around "service to others”. Please share with us your view on the importance of "service" in leadership. DC: Service in leadership is substantially important. Without service in leadership, you are left with power, and power alone is not enough to lead well. Service engenders trust, confidence, influence, teamwork, love, empowerment, growth, strength, and creativity. PGMAG: What is your style of leadership? DC: Servant-leadership most definitively describes my leadership style. PGMAG: What are your three suggestions on business recovery amidst the global challenge (COVID-19)? DC: First, I do not believe we should go back to “normal”. Normal served some well, but not many. Let us continue to integrate remote and workfrom-home options into our work week when businesses reopen to better serve our employees and reduce the

20 JULY 2020

impact of emissions on the planet. Let us strengthen the public healthcare system, ensuring equal access and care in our communities. Let us reimagine and restructure the supply chain to ensure adequate resources where needed. Let us work together as a global community to innovate best practices in education, healthcare, etc. I could go on and on but suffice to say “normal” is not what we should aim for. Second, I believe we need to rethink the message in our marketing. Too many businesses continued to market during Covid19 as if nothing had changed in the world, and others used Covid19 as just another opportunity to sell and increase profit. Both approaches did not appeal to me. I would not want to work with a business that chose to ignore the impact of the pandemic or chose to use the impact of the pandemic as an opportunistic event from which to profit. The messages we use in our marketing need to be reflective and sensitive to the current events. Business is a relationship model and the messages in our marketing reflect how we treat each other in that relationship.

Service in leadership is substantially important. Without service in leadership, you are left with power, and power alone is not enough to lead well. My third suggestion is to plan and prepare our businesses for the next global challenge. Businesses of every size were negatively impacted as a result of COVID19. This pandemic was unprecedented, and the world reacted. Some say too little, too late, some say too much for too long. Let us not succumb to another unprecedented event. Let us learn together, let us innovate together, let us plan together, let us prepare together, let us respond together, let us flourish together. PGMAG: What are you most proud of as a service provider? DC: This is difficult for me to answer. On any given day I could be leading an eWomenNetwork business event, or writing and creating content for Celebrating Women, or serving on the Disaster Assistance Response Team, or working in the

PGMAG: What are the two books that changed your life? DC: Ah, an easy question! The first is Eat, Pray, Love and the other is Unstuffed. PGMAG: Who would be your ideal traveling companion? DC: Honestly, I am lucky enough to have traveled several times with my ideal traveling companion. She is my friend & soul-sister, Mae Caime. Mae is also a nurse and we go on some great adventures together. Crazy, fun, memorymaking adventures full of love and service. PGMAG: What is your message to the women of the world?

I believe we need to rethink the message in our marketing. Too many businesses continued to market during Covid19 as if nothing had changed in the world, and others used Covid19 as just another opportunity to sell and increase profit.

INTERVIEW WITH:

DANNY A. SHANNON (DS) PGMAG: Thank you Danny for this opportunity to interview you today. DS: Oh it’s my absolute honor, I feel like it is always a privilege when I get the chance to carry the message of recovery. This was a message that was so freely shared with me in the beginning of my journey to sobriety. I feel it is my duty as a human being to carry the message of love, hope and recovery to anyone who may be suffering.

22 JULY 2020

PGMAG: Our research shows us a man whose life journey has been of great challenge, yet inspiring. Please share a brief bio of yourself with our readers. DS: I am a recovering addict who has not had a drink or a drug since the 15th of September 2009. I enjoy raising awareness through my personal stories about addiction and empowering and educating others about the emotional and social impacts of addiction.

I love my life I love my work I smile way to much And I love to make people happy!

I love my life I love my work I smile way to much And I love to make people happy!

Most amazing of all, I am the founder of encapsulator, a secure web platform providing Digital Time Capsules. Allowing people to record their future hopes and dreams, documenting family histories to be passed on to future generations into a time-locked vault to be discovered at a later date.

DS: I have built myself a wonderful life today, in fact I am incredibly grateful to be a man in recovery from drug addiction. It truly is my past that has given me such a wonderful life today. I love everything about it and I do not regret a thing. I like to think that I would not do anything differently.

PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently?

PGMAG: We want to know more about your invention which is a 'revolution' in Australia at the moment. DS: Wow, thank you so much! Well, let me give you my pitch. My name is Danny and I am the very proud founder of a Digital Time Capsule company called encapsulator. We provide clarity, discovery and motivation for individuals and a legacy for our future generations. So, for every time you have ever thought or said to yourself, I wonder what I was like back then?

What was I thinking? How was I feeing? Well guess what, there is now a solution Our digital time capsules are 5 – 10 minute (self-recorded) videos on mobile phones and webcams in response to some engaging questions, allowing people to reflect on their present and record their goals and future aspirations. While the applications for our product are almost limitless, from schools and universities to corporates and not for profits, our first priority is helping rehab clients with their recovery and rehab centers deliver better outcomes. You see…I have ‘a passion for recovery’ and part of my significant progress over the last ten years has been recording my own time capsule videos, recording my hopes, dreams and aspirations and then updating these videos just recently to set new goals… being able to self - express without fear of judgement has been a big part of my progres. Having personally experienced the value of these videos, worked as a case manager at Glebe House for the last eight years and recorded over 100 videos of clients over the last two years who I’ve received plenty of positive feedback from, I now want to help

others. I could go on and on, I hope this has been able to explain a little bit about what we do at encapsulator. PGMAG: What are the two books that changed your life? DS: OMG, embarrassing but at the same time I almost feel proud to say I am not a reader, I do consume a lot of video content these days and I have learned so much. BUT as it happens I have read two books this past 12 months. Like I said, prior to this I couldn’t even tell you that I have ever read a full book. The 2 books I read were, “Key persons of influence” by Daniel Priestly And the second was “how to quit smoking “by Alan Carr. Haha, guess what, they were two books that changed my life, I am still using tactics today and every day that I learned in the book key persons of influence to build my brand and become noticed. And I am a nonsmoker. Woo Hoo!

acknowledge that I struggled for 17 years on the streets using and abusing any drug I could get my hands on. In and out of jails, institutions and I felt like there was no hope for me. The best advice I ever heard and I never understood it in the early days of recovery, I was told that the opposite of addiction is connection. What did this even mean I thought? Well the fact is that my addiction took me to some dark places and in the end I was all alone, completely isolated from humanity. When I got clean this last time I started to reach out and ask for help, finally. I started to build friendships that I had never even known how to do, I started to find people, who cared for me and people I cared for. Today my life is full of amazing people that I love and care for, as it turns out, they were right. The opposite to Addiction was Connection.

