FORM MAKING INSPIRATION

UNDULATED MOUNTAIN RANGE

Inner Mongolia 01.2016-06.2016 Hot Spring Hotel / Ski Resort Balihan a suburban area in Inner Mongolia, was once famous for its hot spring.

The five star hotel is part of the master plan to bring tourism back to this hot spring hometown. The hotel located at the highest point of the site looking down to the ski and recreational area at the foothill.

Series of cuvred roofs mimicks the silhouette of the mountains.

The reverse cured in front looks like berms coming out from the ground housing the ski shop and spa area.

POPULAR TREES CAMOUFLAGE FACADE

Inspired by the nature scenic, the hot spring hotel draws language from the dense forest of popular trees. The emphasis of verticality on the facade blends the hotel with nature.

PLACE MAKING SKI / EXCITMENT SPA / RELAXATION VILLA / RETREAT RETAIL VILLAGE / EXPERIENCE Injecting different programs to the site, Balihan is designated as a wellness village for all seasons and all ages.

Its hot spring sources are rich and pure, offering a great diversity of holistic healing possibilities and retreat from nearby urban environments.

From its historical origins, until today, people of this land have celebrated a healthy and prosperous outdoor living and master their resources to thrive in the natural environment.

The vision for this land today will insure that guests of Balihan are immerse in the Springs of prosperity, healing and healthy living.

As a tourism town, Balihan not only offer the historical hot spring, but also the modern activities - ski. The four star ski hotel offers equipment rental and connects directly to gondola station for easy ski field entry.

While the retail village marked the main entrance with picturesque lake view and retro chinese buildings. Within the village, there are cinema, performing areas, restaurants, and shops that brings people back to the ancient China markets.

The remote access and prestige location of the five star hotel creats a unique scenic path and panoramic over the whole town.

Passing the ravine, on the west of the hot spring hot are the luxury villas.

Embracing the topography the Hot Spring hotel steps down from the north wing entrance, to open hot spring court yard, then to the south guestroom.

Guest or Visitor will enter the hotel from the high point looking down to the vista of Balihan.

The Levels are carefully calibrated for the programs and also the cut and fill, so as to minimize the impact on the site and cost.

On the left are the studies of the intervention that we can make along the infrastructure to have a postive urban impact on nearby area. Different levels of intervention are proposed for cost purpose.

Above diagram, base on the idea of Transit oriented development, studies has been carried out to forsee how to maximize the amount of residential, business and leisure space within walking distance of public transport.

Multiples options with respect to cost are proposed through out the whole project on different level. The budget of the projects are still pending on the stake holders, state and potential developerâ&#x20AC;&#x2DC;s decision.

VIADUCT STRUCTURE EAST OF UNION

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES

The new massive viaduct, that allows the continuation of the train service , will transform union station from the terminal station to a run through station.

The viaduct will bridge on top of exisiting 101 freeway. Striations pattern serves to unify the bents and colunmns underneath the deck.

On top of the 101 is the oval platform that allows the pratical use of track and bridge inspection station, and at the same time it signifies the entrance to LA downtown.

COST BASED OPTIONS

Intervention of parks, event spaces and cultural functions under this bridge are intend to bring lifes to the area. The pocket spaces and passageways are intended to stitch the urban fabric together that was onced divided by these massive structures.

The under ground passageway is an expansion of current tunnel that connects the historical building and the bus plaza.

The interior diamond structures are the abstract extraction from the historical concourse floor pattern. The echo of the historical and new elements unify the experience as you walk across the site.

Diamond shape sky light follows the structure and brings light into the almost 20 feet underground space.

Hollywood 07.2018-present Laboratory Renovation of leased 30,260 SF of vacant suite B230 on the second floor of the Pacific Design Center (PDC) Blue Building in West Hollywood, California. This project is to accommodate the molecular biology laboratory that accommodates innovation research in clinical and scientific discoveries and treatments to cancer.

The Pacific Design Cneter was designed by Cesar Pelli in the 70s for the building materials show room. As the shopping habbit altered by the internet, most of the floors become vacant.

Innovation center reuse the vacant space for other purpose.

Every rooms in the lab are carefully planned with for all the casework and equipment.

Ceilings are carefully layout to allow the services panel aligning with the benches.
