by General Manager of Iraq, Alberto Pittaluga, Al Faris are running in full capacity with multiple heavy transport, heavy lifting and skidding jobs in the civil, oil & gas, and power generation Industries with two current projects within the petrochemical industry.

In conjunction with local government authorities and the support from the Iraqi army force, Al Faris has transported large items throughout Iraq in 2021 particularly in the Basra province including Khor Al Zubair and Al Qurna.

Recently, the UAE-based company transported approximately 96 components of up to 150t for a natural gas liquids plant.

Multiple number of convoys with prime movers and hydraulic trailers were used for the transport.

In another project, Al Faris transported and installed various components including KO drums and flare stacks ranging from 25t to 78t for the West Qurna 1 oil field in Basra, Iraq.

RENAULT TRUCKS DELIVERS 10 UNITS OF K 380 P6X4 CONCRETE MIXERS well as 9 CBM transit Concrete Mixers, are set to optimise Sijimix’s local operations thanks to the K range’s functionality and fuel efficiency.

Renault Trucks announced the brand’s first deal with Sijimix, one of the United Arab Emirates’ leading ready-mix concrete suppliers, to supply a total of ten new K 380 trucks, which will be used to transport concrete across the eastern UAE. NEW NC-B 12-70 DEMONSTRATES ITS STRENGTH IN SAUDI ARABIA With its maximum jib length of 70 metres and a lifting capacity of up to 12 tonnes, the NC-B 12-70 is reliable, economic and safe in its work. UD TRUCKS REPORTS EXCEPTIONAL GROWTH ACROSS THE MEENA REGION IN 2021 UD Trucks has announced sales growth in the MEENA (Middle East, East and North Africa) region of approximately 30 percent in 2021, continuing an upwards trend for the brand, which had experienced 6 percent growth in the previous year.

The Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer recorded an increase in sales in most markets, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan and a number of countries in East Africa.

UD Trucks’ flagship market, Bahrain, saw an increase of around 40 percent, reinforcing the brand’s number one status in the country. The trucks brand also saw an increase in sales by about 30 percent in Qatar. Sales also grew in Saudi Arabia, which is UD Trucks’ biggest market by volume, by 24 percent.

The United Arab Emirates, which hosted the regional launch of the brand’s Euro 5 models, registered an increase of 22 percent compared to 2020.

Outside the Middle East, UD Trucks earned positive traction in Pakistan where it enjoyed an impressive year. Similarly, the brand registered significant growth in East Africa in 2021, where a number of strategic deals for both heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks were signed off, despite the challenging business climate.

The growth came as a result of a fantastic collaboration and coordinated effort by UD Trucks and its partners throughout the region and their joint focus on supporting UD customers.

MAMMOET AND AMS SUPPORT CONSTRUCTION OF DUBAI’S NEXT ICONIC LANDMARK The Infinity bridge is 300m long, 22m wide and sits 15.5m high above the water level. Its infinity arch rises higher; some 42m above the creek. As a result of this, the mid bridge segments would require tandem lifts by two cranes positioned on opposite banks of the creek and with a working radius of 140m.

These tandem lifts were performed with the CC-8800-1 handling most of the weight and could position segments on the opposite side of the bridge, thanks to its main boom length and a large lifting radius.

Built by BESIX Construct LLC, a Middle Eastern subsidiary of a Belgian company BESIX, the Infinity Bridge (formerly Al Shindagha Bridge) is distinguished by its unique architectural design inspired by the concept of infinity. It is a distinct landmark that promises to be a showcase of Dubai’s architectural advancements worldwide.

40 steel segments of its infinity arch, ranging in weight up to 130t, needed to be installed over the Dubai Creek and above the bridge deck, which could not support a suitably sized crane. Therefore, the installation of the segments could only be performed by cranes operating from the creek’s banks.

To achieve this, crane service providers Mammoet and Aertssen Machinery Services (AMS) teamed up to install the segments, relying on a duo of powerful Demag lattice boom crawler cranes: Aertssen with its CC 3800, positioned at the northern side of the creek and Mammoet with its CC 8800-1, positioned on the southern bank.

The entire operation was completed over a period of six months, with the last piece of the infinity arch installed in May 2021.

“Working in partnership with Aertssen, we provided equipment with sufficient capacity and reach, along with specialist engineering to support the operation of the CC 8800-1 to maximize the overall utilization and its capacity,” said Somnath Bhattacharjee, Crane Operations Manager for Mammoet’s UAE Branch.

The AED 394 million ($105m) Infinity Bridge project is part of Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority’s Shindagha Corridor Improvement project, which covers a 13km-long road network.

The bridge can accommodate 24,000 vehicles per hour in both directions and features a combined three-metre-wide track for pedestrians and cyclists. It is part of the RTA’s relentless efforts to keep pace with the ever-growing Dubai landscape.

The Infinity Bridge opened to traffic on January 16th..

PORT OF BANDIRMA IN TURKEY ORDERS TWO KONECRANES MOBILE HARBOR CRANES Turkish terminal operator Çelebi Bandirma Uluslararasi Limani Isletmeciligi A.S. (Çelebi Port of Bandırma) has ordered two eco-efficient Generation 6 Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor Cranes for their terminal on the coast of the Sea of Marmara, Turkey. The order was booked in November 2021. The cranes will be handed over in July 2022.

Based in Istanbul, Celebi Holding’s seaport management division operates the terminal at the Port of Bandirma, offering a wide range of port services. The two new Generation 6 MHC will serve the port’s upcoming expansion plans, helping the port to increase their bulk handling and improve their management of general cargo and containers.

The two Generation 6 cranes delivered to Çelebi Port of Bandırma will be Konecranes Gottwald ESP.7 Mobile Harbor Cranes, with a working radius of up to 51m and a lifting capacity of 125t. They feature a high tower cab for an excellent view over the working environment and strong lifting

capacity curves for high handling performance. Both cranes are equipped with a fuel-optimized diesel engine and an external power supply. When the cranes are connected to the harbor mains, their overall efficiency will be very high, with no local exhaust emissions and less noise..

FUSO LAUNCHES NEW MEDIUM-DUTY FIGHTER FOR THE GCC MARKETS Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation recently announced the introduction of the new Euro V-compliant medium-duty Fighter truck for GCC markets. With this rollout, both light- and medium-duty segments in the FUSO lineup will be available in the region with Euro V technology.