PGMAG: What is your message for someone struggling with an addiction?

PGMAG: Who would be your ideal travel companion?

I have done plenty of both, but I prefer not to be always leading the way. Its exhausting. Someone who can compromise and have lots of laughs and fun. Someone who is kind and brave. I hope that one day I will find my forever partner and travel the world with her. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self? DS: Make sure you practice kindness and compassion always PGMAG: You have been

The Happy Ambassador Concept took birth through her creativity around the year 2004 when as a single mother to a son, she created the character of a ladybug boy who travels the world on different adventures. This is the character on which all the stories of The Happy Ambassador are based upon, and over the years, a world has been created around this concept. What started in 2013 as an Ltd Company, coming out with storybooks, soft toys and scented candles; has now expanded to produce animated adventure fairy tales. Over the years, Ms.Titta has done performances across Finland, in kindergartens, children's clubs, children's hospitals, and festivals. The works of The Happy Ambassador have also reached the kindergartens of UAE and Bulgaria. In Germany, she has performed at Europe’s biggest cultural festival to represent Finnish children's culture, at Museumsuferfest in Frankfurt in the year 2014. Through her specialized

storytelling and other related techniques, Ms. Titta has created an interesting approach, with which kids are able to learn to be active, healthy, happy, kind, compassionate, strong, and creative. A major focus has been given to highlight the cultural diversity of different countries, with an aim to increase cultural awareness among kids so that they learn to respect the world they will enter into, as adults. The overall impact of the programs is that they become an educational and innovative event for the children. The digital content of The Happy Ambassador aims to give children, Edutainment. Her dedication towards this cause has been awe-inspiring as has been putting all her money, time, and energy into its growth since its

PGMAG: From your bio, we understood that you have a unique model which connects women from around the world. Please tell us more about your business. If we learn more about each other, we start to understand more each other. With understanding each other we can make a much better & peaceful World!

We start to learn from each other, inspire, motivate. We start to be there for each other, to do business together & become friends with each other. This lead me to start to do women events, to connect them all.. Globally! I named this women organization Stella Women Around the World. Stella means a star in Italian, and every woman is a star! Our company Stella Polare Boutique Events is doing all kinds of events – starting from the Fashion Shows, Marriages, up to big conferences and concerts. PGMAG: What was one major event that changed your life? ALW: I have 2 sons. When

they suddenly grew up and announced that they are starting their own life – it was a shocking news to me as I was raising my sons alone and lived for them. Suddenly my mission was like completed and it was the moment I didn’t know what to and was lost a bit. This was the time I started to search myself. I started to search my goal in life. I started to travel and search. PGMAG: Your story is very inspiring - especially with the decision to move to a new country. How did you know it was the right decision to make at that time? ALW: This is like a continuing to the previous question. When I was searching myself and my goal in life, I travelled to many countries. I was also in India. My very first visit to Bahrain was by chance! I had a fourhour stopover in the kingdom. At the time my knowledge about Bahrain was very limited, so to get to know the place I decided to take a quick tour, grabbed a taxi from the airport and drove around. I don't

I returned in 2009 for one month. After that I couldn't leave the island anymore and I have been living in Bahrain for more than eleven years. The hospitality of Bahrainis, their caring and generous souls and their welcoming arms especially towards guests, their big hearts is irresistibly enormous. The beautiful Land of the TwoSeas made me get attached to the island. From that moment onward I had an urge to tell the whole world what a beautifully diversified country Bahrain is! It was like I started a beloved mission; to share my story about Bahrain with the rest of the world and tell a tale that has flourishing details in every single page. PGMAG: What is your message to someone who had given up on their dream? ALW: Never give up your DREAMS! You must know that

your dreams do not come true in a moment. It needs time and patience and strong belief in your GOAL DREAM! PGMAG: As a mother and an entrepreneur, how do you create a work/life balance? ALW: I am already a grandmother of 2 sweet grandsons – 1,5 years old and 3,5 years old. All my family lives in Finland, so I travel to them and they travel to me. PGMAG: Who is your role is your role model? ALW: I have many role models – Every woman who has come a long way to achieve her GOAL is my role model! They inspire & motivate me and give me a lot of power. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self? ALW: Once upon a time when I was a small girl, my dream was to see different countries and get acquainted with different people. I had a huge correspondence with so many pen pals from many countries. Now I can say my childhood dream has come true as I am working with my dream now!

Never give up your DREAMS! You must know that your dreams do not come true in a moment. It needs time and patience and strong belief in your GOAL DREAM! PGMAG: Finally, what makes you laugh? ALW: To see my little grandsons and their cute & innocent actions and their sincere saying. PGMAG: It's been great knowing you more through this interview - Thank you for your time! CREATING

PEOPLE’S BANK BHAGWAN SHEKHAWAT People are the power in the democracy. They possess the essence of the real strength of democracy. Their aspirations, needs and desires are met by the representatives elected by them. The political parties make concerted efforts in luring the people and garnish maximum votes by creating people’s bank. Creating people’s bank is a seamless process and requires committed and dedicated efforts by the grassroots political activists. The people have the democratic right to elect the right representatives to govern them rightly and constructively. It is the

UNDERSTANDING POLITICS Politics is a supreme social service but it is wrongly understood by most of the people in the world. It is considered as a means of acquiring colossal power and then getting into the trap of accumulation of wealth which should not be the social mission of a committed social worker. It should not be a source of achieving own selfish motives in life for a dedicated political activist. The real meaning of politics is to empower the people and

transforming their lives by bringing a sustainable positive change which must be holistic and progressive in nature. The desired transformation can be achieved by contributing in the development process which is a routine and primary function of any legitimate Government, being a welfare state. It must be clearly understood that one has to be part of the governance system or the democratic process to serve the people to bring enduring positive transformation in their lives which do encourage community development and results into socioeconomic development of the people. Therefore, the basic requirement to get into the democratic process is to enhance connectivity with the people and create peoples bank by communicating with them directly and collaborating with them seamlessly in quest of creating the committed cascades of communities.

