Youth Sports Football Junior Pee Wee New Fairfield 14, Plainville Colts 7: On the opening drive, Plainville’s Frank Griffin completed an 83-yard touchdown pass to Christian Collin, who outran New Fairfield’s secondary. The Colt defense, led by Collin, Griffin and Mike Zapatka, held New Fairfield scoreless in the second half. D.J. Cassone and Ryan Barker stepped in to play key offensive line positions for Plainville. Plainville Colts 34, Region 19-Storrs 6: Plainville’s Frankie Griffin took the opening kickoff 73 yards for a touchdown and Mason Sarra kicked the extra point. On the Colts’ first offensive play, Griffin threw a 35-yard TD pass to Christian Collin, who also ran in an extra point in the win. Plainville continued its first-half scoring on touchdown runs of 79 and 35 yards by Brady Callahan. The Colts struck one more time before the break on a two-yard run by Brendan Quilter. Chris Cox took in the extra point. Plainville’s defense was led by Daniel Nanowski, who recorded two sacks and a fumble recovery. Collin and Sarra made interceptions. Plainville resident Jack McConachie, PGA Golf Professional at Pine Valley Golf Course in Southington, presented a golf clinic at Frank T. Wheeler Elementary School recently. McConachie, CT Section PGA’s Teacher of the Year, introduced the clinic-goers to various aspects of the game during the session.

The Colt defense, which held Wolcott scoreless in the second half, was anchored by Dante and Dominick Chambrello, Cameron Lamothe, Jesse Pires, Nathaniel Artis and Connor Matthews. Plainville Colts 14, New Milford 14: Javan Paradis had two touchdowns and Austin Halat kicked an extra point as Plainville battled New Milford to a stalemate. The Colt defense was anchored by Austin Halat, Jesse Pires, Darrius Correa, Dante Chambrello, Dominick Chambrello and John Guzzardi.
Soccer U-11 boys Somers 5, Plainville 4: Somers jumped out to a 5-1 lead late in the first half. With just 10 minutes remaining in regulation, goals by Luis Cruz, D.J. Leclair and Dylan Hall sliced Plainville’s deficit to 5-4. The locals had three scoring opportunities in the final minutes of the game, but were unable to convert as Somers held on. Zac Santini and Joey Page also played well for Plainville.

I was very glad that she stayed and made the utmost of her time with the program.” Cassie Dagata: Seeing limited playing time on the horizon this season, Dagata opted to call it a career and serve as a team manager. “She ended up helping out at practice, running the clock, keeping our game books and even did the announcing for us. She is a lovely young women with a bright future ahead of her.”