The new medium-duty Fighter is available in variants ranging from GVWs of 10.4 to 17.1 tons to support a variety of businesses, from consumer goods distribution to construction.

Shipped as a built-up (BU) vehicle from MFTBC’s Kawasaki plant, it pairs a robust, reliable chassis with the 6-cylinder 6M60 engine that provides drivers with torque, agility, and endurance. The vehicle also delivers improved fuel economy with the optimized engine, achieving a 60% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions as well as a 80% reduction in particle emissions.

Already launched in Qatar, the Euro V Fighter will also be introduced to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain within the next few months. The rollout matches the expected implementation of more stringent emissions standards in the

region; Qatar plans to mandate Euro V standards starting with 2023 models. The Euro V-compliant light-duty Canter is also already available in the UAE, Qatar, and Oman.

Countries in the GCC have been shifting quickly to integrate sustainability targets into their national strategies. Last year, Qatar unveiled an action plan to combat climate change, with the aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030.

overnments the world over have seen their fiscal forecasts turned upside down during the past two years, and Kuwait is no exception. What’s more, as it faces what is expected to be its ninth budget deficit in a row, the Gulf country’s economic woes cannot be attributed solely to Covid-19.

“We have seen numerous construction equipment companies go out of business during the past year,” he tells Plant & Equipment. Fortunately for those working at Masaha Global, their employer has managed to avoid a similar fate. While other companies are either downsizing or shutting up shop, Ghazaleh is looking to double the size of his sales team.

Even so, things may be looking up for the Gulf state. In January, Bloomberg reported that Kuwait had forecast a narrower budget deficit for the fiscal year starting 1 April 2022, thanks to buoyant oil prices. The projected deficit of KWD 3.1 billion ($10.3 billion) would represent a reduction of 74.2 percent compared to this year’s estimate of KWD 12.1 billion ($40 billion). While improvements may be gradual, they are improvements nonetheless.

So, what is the secret to this success? How is it possible for one outfit to thrive while others operating in the same sector flounder? The answer is simple, according to Ghazaleh. The breadth of Masaha Global’s offering, coupled with its dual status as both rental supplier and dealer, have served to insulate the company from the effects of the pandemic.

But what is the situation on the ground? How, for example, have equipment suppliers fared amid such a tumultuous market? According to Ala’a Ghazaleh, Equipment Rental Manager at Masaha Global, conditions have been as tough as one might imagine.

“Most of our competitors are suffering but we are not,” he explains. “Why? Because the variety of equipment we supply gives us an advantage. Other companies tend to specialise in one or two categories whereas we can cater to all requirements.”

And Ghazaleh is not exaggerating. As the sole Kuwaiti dealer for five major manufacturers, Masaha Global sells and rents

out Foton commercial vehicles, Skyboom access platforms, Weichai generators, Heli forklifts, and – its biggest brand – SANY heavy equipment.

“Most of our rental competitors have to purchase their equipment in instalments,” Ghazaleh continues. “The units in our fleet come directly from our partners, which is a huge advantage. I’m talking about spare parts availability, breakdown response times, technical support and standby equipment; our ability to react quickly and effectively is extremely important to customers.”

A decade ago, it was a commonly held opinion in the Middle East’s construction sector that Chinese manufacturers supplied cheaper but lower quality machines than their American, European, Korean and Japanese counterparts. However, with the emergence of multibillion-dollar brands such as SANY, the landscape appears to have shifted somewhat.

A major driver behind this trend, according to Ghazaleh, is SANY’s ability to implement improvements rapidly.

“During my career, I have worked with major names such as Doosan, JCB and Caterpillar,” he says. “I would agree that 10 years ago, the standard of Chinese equipment was not comparable. But believe me, those days are over. The machines that SANY manufactures today are just as good as any others on the market. By 2025, I expect SANY will have overtaken its competitors in terms of quality.”

Masaha Global also benefits from the backing of its parent organisation, Fouad Alghanim & Sons Group of Companies – one of the largest outfits of its kind in Kuwait. The multinational boasts a dizzying array of industrial interests aside from construction, including engineering, power, oil and gas, automotive, investment, trading, shipping, aviation, telecoms, hospitality, and real estate.

Thanks to the support of its parent company, Masaha Global has accumulated a fleet of more than 2,400 units since its establishment in 2016 – all of which are 2017 models or newer. And while the firm is licensed to sell the full range of its partner brands’ products, Ghazaleh estimates that upwards of 90 percent of its business comes from rental activities.

Emboldened by success in its domestic market, Masaha Global is intent on living up to its name through an ambitious programme of international expansion. “We recently established a branch in Egypt, where we will be SANY’s official dealer,” says Ghazaleh. “We will start with a fleet of 350 units, all brand-new 2022 models. We have already placed the order with SANY and we’re expecting to receive delivery within three months.”

Ghazaleh is clearly optimistic about Masaha Global’s move into Egypt, a market he describes as “absolutely booming”.

However, he has not finished outlining the company’s expansion plans.

“I can tell you that, very soon, Masaha Global will also open a branch in Saudi Arabia,” he reveals. “We are growing from local to regional markets. In the next phase, we might consider Qatar in the Middle East, and Algeria, Libya or Morocco in North Africa. But for now, we are focusing on our new branches in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.”

Though encouraging to learn of a firm that has managed to weather the post-pandemic storm, it seems inevitable that Covid-19 must have had some impact on Masaha Global’s operations. While Ghazaleh concedes that market conditions are not ideal, he argues that setting realistic expectations in the short term will enable the company to capitalise in the future.

“We are offering preferable rates to remain competitive and stay in the market,” he says. “We are now hiring more sales engineers to increase our market share and cement our position. I expect this year to be similar to 2021; not up, not down, just stable. If my predictions are accurate, 2023 will be a very good year for Masaha Global.

FROM OIL TO SOIL The fact that the oil and housing sectors are driving demand for Masaha Global’s equipment is perhaps unsurprising in a country like Kuwait, but Ghazaleh says that soil remediation – or ‘soil washing’ – is also proving to be a major source of income.

“You may be aware that a significant portion of Kuwait’s land is contaminated with oil due to the Iraqi invasion of 1990,” he explains. “The United Nations has therefore mandated that it should be cleaned and treated.”