COMMUNICATE WITH THE PEOPLE We must communicate with the people always and every time. This act of direct communication with the people will generate sense of belongingness among them and will have long lasting impact on the public image. The political communication always enhances political awareness and creates unbelievable confidence in the minds of the people that later becomes a force multiplier to strengthen the party base and contributes appreciably during the elections. In the contemporary world where each voter is educated, aware and alert, the communication is the sole key to interact with them. The communication methods have improved in many ways. The most emerging communication tool is social media in addition to the traditional methods

of communication. There should be no veil between you and the people. Educate people and create confidence in them. The continuity in communication creates strong bonding between the people and the leaders. Moreover, the seamless communication will enable a leader to assimilate the people’s mood and understand their aspirations correctly. CONNECT WITH THE PEOPLE Connecting directly with the people is the utmost step to build an everlasting relationship with the people as a people’s servant. The success of a leader purely depends upon connecting himself/herself with the people perfectly and effectively. A leader must regularly interact with the communities and discuss their challenges and difficulties. A workable solution must be JULY 2020

arrived at with a participatory approach which should be acceptable to the people and aim at bringing desired impacts in the societies. The seamless connectivity with the people is an investment which yields encouraging dividends in future. The continued connectivity with the people motivates them to display their invaluable and incredible loyalty for a leader as well as builds a strong base for the political party concerned. The people’s aspirations must become a leader’s mission, in other words, the people’s desire should become a leader’s commitment for life. If the sustainable connectivity with the people is maintained with the people centric approach and holistic progressive contributions, the resultant impact will

36 JULY 2020

be enduring and beyond imaginations. COLLABORATE WITH THE PEOPLE Let us move together hand in hand, should be the enthusing partnering spirit with the people in decision making. This would inspire people and attract them toward the participatory approach methods in routine decision making processes. It has been experienced over a period of time that people’s participation in the development of planning, generates a sense of ownership among them which proves beyond doubt that in any democratic governance system, people’s desire always prevails. These voluntarily involvements of people will undoubtedly

collaborate a leader and the people to further strengthen the community bonding. Especially in the rural areas, people suggest the preferred solutions by means of participatory approach to resolve their peculiar and critical issues of complex nature. The participation of communities facilitates empowerment of people by placing final decision making in their hands which exhibits perfect collaboration with the people. These appreciable activities eventually assist in collaborating with the people at greater level and create people’s bank to garnish maximum votes.

The preferences and aspirations of the people must be respected at all levels because these would ultimately empower and enthuse them. At the same time, better coordination with the people would further yield the better dividends. The continuity in coordination with the public must be maintained at all times because people are traditionally considered as recipients and beneficiaries. Certain opportunist leaders only approach the people and coordinate with them when they need the communities for the electorate support which is unethical and unappreciable in the service of the people. The real essence of democratic governance lies in the participatory approach. A leader must make concerted efforts to remain in connectivity of communities and have continuous coordination with the public. Preferably the political activities must always be coordinated with the people and aligned with their expectations for achieving greater integration.

ENTHUSE PEOPLE, ENABLE PEOPLE AND EMPOWER PEOPLE Assembling cascades of people finally leads to creating People’s Bank. Investing quality time and empowering them by enhancing their competencies and carrying out capacity building to generate job avenues, are the paramount and essential aspects of the good community leadership. The community institutions must be established which must be job centric and create avenues for their skill development to empower them further. A leader must earn people’s trust by having concern for them and mitigating the risks which generally impose challenges in their lives. A leader must educate people and enthuse them which would ultimately enable them to be empowered, self-reliant and progressive to build a prosperous Nation. ‘‘People’s development will make you a People’s Leader.”

AK: Absolutely and as you say, many parents would benefit from our services. My purpose is to empower parents to raising remarkable teenagers. I am especially passionate about parents of teenagers because at this stage, teenagers require a whole different level of parenting. To successfully parent teenagers, parents of teenagers have to rise to a whole new league. Massive changes are happening in the teenagers’ brain which affects how they behave and relate with the world. Therefore parenting teenagers mandates a shift to a whole new level, a shift that parents of teenagers must be willing to

PGMAG: Children are the leaders of tomorrow. They model what we do and how we represent ourselves as parents. In your capacity as a 'Child psychologist', how does your expertise help children to become responsible adults? AK: Indeed, children are the leaders of tomorrow and model what we do. This is the main reason that I focus on empowering parents and educators to be effective models and mentors to teenagers. Research continues to show us that the most effective way to influence behaviour is by modeling and mentoring, not telling and yelling. I speak and share strategies for parenting teenagers and show parents how to effectively model and mentor teenagers. For example, in the program Raising Remarkable Teenagers, I train parents to teach their teenagers “How to be Respectful, Responsible, Resilient, Robust and Radiant.” These 5 pillars when understood and integrated in the teenager’s life, they are bound to succeed in any area of their life and in

I feel very blessed as a child psychologist, researcher, educator and parent, because I combine solid studies about the teenagers’ brain and behaviour. Match these with strategies that influence human behaviour, then, communicate these strategies effectively as an educator. I also have the fortune of practicing them first hand myself as a parent of teenagers. For example when I speak with parents about teaching teenagers to be responsible, I talk about the 4P process. 1. Planning; Assessing and discussing readiness and areas of responsibilities and upgrades. It is crucial to know the ability of the teenager and the timing so we are not introducing responsibilities to much too soon and overwhelming them and also

