So, based on our livedexperiences, I came up with these following reflections regarding the Significance of Christmas

God’s Promise was Fulfilled!

We all know that our God cannot lie based on Titus 1:2 “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began”.

Many verses in the old testaments that said about the prophecy of coming of Jesus Christ through a virgin. With this, we can have an assurance that whatever God told us a long time ago were all true and shall happen on His perfect time.

We are Blessed to Bless!

God made himself an example for generosity.

Imagine, He gave us His only begotten Son to save us from darkness. This is the logic behind 14th month pay or the well-known Christmas bonus given by employers because they believe that this season is a time to give and bless more whether you are a believer of this faith or not. Family Time and Reunions!

Both of us are working parents. Our schedules are jam-packed and most of the times cannot meet both ends during regular days. We mostly bond with our kids at night as we arrived from work and during weekends.

Holiday Season is the best time to have family bonding as our kids also have Christmas break from their schooling. All are available and free!

We plan our holiday destinations and make most out of it to enjoy these moments to be cherished in a lifetime. Christmas brings families and relatives together too, perhaps from far away and provides a time to reconnect during family reunions.

The Reason for Season!

With all these hypes for this holiday season like shopping, travelling, dining, partying, giftgiving and other activities, let us not forget the true reason why we are celebrating this season, no other than Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! Let’s emulate His characteristics as forgiving, loving, obedient and faithful son of God. May we all realize that all materials things in this world shall wither away but the words of God shall be forever. Let us all try to partake in the Christian mission to live a Christ-like life for us to be with our Creator in heaven, singing songs of praise together with the angels, saints and our loved ones forever!

ECHOES OF MEMORY

In the cycle of time, a cherished chapter unfolds, one that holds a special place in the heart of a child.

"In ordinary life, we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich," said Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and those words resonate with the story of a humble

These were the days before the era of social media and the ever-present camera lens. It was a time when Christmas was pure and untouched by the constant documentation of our lives. It was a time when Christmas was simply Christmas.

Our parents would remind us that Mang Tita's gifts were reserved for those who had attended the morning mass, but the fear of missing out was a heavy weight on our young hearts. After all, it was just once

and heartwarming tradition.

Back then, I knew little about the woman behind the wheel. I was a child from the barrio, a world away from the complexities of adulthood. It was not until my elementary school days that I began to recognize her a little better, and it was with deep sadness that I learned that the tradition had stopped.

Yet, those days of my childhood remain engraved in my heart as one of my most

I must have been around six or seven, the mist of time making the details hazy, but the essence of those moments remains vivid. Every 25th of December, just after the 8:00 AM mass, the children of our neighborhood would assemble along the roadside, our faces lit with anticipation, awaiting the arrival of our very own "Santa Claus". But our Santa was unlike the one in the stories; she didn't ride a sleigh, don a red-and-white suit, or sport a long, white beard and a Santa cap. Ours was a "woman," and her trusty steed was a vehicle lovingly referred to as a "panel" because, in those days, everything with four wheels was a “panel”.

We, the children, lined the street, our hearts brimming with excitement, all in pursuit of the simple joys of childhood – candies, lollipops, biscuits, and anything sweet. At the mere glimpse of the white panel, a chorus of voices would erupt, declaring, "Here comes our Santa!" And with boundless enthusiasm, we would rush forward to accept the simplest yet most cherished gifts of those days. Her name was Crestita Escarro-Despi, but to us, she was “Mang Tita”, the woman-Santa Claus. As far back as my childhood memories can stretch, she was the one who marked the beginning of our Christmas mornings.

Even now, the desire to continue this tradition lingers, whether it is documented or not.

While I may not possess much, I am an average worker who began from humble beginnings, striving each day to earn a living and steadily inching closer to my dreams. Yet, the desire to give back has always remained a burning passion within me. Upon reflection, I have come to understand that the childhood gifts I received from "Mang Tita" left an indelible mark. Her kindness and generosity imprinted in me a desire to emulate her, to share the joy of receiving something from a stranger, randomly, during the most wonderful time of the year.

This untold story has been a cherished secret, held deep within. I often wonder how many from our generation hold these precious memories close. The "panel," I believe, once traveled through our town, reaching even the distant barrios, sowing the seeds of a beautiful gift-giving tradition.