According to Ghazaleh, the soil remediation process requires a range of tools such as excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks, compactors and motor graders – all of which are manufactured by SANY. “Soil remediation contracts have already been awarded to several companies, and we have been supporting them with equipment,” he tells Plant & Equipment.

“By setting realistic targets and working to grow our market share, I expect to be in a position to capitalise next year,” he concludes.

Judging by Ghazaleh’s track record in such a difficult market, it seems plausible that Masaha Global could soon be the only game in town.

Al-Bahar and Hitachi tell James Morgan why it will take more than a global pandemic to dampen demand for tracked excavators on the construction sites of the Middle East.

s is the case in the wake of any crisis, economic commentators have been forced to hit the reset button during recent years, and with good reason. Without making the distinction between pre- and post-pandemic figures, contrasting the year-on-year performance of the construction industry would be akin to comparing apples with oranges. It just wouldn’t make sense.

Total contract awards for GCC construction projects dropped by 35 percent to just $69 billion in 2020, according to analysis from Deloitte and MEED Projects. The authors of the study note that the effects of coronavirus, coupled with falling oil prices and reduced government spending, resulted in the worst market conditions in nearly two decades.

Fortunately, amid ongoing relaxations in pandemic-related restrictions and a resurgent oil price, things appear to be looking up for the Gulf’s construction sector. In the UAE, for example, the equipment market is on course to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.80 percent during the period 2021-28, according to research from Arizton Advisory and Intelligence.

Encouragingly, regional excavator demand is likely to witness an above-average uptick, according to the analysts.

Two companies well placed to capitalise on this landscape are Mohamed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar (Al-Bahar), Caterpillar’s official dealer in the Middle East, and Hitachi Construction Machinery Middle East Corporation (HMEC).

Piet van Bakergem, General Manager of HMEC, tells Plant & Equipment that his team has succeeded in meeting regional requirements for Hitachi tracked excavators, despite the many challenges posed by coronavirus.

“After the slowdown caused by Covid-19 and the restart of construction projects, the demand for our equipment enjoyed a tailwind in 2021 – a trend which we are seeing continue into 2022,” he explains. “As everyone knows, many countries were forced to close their borders and transactions were very limited during the pandemic. This had a significant impact on logistics and transportation, but we succeeded in managing transactions on a case-by-case basis, maintaining full support and satisfaction for both Hitachi’s dealers and end users across all GCC countries.”

Samer Ismail, Product Manager – Earthmoving and Excavation at Al-Bahar, seems similarly stoic about his team’s performance during the past 12 months. “Every year comes with its own challenges, and 2021 was no different,” he tells

Plant & Equipment. “At Al-Bahar, we are glad to have continued supplying durable, industry-leading products along with some truly customer-focused offers during this period. We also look forward to a much more fruitful year for everyone in 2022.”

Orders for Caterpillar’s tracked excavators have remained equally strong for Al-Bahar, according to Ismail, who explains that these units are perennial favourites among the Middle East’s construction sites.

Perhaps because of their versatility and durability amid soaring temperatures and rough terrain, the Middle East’s appetite for tracked excavators tends to be maintained even during the most challenging of economic climates. This, of course, is music to the ears of companies such as HMEC and Al-Bahar, both of which have extensive experience of supplying these units to the region.

“Demand for the right machines has always existed and will continue to exist,” he says. “New projects and growth are inevitable; it is all about tapping into this demand with the best products and a solid track record of customer support.

“Due to the nature of the projects we tend to see in the Middle East, mid-size excavators are usually in highest demand,” says HMEC’s van Bakergem. “This is great news for Hitachi because we are a premium construction machinery manufacturer that end users can rely on. Consequently, we are witnessing healthy levels of demand for tracked excavators, with our 20-tonne and 30-tonne models proving the most sought after at present.”

“At Al-Bahar, we have a rich legacy of more than eight decades of serving this region,” Ismail continues. “Moreover, we have a world-renowned partner in Caterpillar, which is focused on building products that are durable and tailored to our customers’ requirements.

“In terms of our most popular models, Caterpillar’s 320 medium excavators and 336 large excavators are in highest demand, based on the current applications and project requirements of our customers.”

But what types of project are driving current demand for midrange and heavy-duty tracked excavators in the Middle East?

Landscaping, road development, infrastructure programmes, waste-handling requirements and general construction works are among the primary segments to which HMEC is currently catering, according to van Bakergem. While Al-Bahar is also supplying Caterpillar crawlers for infrastructure and construction projects, Ismail notes another raft of potentially lucrative contracts on the horizon.

“We expect most GCC countries to push forward with national railway works before long, which will lead to greater demand for tracked excavators and construction equipment in general across the region,” he explains.

The popularity of tracked excavators among Gulf-based contractors may be evergreen, but that’s not to say leading manufacturers such as Hitachi and Caterpillar are resting on their laurels. On the contrary, both HMEC and Al-Bahar are continuing to expand and enhance their regional line-ups.

“Built on the foundation of its superb technological capabilities, Hitachi Construction Machinery is delivering green ways for end users to cut carbon emissions and mitigate their environmental impact, in line with life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies,” says van Bakergem. “The latest Hitachi models utilise a range of technological advances, including the new standard mode which optimises fuel efficiency. We also have a long-standing commitment to the recycling of components, such as aluminium parts in radiators and oil coolers, and resin elements, which are marked for recycling.

“Hitachi’s environmental vision is to help build a low-carbon and resource-efficient society that is in harmony with nature.

The Hitachi Environmental Innovation 2050 strategy sets out the long-term targets that we will meet in order to contribute to this sustainable society.

“Our new models also employ advanced technologies to achieve excellent productivity with enhanced controllability,” van Bakergem adds. “Our cabs are comfortable, our units

Al-Bahar, meanwhile, is looking to capitalise on tracked excavator demand with the regional launch of a new efficient and cost-effective crawler. “Our most recent addition is the Caterpillar 320 GX, which Al-Bahar introduced to its line-up in Q4 2021,” explains Ismail. “Our new GX models offer greater fuel efficiency, reduced maintenance costs and lower initial purchase prices compared to our other popular models. This means our customers have more choice than ever before.

“With the support of Caterpillar, we plan to further expand our GX line-up with new models during the coming year, and we will introduce some enhanced machines to our premium GC range as well.”

