If the City of Portland public school districts (Portland Public, Parkrose, David Douglas, Reynolds, and Centennial) are closed because of weather conditions, PP&R classes and youth basketball in those school districts may be canceled. We recommend that you check in with your community centers for the latest information about individual registered programs and activities. Some recreation programs may run as conditions and instructor availability allow. Decisions to operate on a specific site basis are made when it is determined that all programs may operate safely. Call the specific PP&R facility for information and opening/closing times. If inclement weather is forecast on weekends or holidays, call the PP&R facility or program for operating hours and activity cancellations. Updates to schedules will also be made on our website (portlandparks.org) and our Facebook pages.

Bowling For Fun

Senior / Adaptive Swim

age 10 - adult

Come join us for Senior/Adaptive Swim! You can use our warm water pool to swim laps, do your own exercises, walk with or against the current channel and use the whirl pool spa. It’s a great time to meet others and have a quiet time to exercise. All adults and seniors are welcome with paid admission. 1 Lane Leisure Pool. Pool supporting multiple programs. Have fun with your friends while knocking down pins. Beginners to advanced bowlers are welcome. Bring $6 for one game or $12 for two. To accommodate blowers who wish to play every week and don’t want to hassle with bringing money each time, we offer a 20game punch card for $120, contact AIR 503-823-2883. Shoes are included in the price. Pre-Registration in not required. Adaptive bowling equipment is available. Have fun dancing to a DJ or a band. Socialize with friends, both new and old. Refreshments are provided. Cost for Participants is $7. Facility staff and parents get in free, but donations are kindly accepted to help with the cost. Group and Foster home staff must stay to assist their participants in the dance unless prior arrangements have been made with AIR by calling 503-823-2883. Due to the large number of participants who attend the dance, AIR staff are only able to supervise participants who are in the auditorium, social room, or hallway of the center. TEEN DAILY DESTINATIONS Daily destination trips explore different activities and locations around the Portland/ Metro area. You can register for one or all of these trips, whatever you like! NO additional money is needed for most trips, those requiring additional money will be marked in the description. Participants must be able to stay with the group and follow directions out in public. What to bring or the trip: water, sack lunch, and a draw string bag. These trips are accessible unless noted in the description.

Exploring Franz Bakery and Bob’s Red Mill

Spend the morning with new and old friends exploring Franz Bakery, seeing how the bread is made. Enjoy the aroma as the bread bakes at this local family owned bakery. After lunch we will head on over to Bob's Red Mill to see how the grain is processed. We will be walking up and down stairs. This is a non-accessible trip. Dates March 26 Course 1099521

Exploring Seaside

Spend the day exploring the Oregon Coast. Weather permitting, we will be on the beach enjoying the sun, checking out the shops, or strolling the accessible boardwalk. Enjoy the view of the Pacific Ocean. Bring a sack lunch and spending money for souvenirs. If time we will stop for an ice cream before the trip home. This is an accessible trip. Bonneville Dam and Fish Hatchery

Today's adventure is a trip to the Washington side of Bonneville Dam and the Fish Hatchery! We will tour behind the scenes to watch for any salmon swimming upstream. After lunch we will go back to Oregon and tour around the fish hatchery to see how many different types of fish we can see. Bring a sack lunch, water bottle, draw string bag and a light jacket. Self Defense

This class is designed for people with disabilities. This instructor has developed the program and worked for the Portland Police Department teaching Self-defense. OMSI – King Tut

Discover and explore all treasures from the tomb of King Tut. This exhibit opens a fascinating world of the pharaohs through many interactive activities & movies. We will start our journey with an 8-minute movie, followed by a 15-minute experience displaying the chambers that are reconstructed from how they found them in 1922. Then we are off to a 40-minute movie on Natural Parks within America. Bring $15 for lunch at the Theory Café and money if you want to shop at the OMSI store. I have worked for parks for the past 15 years, either with Senior Recreation or Adaptive & Inclusive Recreation. I have been in this field working with people with disabilities for over 35 years! In my leisure time I like spending time with my kids and grandbaby, traveling with my hubby and doing crafts.

I started working with PP&R – Senior Center Project, part time in May of 2005. April 2015, I became the Coordinator l of the Senior Center Project. I love camping, traveling and vacations with my family.

It has been about six months since I started working for PP&R. My favorite aspect of the job is supporting the amazing programs and activities made available for individuals of our community. I enjoy going to Timbers games, hiking with my dog, and stand up paddleboarding the lakes and rivers of the Pacific Northwest.

I joined PP&R about four years ago, supporting in the Inclusion Services Program. I enjoy the opportunity to support families and get to know the communities around Portland. In my free time, I love playing music, spending time in the Gorge and petting all the dogs I can find.