I wish for the opportunity to say a heartfelt "thank you" to the one who filled our young hearts with warmth and joy. Today, with a heart full of emotion, I share the story that is deeply ingrained in my very soul. It stands as proof of the lasting and heartfelt impact of small acts of kindness that touch the hearts of those lucky enough to receive them.

In this season of yuletide celebration, I hope for the presence of more "Mang Titas" among us, individuals who will ignite the joy of the Bantayanon children once more. It is a wish from the heart, a call for the spirit of giving to continue, for gratitude to shine, and for the warmth of simple acts of kindness to illuminate the world, just as it did in those memorable Christmases of our youth.

Christmas Countdown “Christmas is a respite for a year filled with ineluctable challenges.”

From 100 days through Christmas, I start to count as the so-called ber months approach. It excites my soul whenever I hear carols played in every house I pass by, and my heart beats as the cold breeze dubs on my skin. I smell a delightful respite after a year filled with challenges.

Christmas is beyond the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th; it’s a rest for all of us that should be spent jovially with our loved ones. Whatever you faced and surpassed, Christmas always comes for you and has the power to tie families together despite the past.

People have different ways of celebrating this biggest event of the year. Some go out of town and some just stay in town; some throw parties and some just sleep past 12 a.m.; some eat together and some eat alone; some are at home and some are abroad. Whatever ways matter, as long as we are happy. The gist of Christmas is what we define it ourselves as; for me, tis the season to be jolly with the family.

Customarily, by this time, we have our rice containers filled already as a common superstition for prosperous years ahead. My parents have already decluttered the house while I decked the halls and trimmed the tree.

I grew up with the mindset that riches could only afford a Christmas tree, literally. Since I was a child, I was always wishing for a Christmas tree as soon as I saw one. Maybe we could have one for Christmas, but we could not afford it. It is just that there is something about it that I genuinely love and that boosts the spirit of Christmas, and so I would love to put gifts beneath it. To my liking, I cut down a small tree, too sad that it was not the shape I was looking for that I would use to create a Christmas tree. I put it inside a flower vase and started adorning it with Christmas decorations.

Gladly, it turned out to be the best Christmas tree I have had.

Likewise, I have known that Christmas is about happiness and joy, both incomparable feelings for me, that go with every effort that you put in. A Christmas tree symbolizes a tree of life for all. Hence, we should all forget the circumstances and whatever holds us back for once and spread love, as the song reminds us.

Love one another for the sake of one another. I just did what could make me happy. Eat, drink, and be merry!

Santa Claus on Christmas Eve The excitement is brimming. I collected candies and coins that I put in the old socks and hung them on the wall that I would check the other day. I was wishing for Santa Claus to pour gifts.

Have you ever seen Santa Claus, and what did you receive? That plump, white-bearded, redsuited, and jolly old man never really went to my bed all my life. My socks were still the same, and neither were gifts. But if you are really going to ask me, Santa has already bestowed upon me the presents I needed in my life. Gifts that are neither in the form of toys nor whatever I desire, but in the form of my loved ones. Their presence completes me, their smile cheers and affects me in the greatest ways, and their love protects me.

Blessed are we to have them on the best days of our lives and on Christmas evening.

10 seconds till Christmas!

“10, 9, 8, 7,... Merry Christmas, ho, ho, ho! " As the clock chimed 12:00 at midnight, I looked up in the sky, which is my favorite time to talk into space about my desires in life that I both have and have not fulfilled during the year. Regrets and pain suffered, happiness for which I was grateful, and the emotions and feelings I released into the sky. I realized that: 10 seconds just flew by. For thinking of hurting others and causing pain to others.

10 seconds just flew by. To let your pride and ego stop you from talking to your parents and families, whom you’ve not talked to for months 10 seconds just flew by. To not say, “I love you” to the people you care about and love most.

10 seconds just flew by. To keep on lying about what you feel.

10 seconds just flew by. For not doing your best and doing the things that make you happy.

10 seconds just flew by. To not thank your teacher for teaching and trusting you when no one did.

10 seconds just flew by. For being selfish, envious, and unhappy with others’ success.

10 seconds just flew by. To be ungrateful for not having what you want.

10 seconds just flew by. For torturing and taking others’ lives.

10 seconds just flew by. Too fast to capture the moment, and too fast to realize that we have another milestone in our lives.

Another feat to celebrate for overcoming the harsh reality head-on and for making this far again!