As for the next 12 months, both Hitachi and Al-Bahar are confident that requirements for tracked excavators will remain high in the Middle East. According to the latter, keeping pace with demand will represent the biggest challenge.

“So far this year, we have seen huge demand for Caterpillar tracked excavators in this market,” says Al-Bahar’s Ismail.

“Of course, the pandemic has had a significant impact on the global logistics sector, so ensuring we have sufficient supply to meet our customers’ requirements will probably represent our greatest focus.”

Van Bakergem anticipates that HMEC’s order book will be similarly full in 2022, noting: “We are expecting more demand for Hitachi tracked excavators in our territory as work resumes on projects and Gulf countries continue to push forward with new developments connected to infrastructure and tourism.

“We also predict increased demand for these units due to initiatives such as Saudi Vision 2030, Egypt Vision 2030 and UAE Energy Strategy 2050,” van Bakergem concludes. “Here at Hitachi, we are well prepared to support these ambitious projects with our reliable products.”

IS IT STILL ‘CRAWL OR NOTHING’ IN THE GULF MARKET? Tracked excavators have reigned supreme on Middle East construction sites since time immemorial. Indeed, their wheeled counterparts continue to fulfil a supplementary role in the region, although – thanks to increased urbanisation – this situation is perhaps not as one-sided as it once was.

“The Middle East’s terrain is one of the main reasons behind the continued popularity of Caterpillar’s tracked excavators, in addition to other factors such as project type, typical applications and operating budgets,” explains Al-Bahar’s Ismail. “As such, tracked excavators remain in high demand on large-scale, remote developments, although it’s important to note that wheeled models are preferred inside the region’s cities.”

“Hitachi tracked excavators are still outperforming other variants,” agrees HMEC’s van Bakergem, “but with so many cities finalising infrastructure, wheeled excavators are becoming more and more commonplace owing to their multifunctional nature.”

So, could the crawlers’ dominance wane as the Middle East pushes forward with urban developments? Only time will tell.

DP WORLD AND SENEGAL GOVERNMENT MARK START OF CONSTRUCTION OF PORT OF NDAYANE DP World and the Government of Senegal have laid the first stone to mark the start of the construction of the new Port of Ndayane.

The stone laying ceremony follows the concession agreement signed in December 2020 between DP World and the Government of Senegal to build and operate a new port at Ndayane, about 50km from the existing Port of Dakar.

The ceremony was attended by Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, as well as a number of Presidents of institutions, members of the Government of Senegal, and local communities.

The investment of more than $1bn in two phases to develop Port Ndayane, is DP World’s largest port investment in Africa to date, and the largest single private investment in the history of Senegal.

Phase 1 of the development of the port will include a container terminal with 840m of quay and a new 5km marine channel

designed to handle two 336m vessels simultaneously, and capable of handling the largest container vessels in the world.

It will increase container handling capacity by 1.2 million Twenty Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) a year. In phase 2, an additional container quay of 410m will be developed.

frica’s construction professionals certainly haven’t had it easy during the past two years. Logistical challenges stemming from the global pandemic have been compounded by political and economic issues across multiple markets, resulting in sustained pressure for the industry.

Commenting in December following the publication of RIB CCS’s 2022 Construction Industry Outlook, the company’s CEO Andrew Skudder noted: “In South Africa alone, the total value of plans passed for building construction fell by 37 percent year-on-year in the first 11 months of 2020, preceded by annual declines of 1.1 percent and 11.8 percent in 2018 and 2019, respectively.”

Nevertheless, respondents to the RIB CCS survey remained optimistic, with 68 percent of participants predicting an uptick in project revenue during 2022, and only 10 percent anticipating a decline. But does this buoyant mood extend to the continent’s dump truck suppliers?

According to Powerplus Group and Nigerian Sinotrucks Ltd, while recent conditions may have been less than ideal, there is plenty of potential – and pent-up demand – in the market.

“We witnessed a slowdown in the African market in 2021, the reason being that our regional distributors were severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” explains Roshan Siraj, Head of International Sales at Powerplus Group. “In some African countries, this situation was made worse by political issues, which hampered the importation of equipment.

“Our Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, on the other hand, performed exceedingly well due to the hike in coal prices. Powerplus Group moved a substantial volume of equipment, including dump trucks, to Indonesia, the Philippines and even Australia last year.

“Overall, we actually experienced a surge in demand for our equipment, spare parts and technical services in 2021,” Siraj continues. “Of course, we would have done even better if it weren’t for travel restrictions, as this would have enabled us to participate in trade shows and exhibitions, engaging our customers as we did before the pandemic.”

“The heavy-duty truck and automobile industry and its value chain were not insulated from the adverse effects of Covid-19,” says Okwu. “The impact of the pandemic is still being felt, especially in developing markets such as Nigeria.

We are thankful to see that our economy is recovering; Nigeria’s GDP grew by 4.03 percent in the last two quarters of 2021, and we are also experiencing the gradual benefits of the federal and state governments’ massive investment in infrastructural development. We hope and pray that the market’s recovery continues to gain pace and is sustained.”

Despite economic and political challenges within Africa’s construction sector, both Powerplus Group and Nigerian Sinotrucks report solid demand for dump trucks.

Okwu notes that demand for dump trucks is also on the rise in Nigeria. “This is primarily down to government efforts to complete infrastructure projects in the lead-up to the approaching election,” he explains. “The real estate, dredging, mining and agriculture sectors are also driving demand. Okwu concludes: “As far as I am concerned, Nigeria’s focuses for 2022 should be economic recovery and political stability.

If both are managed effectively, it should give the dump truck segment a much-needed boost. If the Nigerian naira (NGN) strengthens, exchange rate differentials drop, the rate of inflation falls, and infrastructure investments continue, I think the future of Nigeria’s dump truck sector will be very bright indeed.”

NO TIME FOR DOWNTIME Africa is well known for its challenging terrain, so it’s no surprise that aftersales support is a key consideration for the continent’s fleet owners. Fortunately, both Powerplus Group and Nigerian Sinotrucks are well placed to keep their customers’ tippers moving.

“This is definitely a priority for our customers,” Siraj tells Plant & Equipment. “Price is also a major consideration, but the main concern is always the availability of spare parts and technical support.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, World Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and Islamic Development Bank are all reportedly in talks to fund the line.

The planned railway will begin in Egypt’s southern city of Aswan and end in Sudan’s northern town of Abu Hamad.