2. Presence; Being available, in the right way and allowing autonomy and independence. Presence real or perceived provides an anchor and assurance that translates into compassion for the teenager and builds their self confidence. However, a balance needs to be stuck to allow the independence and autonomy that teenagers seek and crave for. 3. Propping; Empowering, supporting and managing teens to take new steps and risks. Scaffolding is very essential as the teenager makes the moves towards new found confidence and responsibilities. 4. Praising; Praising and rewarding the process, progress and person (teenager). The power of praise and correct praise cannot be underestimated. The praise we recommend is descriptive praise where which the teenager is more likely to believe and this will ignite selfassurance and esteem as well as the willingness to continue trying and going on. When I speak with teenagers,

I help them understand what is happening within their brain and to identify their power and potential to be more and do more. This understanding obliterates confusion and they gain a self belief and a power to self manage and it is from this point I then communicate personal development strategies that facilitates advancement and development. PGMAG: Amidst the global challenge (COVID-19), what are your messages for parents who are struggling to work with their children - Especially the teenagers? AK: This pandemic has shaken even the strongest of us. It’s even tougher for teenagers, who, on top of trying to make sense of changes happening within them they have to contend with not meeting their friends and not going to school. Here are 4 Ways I have been sharing with parents how we can help teenagers navigate this challenge. 1. Be grounded, lead by example and model safety precautions, washing hands and social distancing. Learn as much as you can about the virus and how to control it. Then control your own worries. For if you don’t, this will transfer

40 JULY 2020

straight to your kids especially teenagers. 2. Listen in and reassure them. Validate their feelings remember all feelings are valid, even though not based on facts and truth. Encourage teenagers to research from reputable sources and then discuss the findings. This way together you can sort out facts or fiction and de-mystify myths. 3. Maintain some normal and predictability especially eating well and sleeping well. Encourage keeping in touch with their friends and support them in dealing with social distancing battles and blues. Encourage them to find ways of celebrating each other virtually. Help them to manage keeping connected but don’t ignore the benefits of disconnecting; rest and rejuvenate. 4. Explore what good can be found in this situation. Explore and discuss the negative and the positives. How they can they make the negatives better? For example; if they identify how lonely some elderly neighbours might be, can they help deliver meals to the isolated elderly person? Can they make funny videos and or poems for kids in hospital? When teenagers are allowed to

think freely you’ll be surprised with the solutions they come up with. But we must be brave enough to bring up these conversations otherwise the teenager, left totally to their own devices, will probably just lock themselves in their room all day and night.

PGMAG: Please share a little bit about your project on 'stop feeling sorry – change the story'. AK: I work with young people from all over the world. From volunteering for Barnados to helping girls in Kenya attain an education. I learnt a long time ago that the only way to change the world is to stop feeling sorry and to change the story. See, any person can feel sorry because this is an instinctive human response. But higher humans transform these instincts to insights. They move from feeling sorry to changing the story. My question to everyone is in whatever you do, how are you changing someone’s story? See, I grew up in a remote impoverished village in Kenya, and because someone moved beyond feeling sorry for me

In my job working to empower parent of teenagers my aim is always to change the story, empower the parent to gain the knowledge, strength and ability to succeed in their parenting teenagers. This is the thread that runs everything I do. PGMAG: What is your message for the youth? AK: You can be and do whatever your heart’s desires, yes, you can. Just Be Kind PGMAG: What are the three books that changed your life? AK: The power of positive thinking, changes that heal and the power of Intention. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self?

to changing my story, I am the person I am. They stopped feeling sorry for me and changed my story. Because they transformed their sorry instincts to insights, they changed my story. I was educated. I in turn educated all my siblings and other people in the village and still continue to educate girls in that area. I have changed the story of the whole village the individuals tell their story of victory. AK: What they think about you is none of your business, you are enough. PGMAG: And finally, what makes you laugh? AK: So many things make me laugh. But this is the tops of them all because it happens every day! There is a map of the world on my fridge from which we scrape off places we’ve been. Before we bought it I thought I had been all over the world. But the map reminds me how big the world is and how many more places I am yet to visit and venture.

to reinvent myself and redefine my values and mission, how I wanted to serve and impact peoples’ life. I traded security of job for growth and fulfillment. I believe that we can find a new sense of security in expressing our new Self, in growing, exploring new avenues and contributing in new ways.

PGMAG: Who is Catherine Thiry? CT: I’m a French Career Transition Coach, I help ambitious women at 50+ launch a successful online business. I transitioned from teaching to coaching. After teaching German for 25 years at highschool and University mainly in France, but also in Luxemburg and Belgien, I quit my secured job as a teacher and I decided

PGMAG: From what we gathered from our research, it appears to us that your main focus is to help women in their 50s to unleash their potential. Please tell us more about your mission. CT: I think that a lot of women have been conditioned to not think about what they really want to be, to do and to have in their life. They

PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently? CT: I would value growth over comfort and security, value change as a powerful experience to discover possibilities and capabilities. Because when we settle for less than we are capable of being, we become deeply unhappy. I would make changes without being attached to a specific expected outcome. We often resist change because we are afraid of the failure, we would like to know the outcome, the consequences of our decision

before making a change. That might keep us stuck in an unfulfilling job. When we learn to turn our fear of failure into opportunity of learning about ourselves, we develop creativity, agility and flexibility to reach our goals. PGMAG: What is your message for those who are struggling to discover their life purposes? CT: You do not have one single life purpose in your life, as your personality evolves it is not permanent, your life purpose will change too. The risk is being too attached to an old identity and trying to make a change from that place. It’s a process you can’t do alone, because your conditioning doesn’t allow you to see other possibilities, and to expand your vision beyond your familiar world. It was the case for me, school was my world, a safe but constrained bubble. It took me time to figure out a new life map and a new destination. PGMAG: What are the five books that changed your life? CT: The first book that helped me understand the process of change was” Finding your North Star” from Martha Beck. Change is a complex

You do not have one single life purpose in your life , as your personality evolves it is not permanent, your life purpose will change too. mysterious process, you might have a vision for your life but you might not be ready to implement it . I appreciated also “Start with Why” from Simon Sinek , you can not make a change if you are not clear about your why. I would recommend also The Values Factor from Dr John Demartini - the key to living a fulfilling life is through living a life centred around your highest values. The Code of extraordinary Mind from Vishen Lakhiani is a great book to help you question conventional truths that might have impacted your life choices and visions, and had prevented you from living a life aligned with your values, desires and your new evolving Self. have been conditioned to not put their values and themselves first as a result they often compromise to please others. 50 is the stage in life where your self-awareness rises, where self-realization becomes your priority, where you can take the time to refocus on your desires because you have less parental responsibilities, you have raised your children, may be you also have less financial burdens, you have paid your mortgage and you know that your priority is to find a meaning to your life. Discovering your life purpose is a way of experiencing a new form of ambition.