The more the merrier!

Christmas reminds us that a year should always end happily. The uphill battle has gone, and a new year is about to start.

Collect all the happy memories and bury all the problems so that you can move forward. It’s a year to enjoy life, spend it with the people you love, and think positively. Christmas is no ordinary day, Christmastime is the best time to forget the problems, create memories, and spread love and peace.

HO-HO-HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

By Dean Hill Delos Santos Cristobal “Ho-ho-ho, Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!”.

Indeed, a very famous line echoing in our ears as soon as Christmas time is about to arrive and exactly on the 25th of December each year. This seems to be a melody repeatedly playing and soothing our soul with excitement and reenergizing our spirit.

Christmas, the most awaited season many are waiting for. A season of joy that many enjoy.

Children are jumping and smiling receiving their toys. Families reunite as they celebrate the birth of a baby boy. It is for everyone.

People wear their sweetest smiles as they hear the carols everywhere. Lanterns amaze our naked eyes teasing us with its sparkling lights dancing up there. Those are swaying in the air and colorful lights remind us that life is something to delight.

Christmas trees of different heights with flashing lights entertain our eyes day and night. Some are cute while others are of towering heights. Boxes of gifts beneath are some things children cannot resist to wish to receive. I may say, we could hardly deny a smile and give a glance even at once on those stuffs that are giving us a chance. A chance to be us, reminisce the past and enjoy everything at hand while it lasts. We cannot hold our emotions of happiness and youthfulness. We grow every year but our hearts remain as young as the baby Boy who saved the world. It is Christ, our Savior.

Christmas yearly comes every 25th of December, a special day we always remember. It is a joyful one.

People from places and all walks of life reunite and celebrate. It is a time that almost everyone pauses for a while and maximizes the time. Homecomings are almost everywhere. Reunions are one among families’ favorite every year. Cards, presents, surprises, festive food, parties, exchange gifts and other ways to enjoy the time are at here. Nothing against those as these are part of how we show care and love to others especially our families, friends, and loved ones.

But, what really is Christmas? How significant is it?

Christmas is…the birth of our Savior. A symbol of faith, hope, and love. Absolutely – it is faith, hope, and love. It is for everyone.

For all, regardless of where we are living either in great houses, streets, or under bridges. It is for everybody to rejoice in Christ’s birth.

Christmas is a reminder of the word forgiveness and humility. We have various ways of celebrating it but the real essence is to recall how blessed we are being saved by Jesus Christ. It is something that should open and reopen our eyes to its true significance, that love is for everyone sinner or not, it is for everyone. It recalls our spirit to forgive without holding back. It calls for our innate character to be kind and welcoming. It reminds us that there is always hope in anything and Faith in God is everything.

Christmas is a great celebration but may be enjoyed in simple expressions. No gift is better than true love, a genuine smile, an open heart, deeper wisdom, and a huge understanding.

This Christmas and for the coming years, let us add more attention to its significance. Its true essence. Pray to God and thank Him for bestowing us blessings. Help others especially those struggling on the streets. We can give smiles and let others smile. Material gifts are good and valuable and we should be grateful as this was given the full effort by the person but if not possible, other than that, we can gift someone by spending a quality time.

Celebrate Christmas. Celebrate the birth of Christ. Let us be reminded of how blessed we are for He has saved us.

Let us enjoy the moment by sharing love and kindness with everyone not just at Christmas time but every time and to everyone.

SIGNIFICANCE OF CHRISTMAS

Christmas is here again! It's the time of the year when people get so excited! They start buying small and big gifts to exchange with their families and friends. People start planning for gatherings and places to spend their Christmas night. They start decorating their homes with lots of glittering Christmas decorations and lights that brighten their surroundings at night. What to wear on this day!

They even spend their savings on the sumptuous food they will serve for this night. This is when businesses thrive, and sales are up. But is this what the Christmas season is for?

What does this day really mean? Come to think about it…

Is this the day when Christ was born in Bethlehem? Is this what God promised us? And what does this signify? This signifies the fulfillment of His promise of salvation…peace…sacrifice… hope…mercy.

He gave his Son to save us from our sins and have peace on earth. Do we have to celebrate this? Of course, we should! But is this what the Christmas season is for?

He had sacrificed his own Son for the hope of mankind! Do we have to celebrate this? Of course, we should! But should it be this way?