The FS highlighted an initial life of mine (LOM) of 12 years and covers less than 20% of the Dasa project mineralisation.

The project is estimated to have an annual production capacity of 3.8 million pounds (Mlb) of triuranium octaoxide (U3O8).

Excavation of a box-cut at the project site is estimated to commence in the first quarter (Q1) of 2022. Construction of the processing plant is expected to commence in 2023, with commissioning planned for 2024. The project is envisaged to produce yellowcake for sale by January 2025.

Kinross, a Canadian gold mining company, has revealed plans to invest $55M in the development of a photovoltaic solar power plant at Tasiast mine as a part of its plans to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by the organization.

434 units of the first phase of Katameya Coast have been sold. To keep up with growing demand, Starlight Developments has launched the second phase of the project, built on an area of 105 feddans with a total of 336 units overlooking a 2km crystal lagoon designed by SAOTA International.

Out of the entire investment, $50M is budgeted for environmental, social, and corporate governance-related spending in 2022 for the solar power plant at Tasiast mine, while the remainder will go towards a potential power line to connect the Udinsk project to Russia’s regional grid, reducing the miner’s reliance on diesel for electricity generation.

The Katameya Coast project is located on the 180 km Alexandria-Matrouh Road in the North Coast, on a total area of 205 feddans with a total of 770 units spaced out on 7 levels of an elevated plot of land to give all units a direct view of the sea.

The geothermal drilling activities for the solar panel foundations will begin in the second quarter of this year, with the solar power plant at Tasiast mine set to be completed in the third quarter of next year.

Egyptian developer Modon Developments is poised to launch the Green River Tower commercial project in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) at an investment of $285m. The 30-storey tower would be launched in March 2022.

Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya, launched construction of the Energy from Waste Plant at Mung’ang’a in Mumias Sub County. The plant will recycle waste collected from the county and convert it into electricity that will be supplied in the region.

The project, which will include offices, shops, and hotel apartments, would be completed in four years. DMA for Designs and Engineering Consultancy is the main consultant for the project.

This project will produce at least 10 megawatts of electricity to be used in the county. Aim is to reduce electricity cost by 50 percent to cut down on funds used by the county to pay electricity bills.

SANDVIK SECURES MAJOR ORDER IN MINING Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions has been awarded a contract from BHP to the Jansen Potash project, located in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. The contract follows several years of close collaboration with the customer BHP to develop the underground mining equipment and automation solution.

The total contract value is approximately SEK 2bn ($205m) and the delivery period of the equipment is expected to commence in the third quarter 2023 and extend to 2026.

An order value of approximately SEK 500m ($51m) will be reported in each of the first, second and fourth quarter in 2022, as well as in the second quarter of 2023.

The Jansen project has the potential to be the largest potash-producing mine in the world and is expected to operate for up to 100 years, providing a rich source of potassium for soil fertilization purposes and hence supporting food production. BRIGHTDROP ADDING WALMART TO ITS GROWING ROSTER OF CUSTOMERS BrightDrop announced it is adding Walmart to its growing roster of customers. Walmart signed an agreement to reserve 5,000 of BrightDrop’s EV600 and smaller EV410 electric delivery vans to support the retail giant’s growing last mile delivery network and goal of operating a zero-emissions logistics fleet by 2040.

Walmart plans to use BrightDrop electric vans as part of its InHome delivery service, which the retailer announced it will be rapidly expanding, going from InHome being available to 6 million households to making it accessible to 30 million U.S. households by the end of the year.

Launched in 2019, Walmart’s InHome delivery service is designed to give time back to families by using highly trained associates to deliver fresh groceries and everyday essentials directly into the customer’s kitchen or garage refrigerator. To support the growth of InHome, this year the company will hire more than 3,000 associate delivery drivers and will equip them with an all-electric fleet of delivery vans to support the retailer’s goal of operating a 100 percent zero-emissions logistics fleet by 2040.

cott Lidster, Director at Australian Earth Training, formed the company in 2017 when he realised (after a sevenyear career as an Operator Training Specialist with a Caterpillar dealership in Australia) that there was a real need for training services in the heavy equipment market. “During my time at Caterpillar, I interacted with a broad range of customers across the mining, construction, quarrying, and waste industries. They all spoke of a similar need - to have their people trained in best practice to help shift the dial on safety performance, boost productivity, and help lower their owning and operating costs,” he says.

Digging deeper, it became obvious that there was another area that would benefit from these services - middle management.

“Since beginning operations, we often found that some of the leaders running a crew didn’t understand how a particular machine system should be set up for success; or how that would affect operator output; or that when the setup is less than desirable, execution is compromised, leading to production inefficiencies,” continues Lidster. Today, after more than a thousand training events, the company is thriving and with the pandemic seemingly under control, the team will be able to resume providing in-person services to their global clients.

In the last two years, with the challenges of travelling internationally, all of Lidster and his team’s work was focused

on the domestic market. “We work with our customers to tailor the training to their requirements, sometimes we’ll be onsite for a day, sometimes for months,” he says. With this work ethic, clients in the Middle East and Africa and other regions were affected. “Like a lot of the businesses around the globe, we were affected by the pandemic. Initially, our ability to support our overseas customers with boots on the ground in the Middle East and Africa was taken away due to unpredictable international travel. However, we were able to support them through online meetings,” continues Lidster.

How it works Lidster’s team is approached generally once a company’s site production or the training management team have identified a deficiency in their operation. Australian Earth Training then will begin asking the questions about the operation, the operators, environmental challenges, and past training events to try and gain a deeper understanding of how the problem can be solved. “From there, we’ll communicate a plan of action with our customer, and expected training outcomes with a view to ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned with the training plan. Then we execute the plan,” he adds.

A follow-up session between three to six months post the training event is highly recommended to ensure that the

new processes are being applied by the workforce. “We also find that on our follow-up visit, operators tend to ask more questions and seek greater clarity around operating a particular machine,” says Lidster. The best part about concluding work with a client are the results - an increase in production capacity, reduction in fuel burn, greater uptime of assets, extending the ‘Mean Time In Between Failure’ events, lower owning and operating costs and more engaged operators.

One of their success stories is with a quarrying customer they have been working with over the past four years for their load and haul operation. They have a WA900 Komatsu wheel

loader as their primary production tool loading three HD 785 Komatsu dump trucks and hauling those to the crusher.