PGMAG: Looking at your message "late success is lasting success"; what do you mean by that saying? CT: Late success is often a fulfilling success, success achieved early in life might not be aligned with your true values, desires and aspirations! It might be attached to money, status or tittle, which are external validation for success. Success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure as Tony Robbins said. Success is being true to yourself and with aging

comes authenticity . PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self? CT: Be curious, experiment, learn, focused on growth, when you grow you are happy and you succeed in life. Success is making progress towards your goals even if it takes you time to reach your goals. PGMAG: How do you create work/life balance? CT: I set every day free time for self care activities like journaling, meditating, visualizing, walking in nature. They are part of my daily routine, training both mind and body every day is of utmost importance .

and Empowering Questions.’ I truly believe it’s possible to have a healthy mind and healthy body to allow you to reach your goals/ dreams for successfully when you have the right tools and strategies at hand- importantly to be open and authentic with yourself. When you are mindful, both works hand in hand then amazing things begin to happen.

www.powerhouseglobalmag.com

PGMAG: What are the three books that changed your life? ZN: The Secret by Rhonda Byrne- she explains with such simplicity the law that is governing all lives, and offers the knowledge of how to create intentionally and effortlessly a joyful life. It develops another way of thinking and seeing life. Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins- Talks about how we all have the power, the tools within us at our disposal. We just need to dig deeper to allow it to grow. His book enables us to reflect and evaluate how we have the power to control how we think, how we feel, and what we do. And that anything we want or desire in our life, we already have the power to achieve it. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett- This is such an inspiring story that is based on that anyone can change. That one shouldn't let dark thoughts hold you back, because they will only make you worse. With hope and determination, however, you can overcome anything. PGMAG: What is your message for those who are struggling with depression? ZN: This is such a tricky subject

that majority of the population shy away from because of the fear of not knowing what to say or because of simple ignorancethe stigma around it. There are no magic words that will make someone feel better and it can be tough to know what to say to someone that is suffering. In my opinion and personal experiences, avoiding the subject is the worst tactic,

the worst thing you can do for that person. It breeds guilt within the sufferer and makes them feel like an outsider, which can end up pushing them further away. • You are not alone. I may not understand how you feel but you are not alone. • Do you want to talk about it? I’m here when you’re ready.

For others to know and be aware of: • Let them know that you are there for them. • Listening to them is the key and not dismissing what they say. • Reassurance • Show empathy but do not be patronising • Let them know that there is support out there *Educate yourself about depression-The more you know about depression, the better you will be able to empathise with your loved one and the more effective you will be in helping them to find the professional care that they need.

ZN: I would say: Don’t be afraid to ask for help because there will always be surprising people to help you along the way,and keep your eyes open to recognise them. I am worth so much, I’m beautiful as I am. Let my flaws and vulnerabilities shine to show my growth. PGMAG: Many thanks to you Neetha, for granting us this interview. NS: Thank you, Lady Anita and Powerhouse Team, for this wonderful opportunity to help share my message. It’s such an honor, and as I’m learning more about the work you are doing, I’m even more inspired to do my best in my mission to empower others. PGMAG: Please tell us, who is Neetha Sanjay? 50 JULY 2020

NS: Wow! That’s my favorite question to ask my coachees and mentees as well. I would describe myself as a resilient and confident woman who has beaten the odds and not only survived but thrived and is on a mission to share my learning to empower women to take control and live the lives they deserve on their own terms. This is the mission that makes me jump out of bed every day.

positive and spreading positivity, and this helps me see the good in every day. I’m at a happy and contended space now, knowing I'm on the right path, working on my purpose in life. Add in a bit of fun to that equation, and that's me!

I’m a big believer of being

NS: I usually joke about how

PGMAG: It's interesting to know that you were once a "dental surgeon." How did you transit from one demanding profession to another?

I'm originally from India, was a practicing dental surgeon in Mumbai, when my husband got an excellent career opportunity in Singapore. So we moved to Singapore 20 years ago but was devastated to know that there was no provision of me practicing dentistry here. After the initial disappointment, I pulled myself up and explored various roles in the healthcare management industry. In between, we did a short stint in Shanghai, China, which was a great cultural experience for both my daughters. Once we moved back to Singapore, it was time for both my daughters to leave for University studies to the US, so instead of getting back in Management, I took a career break to spend more time with the family and started volunteering at Nonprofit organizations. During that time, my interactions with many women opened my eyes to the various challenges they had in their personal and professional lives, and I realized that I had a natural flair for coaching and mentoring, and It was gratifying to see their transformation.

www.powerhouseglobalmag.com

I shifted from a profession of giving beautiful smiles to people using my tools and now doing the same without any scary toolset!