People forget that sometimes a simple celebration and meal with the family will mean more than extravagant dishes put on the table. It is the bonding and the harmonious relationship among members of the family that counts most. Well-saved money should be spent on more important matters, not on a whim. People forget that sometimes giving rather than receiving will give hope to the poor. Wearing beautiful and expensive dresses will not make us more beautiful than we already are because what counts most is inner beauty.

The Spirit of Christmas…that is what's important! People should be one with selfless thoughts… giving rather than receiving… thinking of others and not just ourselves….forgiveness rather than resentment and vengeance…, and showing kindness and gentleness to others rather than cruelty and harshness. Because God shows us His mercy by giving us His own Son!

Festival of Happiness DR. SUDHA DIXIT

Centuries before Jesus was born, early Europeans celebrated light and birth in the darkness of winter.

We light lamps when it is pitch dark, not only because we need light to be able to see the space or objects around us but also because we want to create awareness that we need not be afraid of the dark. We, Indians celebrate Deepavali, meaning ‘array of lamps’ on the moonless night. We do not dread the total absence of light – the pitch darkness; we celebrate it. We light umpteen lamps that vie with the brightest twinkling stars up above our head in the sky. While the absence of the moon makes the stars shine gloriously in the sky; we decorate the Earth by lighting lamps in every corner of our homes.

Citizens of the world, Europeans, Americans, Asians, and people of all other countries, celebrate Winter and darkness by making it bright and festive.

Human beings, by nature, are gregarious and funloving. They do not like to live in isolation. Hence, they have formed a society. Family is the smallest form of society. They like to socialize with likeminded and like-hearted people. Besides family, they keep a select group of friends. At the same time, they keep interacting with the larger section of people. Thus, creating a bondage with all human beings. All these groups, be it the family, circle of friends, or big institutions, need to have some protocol or discipline.

One cannot go dictating to anyone to follow a certain code of conduct. People do not like to listen to sermons.

So, from earlier times, wise people invented religion.

Religion acts like opium. On one hand, it has a daunting effect against wrongdoing, on the other hand, it charms people’s imagination through its myths and stories. Every country and every tribe has its own myths and fables. The good thing about all this is that it serves a positive purpose. The story of Jesus inspires people to follow goodness. His sacrifice tells people how unselfishness should be the goal of life. When we celebrate Christmas, we try to remember a messenger of God who died for the sins of mankind.

We hear many tales of virtues, admire them, and forget them. We read inspirational books. We try to absorb their essence; then close the book and get busy in our day-to-day routine. But December 25th is a day of remembrance. We rejoice the birth of a Messiah. We think of Mary, a mother who lost her only child for the welfare of humanity, held him in her lap, and did not cry. We need to remember such angels. We should cherish their memories. The significance of such a celebration is that it keeps us motivated all the time; lest we forget a very important message and lesson taught to us.

As the year runs on its last lap, the world gears up for yuletide and the holiday season to commemorate the birth of Lord Christ.

As we welcome the King in the midst of darkness, sorrow is gone, and shadows dissipate.

Incarnation of God ushers goodwill and salvation.

Brotherhood reigns, sleeping men of diverse creeds clasp hands in His name. Mankind unites with an earnest heart. Greed and malice vanish in Divine grace.

Christmas is above love and only love. Jesus' birth sets us free. Christmas signifies the hymn of mercy, the hymn of charity. Christmas liberates us from the narrow boundaries of the mind. It teaches forgiveness to sinners, it preaches hate sin, not the sinners. Christmas entails discovering humanity and changing the world in solidarity.

Christ preaches blessed are the merciful, they are given the opportunity to serve with an open heart.

Christmas awakens our souls and knocks on the door of our minds and hearts and reminds us humans the essence of being human. It gives strength to the mind and the power of selfsacrifice.

The spirit of giving and sharing echoes in boundless love. Peace and goodwill resonate in hearts. Gratitude extends beyond religion, caste, creed and race. Celebration and peace spill magic on holy night.

Christmas renews hope, love, and joy. Strikes the chords of the heart softly and gently so that we may not die while we are alive as we hold his arm to be guided. Amidst carols, gifts, and lights every soul is filled with peace on earth.

The essence of Christmas has crossed the boundaries, valleys, oceans of this weary planet.