Australian Earth started out by running all their operators through a theory session outlining best practice operating techniques. From there, operators were mentored on site while they applied those techniques in the production environment.

The results were astonishing; the WA900 wheel loader had a 30% reduction in its fuel burn. Since the life of an engine is a function of fuel burn, the training helped extend the life of that engine which meant greater uptime. Production increased from 950 tonnes per hour to 1,200 tonnes per hour to the crusher.

The best thing about this effort is that the operators involved were the ones who got to own these tremendous outcomes.

Working in the Middle East region Most of Australian Earth Training’s clients in the Middle East belong to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. “Pre pandemic, the Middle Eastern market formed around 10% of Australian Earth Training’s revenues. With Vision 2030, and the Saudization initiative looming fast, we would like to see that percentage increase through helping not only the Saudi Mining industry but the Middle Eastern mining community in general.

They maintain their knowledge by attending various industry workshops by organisations such as Austmine and the Resources Training Council. Competencies are kept current by going through numerous Site Authorisations processes and demonstrating operating techniques to customers throughout the year. “The qualifications we require for our trainers to hold are the relevant Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII’s) certificates and the Certificate IV - TAE40116 Training and Assessment qualifications,” he adds. Their biggest challenge,

JOHN DEERE REVEALS FULLY AUTONOMOUS TRACTOR John Deere revealed a fully autonomous tractor that’s ready for large-scale production. The machine combines Deere's 8R tractor, TruSet-enabled chisel plow, GPS guidance system, and new advanced technologies. The autonomous tractor will be available to farmers later this year.

The autonomous tractor serves a specific purpose: feeding the world. The global population is expected to grow from about 8 billion to nearly 10 billion people by 2050, increasing the global food demand by 50%. Furthermore, farmers must feed this growing population with less available land and skilled labor, and work through the variables inherent in farming like changing weather conditions and climate, variations in soil quality and the presence of weeds and pests. All of these factors impact a farmer's ability to farm during the most critical times of the year.

HITACHI UNVEILS THE ZW180-7

JLG Industries now offers Quad Tracks for JLG 600S and 660SJ boom lifts. Quad Tracks from JLG are made up of four triangular rubber-track systems, each measuring 34in high by 54in long by 18in wide. They bolt directly to the boom lift’s standard wheel hubs, offering increased machine utilization and flexibility for working on a range of surfaces, including sand, mud, gravel, grass, paved streets with curbs, potholes and sharp transitions.

JCB EXTENDS LOADALL RANGE WITH THE NEW 538-70 TELEHANDLER The JCB Loadall has been expanded with the introduction of the mid-range 538-70.

The 538-70 is a genuine seven metre machine that slots into the Loadall Series III line-up with 3,800kg maximum lift capacity and 7.01m of lift height, placing it between the current 532-70 and 542-70 models.

At 3,000 to 3,800kg, lift performance is particularly strong in the 4-6m loading-at-height zone critical for bulk loading of grain into trucks and silage into diet feeders; and there is 2,500 to 2,750kg of capacity available at full height, depending upon the version. Like all mid-range machines in the Loadall range, the new 538-70 is available with a choice of four different transmissions, three power outputs and three standard feature and specification levels.

TADANO LAUNCHES THE AC 2.040-1 ALL TERRAIN CRANE

he market launch for the Tadano AC 2.040-1 is a world first in two ways. On one hand, it is the first all terrain crane to be developed jointly by Tadano’s Lauf and Zweibrücken locations in Germany. On the other, the AC 2.040-1 is the first member of the future Tadano AC family.

This signals the completion of the announced brand merger as all Tadano Group cranes will be sold exclusively under the Tadano brand name.

“That’s why this market launch is really special for us – after all, the new AC 2.040-1 is the first crane to combine the best of our two worlds with the know-how from Zweibrücken and Lauf,” says Frank Schröder, All Terrain Crane Product Line VP. The AC 2.040-1 is part of the company’s innovation push,

which will see 15 new crane models come onto the market in the next few years under the Tadano brand name.

Kicking off the new Tadano AC family For the AC 2.040-1, the Tadano engineers from Lauf and Zweibrücken combined the best of both worlds. It features the innovative IC 1 Plus control system with automatic counterweight detection, a capacity radar, and a work area display. The system determines the crane’s lifting capacity for every boom position as a function of the superstructure’s slewing angle. This enables the AC 2.040-1 to always make use of the maximum available lifting capacity with any outrigger configuration, including asymmetrical ones. This advantage is literally maximized when combined with the

Flex Base system, which makes it possible to extend the outriggers to any point within their range.

The crane features the Tadano Surround View camera system, which shows both the maximum possible extension lengths for the outriggers and the counterweight tailswing radius. As a result, Tadano Surround View makes it significantly easier to optimally position the crane at work sites. In addition, the system provides assistance on the way to the work site by making it easier for crane operators to notice pedestrians and cyclists when turning.

The crane also comes with the IC 1 Remote telematics

solution, which makes efficient crane and fleet management possible and shows both the location of the AC 2.040-1 and all its operating information on the monitor. This system helps with scheduling projects and routine maintenance, ensuring that the crane will have the highest possible availability for assignments. Moreover, it can be used to read error codes so that service team members can read the corresponding data “remotely” and run fault analyses to quickly diagnose and fix problems.

The ESTA-award-winning E-Pack with its 32-kW electric motor is optionally available and enables the AC 2.040-1 to work whisper-quiet and with zero emissions indoors and at nighttime in residential areas, for example. This makes the two-axle crane the third Tadano AC to be compatible with the E-Pack, with the two others being the AC 3.045-1 City and the AC 4.080-1.

ince 2010, Liebherr has been offering a series of wheel loaders tailored to markets outside of Europe and North America. Now Liebherr is modernising the three largest wheel loaders in this series with the new L 550, L 566 and L 580 models. Increasing the tip load, bucket sizes and engine power are some of the most important innovations. The wheel loaders also feature a new electrohydraulic pilot control. This technology forms the basis for various intelligent features which increase safety and productivity during daily use.

Liebherr has developed the three new models at its Bischofshofen plant, the company’s long-standing Centre of Excellence for Wheel Loaders. Decades of experience in designing wheel loaders was one of the keys to success in the development process. “We also analysed our international customers’ demanding wheel loader operations over a long period. This included observing different mining operations around the world. Our customers’ experiences were crucial to the development of the new wheel loader series,” explains Wolfgang Rottensteiner, who is responsible for sales of the wheel loader series at Liebherr-Werk Bischofshofen GmbH.