So I went on to get a global certification as a life and career coach. It's funny that I had my friends and peers telling me to be a counselor all these years as I was the " go-to person " for life advice for many, but only recently I realized that this is the most ideal profession for me. PGMAG: As a life coach and a community leader, what are the three keys to leading a team? NS: I would say the three keys to being a great leader would be 1) having a strong vision and communicating it clearly, 2) getting the team to focus on their individual and as well as their collective strengths to accelerate team success 3) providing a safe space for learning and growth, so that

they take ownership and accountability. Quite often, I have noticed that somewhere in the process, they forget about their collective strengths and goals and start working in silos. It's the leader's role to make sure they keep their eyes on their team goal at all times. PGMAG: How would you describe your style of leadership? NS: I believe in an inclusive and inspiring leadership that promotes creativity and innovation. Whenever I have to lead teams, I get them to do a SWOT analysis of themselves and as a team first. That helps to bring the team together through honest reflection and sharing before planning

strategies and execution. I emphasize on learning as you go, so they have a space to experiment and be creative in finding solutions to their challenges. Being super taskoriented, I love to inspire my team to take action. My key slogan is "Focus on progression and not perfection." And for every project, we create an inspiring hashtag! PGMAG: What does change mean to you? NS: I'm one of those odd ones who love change. I think having spent half of my life in India living in various parts, one becomes very adaptive to change because each state

52 JULY 2020

in India is like a country on its own with its unique culture, language, cuisine, and dressing style. I find change as an opportunity to learn and grow. When we had to move to China as a family, I was pretty excited because it allowed my daughters to explore a new culture and language and to learn to think on their feet as their life in Singapore was very protected. Also, exploring various diverse roles during the last 15 years and collecting a wealth of experience has given me the confidence to embrace change. PGMAG: What are the three books that changed your life?

NS: I love to be surrounded by books, and I must confess that I hoard books and have a shelf load of books yet to be read! The three books that really inspired me would be Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist " with a message that when a person really desires something, the whole Universe will conspire to help that person realize his dream. I love that quote, and it came true for me in so many ways. The second one would be Simon Sinek's Why, where he talks about the golden circle of Why, What, and How. I also truly believe that if you have crystal clarity of the" why" behind what you are doing, it

The third one is not a light read. It is a book you can enjoy slowly and keep referring to, to understand the principles of living. It's called the "Vedanta Treatise" by an eminent philosopher named A Parthasarathy. It's simple and profound at the same time. PGMAG: In the current global challenge (COVID-19), how have you managed to keep your business going? NS: Before the pandemic, I had clients for coaching and mentoring globally, so I was used to working in a virtual environment. After the initial uncertainties, I worked on dialling up my online presence and learning to be more efficient on a virtual platform, connecting more with my clients and helping them navigate the crisis. Being a community leader, I did my best to be there for anyone who needed emotional support. PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently? NS: I would have been more kind to myself. I grew up in an environment with a lot

of expectations as well as adversities, and I was pretty hard on myself pushing to do my best always. Now I'm a big advocate of self-compassion. PGMAG: What is your message for the women who are struggling to find their place in the global market? NS: I would ask them to first have crystal clarity on themselves - their inner strength, expertise, mission, and the value they bring to the table. Once they are clear, I would encourage them to come forward on social platforms and work on building their visibility and credibility by consistently showing up and creating relevant content. I firmly believe that there is nothing called failure. So I would strongly advise them to embrace every opportunity they are passionate about as they will either succeed or learn. Keep progressing with a strong self-belief, and you will get there. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self? NS: I think I would say how proud I am of the person you have turned out to be and just keep going.

PGMAG: Finally, who would be your ideal travel companion? NS: That's a great question. I enjoy intellectual conversations with a bit of fun during my travels. My husband is a great travel companion as he's a great listener as well. If I had the opportunity, it would be Michelle Obama because I think she's the perfect blend of intellect, adventure, and fun! I had a chance to watch her live in Singapore and she’s so inspiring! PGMAG: Thank you once again for your time. Your contribution is highly appreciated. NS: Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I would like to leave one message for your readers .“Don’t be afraid to fall. In life, adversities are inevitable, but you have the power to choose to rise up stronger every time.” PGMAG: Please share your links with our readers. took in order to overcome your challenges? PLS: My Parents always taught us that we all had unique gifts and that anything was achievable if we applied ourselves. Some of the challenges I have faced, have

been when others have not always seen in me what I knew I could do – I have had to work harder on those occasions to prove them wrong. Right back in school for example, the careers teacher asked me what I wanted to do - as an avid reader and someone who

PGMAG: As a woman in a senior role with over 35 years of experience in leadership, what would you say are the top three keys of a successful leader? PLS: For me, leadership has to be ‘heartfelt’ – by that I mean three things: Firstly, it’s about understanding and recognising your own story as the source of your own unique strength. Secondly; the ability to create spaces and opportunities for others to speak and be heard, especially those usually silenced. Thirdly, it’s about ‘lifting as you climb’ using your opportunities to support growth and success in others. wanted to travel, I said I wanted to do both…she suggested I should drive a mobile Library! I was first to go to university in my family, expectations were high and family support strong. But learning to navigate new places, engaging in conversations which were not part of my experience meant learning fast and thinking on my feet. I have continued to do that. Every time I didn’t quite succeed in the way I wanted was a trigger for me to learn why and do better next time: As Maya Angelou said “when you know better, do better” – and that was my mantra. But the security of a sound family background and support from 56 JULY 2020

my close network of friends was what sustained me through those times – and still does. PGMAG: With the current global challenge (COVID-19), and as a person in the healthcare service industry, how do think people should conduct themselves in order to reduce the negative effect of the pandemic? PLS: We all know that 2020 has turned out to be a very different year than we imagined due to COVID19. Worldwide I think it has revealed why I think good health is the cornerstone of good life chances. There are clear public health messages

on what we can do individually and collectively to reduce the spread of the virus and to safeguard ourselves. Some of the things we are being asked to do call for a great deal of sacrifice – such as isolating from loved ones and even more challenging is how it has prevented some from attending funerals of close family members. However, heeding these requests are essential if we are to overcome the health challenges we face and restore our quality of life. PGMAG: If you were invited to address world leaders on the way forward in preventing future global crisis such as

PGMAG: What would you say to women who are struggling to find their purpose in life?

PGMAG: Finally, how do you create work/life balance amidst your busy schedules?

PLS: COVID19 has shown itself, like pandemics (or plagues) before it, NOT to be an equal opportunities virus. Those least able to help themselves, or those least provided for in our societies have suffered the most in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. It has not created inequalities but has shone a light on many of the injustices, inequalities and differences in our societies. It is demonstrating to us, where we need to put our efforts, not just across health, but also in relation to a range of related issues which intersect with health chances such as reducing poverty, improving education and access to resources or challenging loneness and isolation. My message to all world leaders – or anyone in a leadership role would be to answer this question “Who is this current pandemic impacting on most in your country/organization? – what is their experience telling you about your country/ organization?”…THAT is where you need to make changes or put your efforts….a vaccine alone will not be enough to prevent this happening again.