The significance of Christmas is both cultural and spiritual. Holy days remind us that, "God is love and love is God". Children hang stockings by the fireplace to receive gifts from Santa Claus. He is the Saviour of the world who is referred to as 'Emmanuel' which means, 'God is with us!' He is believed to be the Messiah thus is the Christ, the anointed one.

Some theologians narrated that Jesus Christ was born in the month of October but the Christian faith has unanimously scheduled this exceptional event which marks the birth of Jesus Christ on the 25th of December, running through the week thereby ending on the last day of the month to usher in an incoming year. Christmas therefore is an epochal event whose aura of euphoria cuts across all the families of the world.

Christmas without doubt is the most joyful period of the year in human society. It is a moment generality of people in the world are openly excited about an episode in the life of Christ. This is for the fact that both children and adults are fond of expressing the highest level of excitement in mood and in manners for their participation in an event. Their expressions of excitement are motivated by factors such as: being alive from January to December, having good health at the moment to join others in this global celebration, availability of abundance of food and drinks, as well as to be in the company of friends and relations at the moment.

Notably, seventy five percent of people in the world are excessively happy during Christmas hence it is the most joyful moment being noted from the social habit of humanity in modern days existence. That is why you can hear the aura of excitement in children and in adults as they joyously cheer up each other in streets, with the slogan: Happyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, Christmas!

Remarkably, the Christmas event is usually preceded by mass movement of persons from place to place, all over the world. It is noted from the years back as people will be moving from place to place in preparation for its festive fanfares. People travelled along with family members, as well as with their goods for the celebration of Christmas. Some are travelling from the cities to their respective hometowns in the countryside while others are travelling from the rural areas to the cities to spend this happy holiday with friends and relations. Christmas therefore is an event that promote the exchange of travelling from cities to the villages, and from villages to the cities, all over the world.

Christmas is the only event that involves the travelling of persons from place to place in all the families of the earth. It is certain that somebody must travel from somewhere to somewhere because of Christmas in every community, in the world.

One of the special features of Christmas is that it is a period of jollification for all in society. This is noted from the preparations that take place in every human family, all over the world.

Both children and adults are involved in one way or the other in preparing for the festivity of Christmas. While the children are concerned with beautification of their homes and bodies, the adults are working towards the success of Christmas in terms of provision of edible items for the members of their respective families. In some remote villages, Christmas is the only time some families are privileged to have rice and stew as their meal.

Every family will save money to buy enough food stuff to cover the week of Christmas so that they will not be left out when others are celebrating joyfully. Meal will be served to friends, relations and neighbours thus all the families are involved in cheering up the euphoria of Christmas together, joyously in our villages. No one is exempted from the jollification in Christmas in human society.

No single social event is as rich as Christmas in society as varieties of goods arrived every human settlement in the world. Most noticeable of such items for Christmas jollification are: spices, food stuff and clothing materials. The edible category is replete with items such as beans, garri, rice, yam, cocoyam and plantains. Tasteful and tangible fishes of quality will be available for many households in the villages. Cow and goat meat, chickens, snails, lobsters and prawns will be part of the delicious dishes for jollification during the Christmas festivity.

That is why one can easily notice the flooding in of goods from the cities to all the communities in the world. About hundred live goats will arrive my village for slaughtering and for preparation of meals during Christmas.

Another point of significance with regard to Christmas is that its moment of celebration is unanimously scheduled to take place at the ending of the year. People have been toiling throughout the year, beginning from January till December. At then, everybody is almost tired of their respective involvements in activities of life for the year hence needs a break. So the timing of Christmas becomes universally acceptable as it is usually marked when both government and individual programmes and activities are coming to an end for the year. This made the celebration of Christmas to be a general moment of relaxation for human persons thus remains a welcome development in minds of the people.

Christmas being the most colourful social event in society is also the most successful social event as its moment offers a lot of comfort to the human mind. It serves as a universal moment of beautification, jollification, celebration and relaxation which remains the most essential needs of man's social life in the universe.

Christmas therefore is significant to man in the sense that it marks an annual moment of merrymaking to everybody in society. Man and his affairs of life are affected in one way or the other by the festivity of Christmas in human society.

Growing up, I discovered an unquenchable love for books and the wonderful worlds they held within their pages. I read voraciously, as if every book held the secret to unlocking the universe. It was a serendipitous love affair that eventually led me to becoming a writer - a journey that I cherish to this day.