Performance increases The new L 550, L 566 and L 580 wheel loaders feature the proven hydrostatic Liebherr travel drive, which is renowned for its great efficiency. Thanks to increases in engine power – approximately 17% for the L 550 – the travel drive is even more powerful while maintaining the same low fuel consumption. This is advantageous when accelerating or penetrating material and lowers fleet fuel costs. Liebherr has installed the diesel engine in the rear, where it also acts as a counterweight thereby increasing the tip load for the wheel loaders.

Liebherr has three lift arm versions on offer for the new models.

Firstly, the z-bar kinematics, which come to the fore particularly in the lower lifting range and for the break-out force. Secondly, the industrial kinematics, which have been designed for working with heavy working tools such as high dump buckets and log grapplers.

Finally there are the High Lift lift arms – an extended version of the z-bar kinematics with the longest lift arms in this wheel loader segment. These ensure greater reach and more productive loading procedures at great heights, which is beneficial when loading railway wagons or lorries with high sides.

The working hydraulics of the wheel loaders will also impress customers with their larger components and new electrohydraulic pilot control. This technology also ensures responsive movements of the lift arms, independent of the size or weight of the working tool.

Liebherr also offers a new, optional weighing device on the bases of the electrohydraulic pilot control. The assistance system works automatically as a check scale and provides real time information about the loading procedure. This data helps machine operators to precisely fill dumpers, lorries and railway wagons with the specified quantities and to avoid overfilling.

Increased safety The electrohydraulic pilot control enables operators to perform individual adjustments on the new wheel loaders. For example,

they can set lift limitations and maximum tilt-out heights, thus reducing the risk of accidents in areas where space is restricted. The tilt-out speed can also be programmed to protect lift arm components and the installed equipment.

In addition to these optimisations for operating safety, Liebherr has also invested in the operational reliability of the new wheel loaders. The demand of a high degree of reliability is important to Liebherr as these wheel loaders are often faced with an abundance of challenges such as remote operating areas, extreme climates, demanding loading materials and multi-shift operation over a long period.

For this reason, Liebherr has installed larger axles than were fitted on predecessor models. Liebherr has drawn on proven components from its other wheel loaders for the core components and steel construction. When maintenance and servicing are required, Liebherr supports its customers with a global sales and service network.

Modern wheel loader design The modern design of the new L 550, L 566 and L 580 wheel loaders has particular functional advantages in addition to the

bold new look. The clean lines on the rear as well as the large glass surfaces in the cab facilitate good all-round visibility.

Furthermore, the new reversing camera, which is installed in a protected position in the engine bonnet, assists the machine operator to keep an eye on the area to the rear. Numerous details that have been seamlessly integrated in the wheel loaders’ exterior design make service work easier. For example, on the L 566 and L 580, the engine bonnet opens to the rear, making the diesel engine freely and safely accessible.

A sturdy cab access leads to the redesigned and spacious operator’s cab. One of the special features of the cab is the height-adjustable 9-inch touch display with intuitive menu navigation. The high-resolution display provides a clear overview of all the wheel loader’s operating information. The Liebherr control lever enables the highly-sensitive control of work movements as part of the modern operating concept.

Hydraulic working tools, such as the log grappler, can also be precisely controlled with the optional mini joystick on the control lever. The new electrohydraulic pilot control also makes an important contribution here. Large window surfaces and well-thought out storage areas complete the modern cab design.

‫كشفت شركة كينروس الكندية لتعدين الذهب عن خطط الستثمار ‪ 55‬مليون‬ ‫دوالر في تطوير محطة للطاقة الشمسية الكهروضوئية في منجم تازياست‬ ‫كجزء من خططها لتقليل كمية غازات االحتباس الحراري المنبعثة من المنظمة‪.‬‬

‫تم بيع ‪ 434‬وحدة من المرحلة األولى للقطامية كوست‪ ،‬مما يعكس ثقة‬ ‫العمالء بالعالمة التجارية الرائدة‪ .‬لمواكبة الطلب المتزايد‪ ،‬أطلقت شرك‬ ‫ستاراليت للتطوير العقاري المرحلة الثانية من المشروع والتي تم بناؤها على‬ ‫مساحة ‪ 105‬فدان بإجمالي ‪ 336‬وحدة تطل على بحيرة كريستالية بطول ‪2‬‬ ‫كم من تصميم ‪ SAOTA‬الدولية‪.‬‬

‫سوف تبدأ أنشطة الحفر الح اررية األرضية ألساسات األلواح الشمسية في الربع‬ ‫الثاني من هذا العام ومن المقرر االنتهاء من محطة الطاقة الشمسية في منجم‬ ‫تازيازت في الربع الثالث من العام المقبل‪.‬‬

‫تستعد شركة مدن للتطوير العقاري إلطالق مشروع جرين ريفر تاور التجاري‬ ‫في العاصمة اإلدارية الجديدة (‪ )NAC‬باستثمار حوالي ‪ 285‬مليون دوالر‪.‬‬ ‫سوف يتم إطالق البرج المكون من ‪ 30‬طابقًا في مارس ‪.2022‬‬ ‫المشروع الذي سيشمل مكاتب ومحالت تجارية وشقق فندقية سوف يتم‬ ‫االنتهاء منه في غضون أربع سنوات‪ DMA .‬للتصميمات واالستشارات‬ ‫الهندسية هي االستشاري الرئيسي للمشروع‪.‬‬

‫أطلق حاكم كاكاميجا‪ ،‬ويكليف أوبارانيا‪ ،‬عملية بناء محطة تحويل النفايات‬ ‫إلى طاقة في مونغانا في مقاطعة مومياس الفرعية‪ .‬سوف تقوم المحطة‬ ‫بإعادة تدوير النفايات التي تم جمعها من المقاطعة وتحويلها إلى كهرباء ليتم‬ ‫استخدامها لتغذية المنطقة‪.‬‬ ‫سوف ينتج هذا المشروع ما ال يقل عن ‪ 10‬ميجاوات من الكهرباء الستخدامها‬ ‫في المحافظة‪ .‬الهدف هو خفض تكلفة الكهرباء بنسبة ‪ ٪50‬لخفض األموال‬ ‫التي تستخدمها المقاطعة لدفع فواتير الكهرباء‪.‬‬

