Three birds are the first stamp motifs in 2018.

Polar Motifs is the title of a new series of definitive stamps that will be introduced on February 16 next year. The motifs in 2018 depict Bouvet Island, but the series will also include motifs from both the Arctic and Antarctica.

Gunnar Sønsteby is the most highly decorated citizen in Norway, and he is being honoured on his 100th anniversary with a stamp signed Sverre Morken. Sverre Morken is also the engraver behind the minisheet for the Royal Couple’s golden wedding anniversary.

A total of 24 stamps will be issued in 2018.

Dear Customer!

This year marks 100 years since Norway’s hearing impaired became organised.

This was the start of what would later be called Hørselshemmedes Landsforbund (National Federation for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing). Today, the federation consists of more than 62,000 members and is the world’s largest organisation of its kind. This anniversary will be celebrated at Oslo City Hall on 17 November, but the federation’s most important work is done on a daily basis, namely making every single day easier for people with hearing disabilities.

Next year is the 100th anniversary of Norges Døveforbund (Norway Association for the Deaf). This association has played a central role in the fight for the rights of the deaf. Today, it works actively to spread sign language. Even though the 100th anniversary is next year, the stamp will be issued already on 10 November. This means the stamp will be available for the entire anniversary year.

This year’s Christmas stamps were drawn by Ragnar Aalbu.

He has devoted one stamp to a Christmas celebration in the country and one to a Christmas celebration in the city. These evocative stamps will adorn millions of Christmas cards during the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Etter eit studieopphald i Danmark stifta læraren Jacobine Rye i 1917 ei velforeining for tunghøyrde i Kristiania.

Tunghørtes Vel, seinare Norges Hørselvern, går i dag under namnet Hørselshemmedes Landsforbund. HLF er den største høyrselsorganisasjonen i verda, med over 62 500 medlemmer. Dei arbeider opp mot politikarar og styresmakter med eitt mål for auge; å gjere kvardagen enklare for dei høyrselshemma.

Norges Døveforbund vart stifta 18. mai 1918 og har i dag nærare 2 800 medlemmer fordelt på 22 lokallag og to fylkeslag. Organisasjonen skildrar seg sjølv som ein språkpolitisk organisasjon «for tegnspråklige og arbeider for å styrke norsk tegnspråks stilling på alle områder i samfunnet». Det overordna målet til Døveforbundet er å oppnå full deltaking og likestilling i samfunnet for døve og høyrselshemma.

New international reply coupon The Universal Postal Union (UPU) announced a competition in 2016 with the theme “the Post and sustainable development”. Vietnamese artist Nguyen Du won the competition with a design featuring a pair of open hands and a dove against an Arctic backdrop. The reply coupon is valid in all UPU member countries and can be exchanged for a stamp with international postage until 31 December 2021.