My love for reading was not simply a casual interest; it was an insatiable hunger for stories, knowledge, and inspiration.

As I devoured book after book, I found myself fascinated by the power of words to transport me to new places, to stir my emotions, and to ignite my imagination. The written word became my sanctuary, a place where I could lose myself in the magic of storytelling.

I often found myself lost in the labyrinth of fiction, captivated by the artistry of the writers who crafted these enchanting narratives. It was through these experiences that I began to nurture a desire to create my own stories, to give life to characters and worlds that I could share with others. Writing began to beckon me, whispering promises of untold adventures waiting to be woven into existence.

With each book I read, I discovered new perspectives, voices, and styles, and I embraced them eagerly, knowing that they were shaping me into the writer I was destined to be. Books became my mentors, my companions, and my solace. I paid close attention to the craftsmanship of the authors, studying their techniques and absorbing their lessons like a devoted apprentice.

Not everyone is fortunate to be a natural-born reader, and I count myself blessed to have been inherently drawn to the written word. For me, books were not just stories; they were gateways to new worlds and possibilities. It wasn't long before I found myself pouring my thoughts and dreams onto paper, uncovering my own voice and style as a writer.

It was a gradual process, fueled by the love and passion that grew within me with every page turned. The act of writing felt like a natural extension of my love for books - a way to contribute to the literary tapestry that had shaped my identity and aspirations.

Today, as a writer, I look back on my journey and recognize the profound impact of my serendipitous love affair with books. BALANCED WELLBy Lilibeth C. Calanoga BEING The escalating number of suicides and suicidal attempts among public school learners in the country is quite a pressing and alarming issue in the Department of Education to date. Thus, be accorded with immediate attention or better with discerned urgency.

The Department of Education revealed in a Senate public hearing on January 2023 that from the 28 million student population in 2021, 404 learners committed suicide, 2, 147 learners had tried taking their lives and around 775,962 appealed for guidance counseling. As these learners, having been locked at home due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, are now back to school, unknowingly they keep in them some social, emotional, and physical problems that may have been caused by varying factors.

These may cause them emotional distress and anxiety which are hard to understand and no one can tell the right treatment. This would timely call to promote and push on Senate Bill No. 379, Basic Education Mental Health and WellBeing Promotion Act to strengthen the promotion of mental health services and programs among public schools.

As the bill mandates the institutionalization of Mental Health and Well-being Centers among public schools, this will help normalize the stigma of learners seeking guidance counseling when they are socially, physically, and emotionally disturbed. Since the shortage of guidance counselors is another great problem in the department, the bill also includes the hiring and deployment of mental health professionals prescribing the increased of guidance associates. This will probably ensure a sufficient number if not increased in number of guidance counselors and not just guidance advocates who can properly handle learners with mental health problems. It will foster the formulation of the best and most feasible mental health responses among learners suffering from such ordeals.

Though teachers are acting as immediate guidance counselors in the classrooms, they do not necessarily know the right approaches to cater the special needs of these learners. And once not handled well may lead to increased trauma, negligence to open up their problems and worst, risking their lives as the easiest solution to escape their problems.

And while we wait for such bill to succeed and be implemented, may we all be responsible in understanding the behaviors of our learners. Teachers should build a strong partnership with parents to better understand the attitudes and very nature of every learner. They must be vigilant on the shift of moods and conduct of every learner to prevent untoward situations.

We cannot afford to risk the lives of these precious learners or let them suffer that much anymore. So, have a sense of commitment to safeguard their well-being.

Let’s act as one great community to combat mental illnesses and promote the socio-emotional development of every learner. Help them achieve a balanced well-being.

In the hallowed halls of learning's domain, A symphony of students begins its refrain, Their behavior, a melody, a vibrant strain, A chorus of character that shall remain.

In the dance of respect, they take the lead, Politeness and courtesy, their noble creed, A tapestry woven with words that we need, In harmony, their spirits intercede.

In the spotlight of challenges, they sway, With resilience and grace, they find their way, Their attitudes shining like the light of day, They conquer hurdles, come what may.

In the duet of empathy, they embrace, Understanding each other with a warm embrace, A chorus of kindness, a tender solace, In compassion's arms, they find their place.

With discipline's rhythm, they march on, Time management and focus, their dawn, In dedication, their potential is drawn, A symphony of diligence, they spawn.

