READY TO SHAPE YOUNG MINDS
GRETCHEN HENNEMAN ’24, an early level education major from Bradford, Pa.
Growing up in the Bradford community, Gretchen Henneman always had a strong passion for her local community and always envisioned herself on the PittBradford campus. But when the COVID pandemic hit, she was forced to spend her early years in college learning online through another university.
So, when the time came when she was able to experience college in person and on campus, she could hardly wait to get to Pitt-Bradford. And the campus community didn’t disappoint. In addition to her involvement in extracurriculars, Gretchen’s eyes have been opened by the depth of hands-on preparation she’s received as an early level education major.
“I believe that the amount of classroom experience prior to graduation is what sets the Pitt-Bradford education program apart. The amount of time spent in my placements in the field at different school districts has made me more confident in entering the education profession.”

BASKING IN THE EXPERIENCE
MOHAMED “ZOAL” AWAD ’27, sport and recreation management major from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
When it was time to find the right school for him, Mohamed “Zoal” Awad wanted a college where he could continue playing soccer, where there was a strong sense of community, and where he could earn a degree that would command respect.
While he chose Pitt-Bradford, he originally planned on transferring to the Pitt campus in Pittsburgh after the first few years. That plan quickly went away, however, once he experienced everything Pitt-Bradford had to offer and knowing that his degree would have the Pitt name on it.
“Having the opportunity to earn a degree of such renowned appreciation and value in the academic world, from the University of Pittsburgh, is huge. It’ll make future employers take notice and have confidence in my abilities and in the quality of education I’ve received.”

IMPACTING HER WORLD
MEGHAN KAPP ’25, exercise science major from Erie, Pa. Pitt-Bradford softball player and exercise science major Meghan Kapp’s experience as a student-athlete has impacted her in more ways than one might expect. The bonds and friendships she’s formed as part of the team will stay with her forever.
But the spirit, pride, and enthusiasm she’s shared with the broader Bradford community as a member of the Panthers softball team have been just as meaningful.
“The UPB softball team often helps out in the community by doing things like running clinics for CARE for Children, an organization that helps children with special needs. We also walk in the Christmas parade. Watching these kids get so excited and having the time of their lives is extremely rewarding.”