PLS: Leadership resides in you as you. Remember your story, who you are – that is your strength. You are already a leader, every day, in every decision you make and everything you do. Take a deep breath – you’ve got this!

PLS: I make time for me. I have taken a while to learn that – time is our most precious commodity. Every day I make a pact with myself of when I am going to start and stop work. And I try not to break promises!

PGMAG: What were the three books that changed your life? PLS: The women’s room (Marilyn French) - The phrase ‘The personal is political’ set me on my own journey of selfappreciation and self-agency I know why the Caged Bird sings (Maya Angelou) – fabulous prose from Maya Angelou. A story of self-growth and love. Eat Pray Love (Elizabeth Gilbert) – I picked this up on holiday, just to pass time and found myself in the story. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self?

DR. ESSIE MCKOY (EM) (INTERVIEW WAS CONDUCTED BY ASHLEY LITTLE) make a profound difference in the lives of others. I have had the opportunity to serve for thirty plus years in the field of education and continue to make an impact in the lives of others through serving as an educator, author, speaker, and coach. PGMAG: Dr. Essie, why are you so passionate about education and making an impact?

PGMAG: Who is Dr. Essie Mckoy? EM: I am a God-fearing woman who has been blessed with two beautiful and amazing kids! I grew up in Milwaukee, NC with my late mother, Evangelist Essie and my father Reverend John Manley and four brothers and sisters. I was the first to attend college in my immediate family and received four degrees. My goal in life is to allow God to align my purpose with my destiny and be able to use all my God-given gifts to

58 JULY 2020

EM: I am passionate about education due to the impact it has had on my life. I experience every day the benefits, the opportunities, and the on-going impact I get to make in the lives of others. Amazingly, when I was a young child, I would watch my teachers teach and go home after school and emulate them. I tired speaking like them, moving like them, and writing like them! I wanted to be just like them! I thought they were so professional and of course, then, they made it look so easy. I always share with people to do what they love and love what they do, and they will watch their passions manifest in every aspect of their lives. I can say that I love the field of education and I have served in several roles throughout my journey! PGMAG: Dr. Essie, you are the CEO/Founder of Dr. Essie Speaks please tell us more about your educational consulting business? EM: My Educational Consulting Business Dr. Essie Speaks, will allow clients to gain

the skills to lead effectively and allow them to create a model of excellence for their own professional growth and development. Clients will be able to turn their challenges into opportunities, ensure that responsibilities are fulfilled, and enhance their capacity to serve and lead! PGMAG: What makes your services unique? EM: My services are unique in that I have served in a multitude of roles and fulfilled responsibilities beyond expectations. Therefore, I provided high quality services to my clients. In addition, I have acquired the necessary educational experience, credentials, and knowledge to provide the services and attended several leadership programs throughout the nation from Harvard University to Howard University. This allowed me to gain the depth and breadth of knowledge to apply to the services I offer. PGMAG: Why is education so important when trying to get to the next level? EM: Education is so important, not only to gain the credentials, but to have the learned knowledge to be able to apply to the next position. Of course, knowledge is not the only thing needed, but you must have the

experience and many times that education comes from the firsthand experience you gain while doing the job and positioning yourself for the next opportunity. Education is the right of every person and often the promise to the future. It gives one an opportunity to realize their dreams and reach their full potential. With an education you can empower yourself and enable yourself to be promoted to the next position. I often tell young people find out what you desire to be in life and seek the education about your particular interests, whether it is going to college, going into the military, doing an apprenticeship, learning a trade or skill, or becoming an entrepreneur. Bottom line, you must educate

OUR JOURNEY

MICHAEL CALAWAY The past 8 weeks has been pure pandemic pandemonium for Barbara and I. We've been at home approximately 3 or 4 days during this span. No one could have foreseen the impact that the Corona Virus would take upon our city of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I certainly hadn't realized the impact of our nation until Barbara and I were informed that the company that we were dedicated to drive for was about to go through a full shutdown. It was at that point that life as we see it would drastically change. Over the next 8 weeks I began to see everything from a different perspective. The changes we were about to experience would be challenging, definitive, and cause us to have to alter many of our norms in what we saw as daily life. Now, as I look back over this time of change I'm able to see the great hurdles we've overcome. Life has a way of placing you in positions you don't like to be in. How do you handle the change? I believe attitude is where it all starts. 60 JULY 2020

The changes we were about to experience would be challenging, definitive, and cause us to have to alter many of our norms in what we saw as daily life.

Barbara and I have been driving trucks since 2006. Before we were introduced to this idea of driving trucks, she was an insurance agent for a formidable company, while I was a tire builder. The plant that I was working for was going through a restructuring process and had informed me that all jobs at my particular plant would be moving to Mexico. What! Barbara and I had just gotten married, made a new house purchase, and was looking forward to living out our dreams together. Life doesn't always work out the way we may desire, but we must always remember that you and I are vessels of many gifts and talents. When we come up against different

problems and trials, our best way to respond is with an attitude of positivity and faith. For Barbara and I, this was about to allow us to grow in our skill level, and give us a whole new perspective on life. Sometimes we should take the time to expand our horizons by stepping out of our comfort zones with the idea that we may embark on hidden jewels that lay along the new path we're walking. I believe this is true in every facet of life. Barbara and I have a little companion that rides everywhere we go in the truck. LeLe is a true source of entertainment, as well as, a loyal friend who will stay up late with me on the nights I'm driving in the early morning hours. I usually wake up just before midnight to start my shift, and Barbara switches places with me. So whenever she's driving I'm sleeping, and vice versa. Each morning when I'm starting my drive I utilize this time to listen to scripture on my phone, and spend time praying and meditating. Over the last few weeks Barbara

and I have seen some major changes in the normal lifestyle we've come to know in the US. We've traveled to almost every "hotspot" where the virus has been deemed the highest cases of death, and positive identification of virus outspread. Our first 2 weeks we were dispatched from our beloved city of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma down south to the city of Denton, Texas. We were asked to distribute food to all the surrounding areas in that region. Hoarding was an early problem during the pandemic, causing everyone to panic. We stayed on the move, delivering groceries and essential goods to places like Dallas,Texas\ New Orleans, Louisiana\ Phoenix, Arizona\ Los Angeles, California\ and plenty of other cities throughout the United States. While we were in New York, we experienced an electric fire in our truck. This was a very scary experience, but it wasn't long before we were back on the road accomplishing the task at hand. We're now home, enjoying approximately 36 hours of home time before getting back on the road. As I look back, I've gained a new perspective concerning what I treasure in life. I used to see money as a major game