In the chorus of unity, they unite, Embracing diversity with hearts so bright, In harmony, they stand as one, a sight, Together, they create a powerful might.

In the finale of growth, they shall shine, Guided by values, their paths align, With integrity's essence, they intertwine, The future's virtuosos, so divine.

Most celebrated occasion Marites Ritumalta Christmas is celebrated as a religious festival by Christians to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. The religious significance of Christmas is what drives its celebration in many countries, as people come together to celebrate their faith and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

Christmas is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated festivals around the world, with its roots deeply embedded in Christian tradition.

While the exact number of countries that celebrate Christmas is subjective, as some may celebrate it in a more subdued manner than others, it is safe to say that Christmas is celebrated in a vast majority of countries across the globe. In this essay, we will explore why Christmas is celebrated in so many countries and provide some examples of how it is celebrated in different parts of the world.

Firstly, Christianity is one of the largest religions in the world, with over 2.4 billion followers as of 2021 (Pew Research Center, 2021). This means that a significant portion of the world's population identifies as Christian, and as a result, Christmas holds a special place in their hearts.

Secondly, Christmas has become a cultural phenomenon that transcends religious boundaries. In many countries, Christmas has become a secular festival that is celebrated by people of all religions and backgrounds. The commercialization of Christmas has played a significant role in this transformation. Christmas has become synonymous with gift-giving, decorations, and festive cheer, which has led to its widespread adoption as a cultural festival.

Thirdly, globalization has contributed significantly to the spread of Christmas celebrations around the world.

As people from different cultures and backgrounds come into contact with each other, they adopt new traditions and festivals.

This has led to the spread of Christmas celebrations to countries that were previously unfamiliar with the festival. For example, in recent years, Christmas has gained popularity in countries like China and South Korea due to increased exposure to Western culture (BBC News, 2018).

Now let us explore how Christmas is celebrated in different parts of the world: 1) Europe: Europe is widely regarded as the birthplace of Christmas celebrations. In many European countries like Germany, Austria, and Poland, Christmas markets are set up during Advent season (the four weeks leading up to Christmas).

These markets offer traditional food and drinks like mulled wine (Glühwein), gingerbread cookies (Lebkuchen), and roasted almonds (Marzipan). In Scandinavian countries like Norway and Sweden, traditional dishes like lutefisk (fermented fish) and glögg (mulled wine) are served during Christmas dinner. In Italy, Befana (an old woman who brings gifts to children) replaces Santa Claus as the giftgiver on Epiphany (January 6th).

2) North America: In Canada and the United States, Christmas celebrations are heavily influenced by British and American traditions. Decorating houses with lights and ornaments is a popular tradition during Christmas time. Santa Claus is an integral part of Christmas celebrations in North America, with children leaving out cookies and milk for Santa on Christmas Eve. In Mexico, Las Posadas (a reenactment of Mary and Joseph's search for lodging) is celebrated during Advent season.

3) South America: In South America, Christmas celebrations are heavily influenced by Spanish traditions. Midnight Mass on December 24th is a popular tradition in many South American countries like Peru and Chile. In Brazil, it is traditional to eat bacalhau (dried salted codfish) during Christmas dinner.

In Colombia, it is traditional to eat buñuelos de yuca (fried yuca balls) during Christmas dinner.

4) Africa: While Christianity is not as widespread in Africa as it is in other parts of the world, Christmas celebrations are still popular in many African countries like Nigeria and Kenya. In Nigeria, it is traditional to eat jollof rice (a spicy rice dish) during Christmas dinner. In Kenya, it is traditional to eat ugali (a maize porridge) during Christmas dinner.

5) Asia: While Christianity is not as widespread in Asia as it is in other parts of the world, Christmas celebrations are still popular in some Asian countries like Philippines and South Korea. In Philippines, Simbang Gabi (nine Masses leading up to Christmas Eve) is a popular tradition during Advent season. In South Korea, it is traditional to eat ojingeo bbang (star-shaped bread filled with sweet red bean paste) during Christmas dinner.

In conclusion, there are numerous reasons why so many countries celebrate Christmas today - religious significance, cultural adoption, globalization - but what remains constant across all these reasons is that people come together during this time to celebrate joyously and spread cheer around them. Whether it's through religious ceremonies or secular traditions or both, there's no denying that