‫مشروع يورانيوم داسا هو منجم تحت األرض يتم تطويره في النيجر من قبل‬ ‫شركة جلوبال أتوميك‪ ،‬وهي شركة تعدين لليورانيوم مقرها في كندا‪.‬‬ ‫عاما ويغطي‬ ‫سلطت ‪ FS‬الضوء على العمر األولي للمنجم (‪ )LOM‬لمدة ‪ً 12‬‬ ‫أقل من ‪ ٪ 20‬من عملية تعدين مشروع داسا‪ .‬تقدر الطاقة اإلنتاجية السنوية‬ ‫للمشروع ‪ 3.8‬مليون رطل من ثالثي أكسيد ثالثي اليورانيوم (‪.)U3O8‬‬

‫يتكون البرج المذهل من الناحية المعمارية من عدد محدود من ‪ 384‬وحدة‬ ‫سكنية حصرية وراقية مع أحدث األجهزة والتجهيزات لتكمل التصميمات‬ ‫الداخلية الرائعة ومنح السكان منازل حديثة وعملية ومجهزة بأناقة‪ .‬باإلضافة‬ ‫إلى ذلك‪ ،‬يحظر اإليجارات قصيرة األجل للحفاظ على معايير البرج وضمان‬ ‫قدر أكبر من الراحة والحصرية والحفاظ على تقييم أعلى للملكيات‪.‬‬

‫من المتوقع أن تبدأ أعمال الحفر في المقطع الصندوقي في موقع المشروع‬ ‫في الربع األول من عام ‪ .2022‬ومن المتوقع أن يبدأ بناء مصنع المعالجة‬ ‫في عام ‪ ،2023‬مع التخطيط للتشغيل في عام ‪ .2024‬ومن المتوقع أن ينتج‬ ‫المشروع كعكة اليورانيوم الصفراء لتكون متاحة للبيع بحلول يناير ‪.2025‬‬

‫ويطرح العراق على المستثمرين مشروع إعادة بناء مصنع للكبريت ضمن‬ ‫خطط لخفض وارداته من تلك المادة‪ .‬كان المصنع الواقع في شمال محافظة‬ ‫المنتج الرئيسي للكبريت في العراق لكن تم تدميره خالل الحرب قبل‬ ‫نينوى ُ‬ ‫ضخما من الكبريت في المحافظة‪،‬‬ ‫ا‬ ‫مخزون‬ ‫المصنع‬ ‫يستخدم‬ ‫ات‪.‬‬ ‫و‬ ‫سن‬ ‫خمس‬ ‫ً‬ ‫ً‬ ‫مع رواسب تقدر بأكثر من ‪ 400‬مليون طن‪ ،‬وهو أكبر احتياطي للكبريت‬ ‫في العالم‪ .‬تم طرح مشروع إعادة بناء المنشأة من قبل مستثمرين من القطاع‬ ‫الخاص في عام ‪ ،2020‬لكن تم إيقافه بقرار من مجلس الوزراء على أساس‬ ‫أنه مشروع استراتيجي‪.‬‬

‫وقع مسؤولون في المملكة العربية السعودية اتفاقية لتطوير وتشغيل أكبر‬ ‫مركز تسوق في مدينة مكة المكرمة‪ .‬وستشمل اتفاقية الشراكة الخاصة بمسار‬ ‫مول شركة أم القرى للتنمية واإلعمار المالكة والمنفذة للمشروع وشركة هامات‬ ‫القابضة‪ .‬من المقرر أن يكتمل العمل في عام ‪ 2026‬بحجم استثمار يبلغ‬ ‫‪ 719‬مليون دوالر‪.‬‬

‫سوف تمنح شركة تنمية نفط ُعمان (‪ )PDO‬شركة كيه سي إيه ديوتاج‬ ‫عقدا مدته عشر سنوات لتوفير خدمات الحفر بأربع حفارات جديدة‬ ‫إنتريجي ً‬ ‫مؤتمتة للغاية سيتم بناؤها في ُعمان‪ .‬يأتي عقد العشر سنوات مع خيارات‬ ‫للتمديد لمدة عامين آخرين مع تضمين هذه الخيارات‪ ،‬تبلغ قيمته اإلجمالية‬ ‫حوالي ‪ 550‬مليون دوالر‪.‬‬

‫وتنص االتفاقية التي وقعها الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة أم القرى للتنمية واإلعمار‬ ‫ورئيس مجلس إدارة شركة هامات القابضة على تطوير مرافق ومنشآت المول‬ ‫وخلق العديد من فرص العمل المباشرة وغير المباشرة‪ .‬سوف يتم تطوير‬ ‫المركز التجاري على مساحة ‪ 71000‬متر مربع كما سيوفر مساحة تسوق‬ ‫تمتد ألكثر من ‪ 130.000‬متر مربع‪.‬‬

‫سوف يتم إنشاء الحفارات المبتكرة من قبل الشركة الدولية لتكنولوجيا الحفر‬ ‫(‪ )IDTEC‬في عمان ‪-‬والتي تمتلك مجموعة كيه سي إيه ديوتاج أغلبية‬ ‫أسهمها‪ -‬وهي شركة تصنيع وصيانة الحفارات المحلية للمجموعة والتي‬ ‫اكتسبت بالفعل الخبرة واالعتمادات الالزمة لبناء منصة الحفر‪ .‬سوف تكون‬ ‫تقنيا هي األولى من نوعها التي يتم إنشاؤها في سلطنة‬ ‫الحفارات المتطورة ً‬ ‫ُعمان مما يمثل خطوة تغيير في قدرات بناء الحفارات في البالد‪.‬‬ ‫سوف تستثمر شركة كيه سي إيه ديوتاج إنتريجي ما يقرب من ‪ 100‬مليون دوالر‬ ‫أمريكي لبناء الحفارات الجديدة في عمان وتتوقع أن تبدأ عملياتها في النصف‬ ‫الثاني من عام ‪ .2023‬كما سيتم إنفاق حوالي ‪ %40‬من هذه القيمة مع الموردين‬ ‫العمانيين‪ ،‬بما في ذلك الشركات المحلية الصغيرة والمتوسطة (‪.)SMEs‬‬