62 JULY 2020

changer, but had to quickly realize that a person can have money, without access to resources. I started seeing that my ability to transport goods to the effected areas of the country were truly making an impact on many lives. It caused me to experience humility in a whole new way. As I look back I've learned some common truths that may help someone that may be experiencing hardship, excessive worry, lack of direction, or you're just not knowing what to do next. Attitude will determine your outcome, because it is the driving force for daily life. So if you're going to press forward, but have a negative attitude about how you're going to reach your objective, your energy will be quickly depleted. Determination is that focus on the finish line. Don't allow distractions that take your focus away from the prize you're so desperately seeking to gain. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Meditating on the words of our creator allows us to ruminate on what He tells us. Spending some quiet time with God always creates a dynamic that cannot occur from any other sojourney Lastly, don't be afraid to venture out into new realms

of ideas you may have been keeping on the back burner. Start creating your strategies with a sense of pride, knowing that you are unique, along with your ideas. I want to thank powerhouse Global for creating an environment for potential leaders, entrepreneurs, and people of purpose with the platforms that will transform our world, our communities, and our culture into zones of achievement, success, and reward!

e should be thankful to the Almighty for having blessed us with the life of a human being, the supreme being in the entire universe. We should understand its significance and make the most of it by doing good deeds and noble actions. A life dedicated to the service to humanity is the most sublime way of making life worth living. We bear the major responsibility to society. Our first duty is to the social group, to society and humanity. A life lived only for the fulfillment of personal gains is

DR.KUL PRAKASH When even plants and animals serve the society in many ways, why can’t we as human beings do anything to make the world a better place to live? worthless. As human beings, we are bestowed with the power of reflection and contemplation by the God. When even plants and animals serve the society in many ways, why can’t we as human beings do anything to make the world a better place to live? There is no use living a life

which is wasted in just fulfilling personal interests. We never want to know if anyone around us needs our help, may be a little kind word can make some solution for his problem. But we do not really bother. It is a pity that we have become victims of selfishness in the modern world where everyone seems to be involved in the pursuit of materialistic pleasures. It is a mistake on the part of all of us that we have forgotten such values as brotherhood, unity and selflessness. We have become moneyminded which seems to have

become the be all and end all of mankind. The realisation of truth does come but by the time one realises their mistake, it is too late and we become too old to do anything to the service of humanity. Humanity is strengthened when we help the less privileged, make them feel happy and put smile on their faces. As a Leader, your actions tell more about your state of mind than the size of the challenge. Help ever, expect never an ironic statement that explains the need to assist people solely for the pleasure of serving humanity and not for any selfish interest. Our life turns useless from the very moment we stop thinking about the well-being of others. All the relations should be honest. No one should keep any negative thoughts regarding someone. That is the solution to earn 64 JULY 2020

mutual respect amongst all the citizens. Nowadays, humanity seems to have reached its lowest point when it comes to morality and ethical values. You pick up a newspaper, the news of murders, kidnapping, theft and deception are everywhere. We turn on a TV set to have more of such pathetic incidents as killing by terrorists, people dying due to road rage, the innocents being killed everywhere for no reasons. The whole world should confine itself to be one strong family when it faces any disastrous conditions. It is high time we must do something to save humanity from going to the dogs. We should stop being confined to our personal problems and look beyond that at issues of larger interest. Do right ‘Karma’ for yourself and for others. If you do something good

for someone, it comes back to you in one form or other. People remember you for your deeds and for what you did for society. Serve humanity to liberate yourself from the complex web of life. If you think only a rich person can help others or people occupying important positions can help others, you are mistaken. All you need to possess is a graceful heart, good intentions and pure soul to make the mother earth a better place to live. When you devote yourself wholeheartedly to the service to humanity, you realize that you have taken birth on this earth for some purpose. It goes without saying that service to humanity is the service to God. One single kind step of yours can inspire others, and that can save many lives. Humanity is

our religion. With our action we may join humanity in our life performance, it is certainly clear that it will be having a rising head of kindness around us. Thus, the service to humanity results in the oneness. It brings hope and life to the downtrodden and the disheartened. When peace and harmony become the main cause of every kind of service rendered to the nation and its people, it becomes the service to God. When an orphan gets a cuddling hand to light their life, it becomes a Godly gesture. When a deprived life blissfully along with the rest of the humanity, it is the kingdom of God. At last I will say that – “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone”

Powerful Global Women Foundation (Powerhouse Charity) was founded in 20l6 in Nigeria, West Africa, by Lady Anita Duckworth-Bradshaw. The core objective of this organization is to transform the lives of women and children, through various projects centred around the need of the service group. In 20l6 Lady Anita single handedly fed over 400 children as part of “project feed l000 children globally”, and held an empowerment conference for the women. Through this project, so many women have gone to do great things with the knowledge they gained from the event. She recently held a life transforming event for women in Lagos, Nigeria as part of International women’s month celebration 20l8. The turnout was very encouraging. She is working towards supporting more families to keep their children and wards in school through” project back-to-school” starting in September 20l8. We are seeking for global support from individuals and organisations who would love to be a part of this service to humanity. Meet the African Representative of Powerful Global Women Foundation (Mrs Evelyn Emeka). A woman with the heart of putting smile on faces of others. A great entrepreneur in the network marketing industry. She is also a Powerhouse Speaker.
