Three Teams Win Sectional Titles It was a successful fall season for Brothers athletics as boys golf, boys soccer and football each won Sectional Titles. The boys golf team became the first team of the 2013-14 school year to win a banner. The Brothers finished nine strokes ahead of Chittenango, with a score of 414, to win the team title for small schools. Drew Derrenbacker shot a 78, while Jack Bellardini shot a 79 to lead the Brothers. Derrenbacker and Bellardini both qualified for the state meet, which will be held next May at Colgate’s Seven Oaks course. The boys soccer team won the Section III Class A Title by defeating Jamesville-Dewitt 2-1 in overtime on Nov. 2. Monte Stroman booted the ball from 22 yards away to give the Brothers their first Sectional Title since 2006. With the win, the Brothers advanced to the first round of the State Tournament, however lost to Averill Park 3-0. The team finished with a 16-3 record. The football team defeated Henninger 19-14 to capture the schools 10th Section III championship.
Deshawn Salter rushed for 158 yards in the win, while J.R. Zazzara rushed 24 times for 115 yards and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. The Brothers lost to Elmira 24-18 in the Section IV regional finals. The team finished the season 10-1 and was ranked as high as No. 2 in the State. A number of student-athletes were recognized in their individual sports for their accomplishments. Here’s a look at who was named to All-Central New York and All-League teams. Football The following were named to the All-CNY Football First Team: Gideon Dixon, Aaron Donalson, Deshawn Salter, and J.R. Zazzara. Zazzara was also named All-CNY Mr. Football. Named to the Second Team were: Andre Dowdell, Keegan O’Hern, John Phillips and Andrew Romagnoli. Receiving First Team AllLeague Honors were: Zazzara, Salter, Donalson, O’Hern, Romagnoli, Phillips and Dowdell. Second Team honors went to: Dixon, Jonathan Stackhouse, Kane Alletzhauser, Tim Pierret, Julius Richardson,
Sidney Vallery and Kellen Sherwin. Andrew Goodwin, Chris Bedigan, Dan Damico, Nolan Bower, Noah JordonWilliams, Colin Recore and Peter Battaglia were named to the Honorable Mention team. Boys Soccer Zach Zajdel was named to the All-CNY Boys Soccer team. Zajdel, Alex Chrisman and Mike Smith were named First Team All-League. Matt DePerro was named Second Team All-League. Golf Jack Bellardini and Andrew Derrenbacker were named AllCNY for golf. Bellardini was also named OHSL Freedom National Player of the Year and to the First Team All-League. Derrenbacker was also a First Team All-League selection. Named to the Second Team were Will Ierlan and Stephen Fournier. Girls Soccer Eva Gordon was named to the All-CNY Girls Soccer Team and was named OHSL Freedom Co-Player of The Year. Gordon, along with Alexa Radziewicz was named First Team All-League. Named to the Second Team were: Lindsay Evans, Chloe Germain
and Hailey Dobbins. Jasmine Ehrich and Kate LaCasse were Honorable Mention. Tennis The following received AllCNY honors for tennis: Sarah Roberts and Elizabeth Sasser (First Team Doubles); Evie Lopoo (First Team Singles); Alison Croucher and Anna Kambhampaty (Honorable Mention Doubles); Mikayla Santulli (Honorable Mention Singles). Swimming & Diving Annie Fletcher was named to the Swimming & Diving All-CNY First Team, while Julia Torell was named to the Second Team. Six Sign Division I Letters of Intent For Lacrosse Six student-athletes signed letters of intent to play lacrosse at Division I institutions next year. This year’s student-athletes and their college choices: Alea Bonner (Marist); Alexander Brunner (Delaware); Hailey Dobbins (Syracuse); Braedon Gait (Princeton); Andrew Romagnoli (Marquette); and Jack Zerrillo (Marquette).

Eleven students were named Area All-State and All-County for band and chorus. In addition, two students were named to the Greater Syracuse Youth Orchestra. Area All-State Participants included: Mixed Chorus: Sam Lim (bass); Women’s Chorus: Brianna Delaney (alto); Band: Emery Lawrence (clarinet); Orchestra: Josh Popp (trumpet); Senior High All-County Participants: Chorus: Sam Lim (bass); Band: Emery Lawrence (clarinet); Orchestra: Greg Maziuk (double bass); Geoff Parkes (cello); Junior High All-County Participants: Chorus: Emily Rivito (soprano); Ethan Tanguay (bass); Will Bianchi (bass); Orchestra: Hannah Kang (violin); Greater Syracuse Youth Orchestra Participants: Hannah Kang (violin) and Olivia Malvasi (harp).
On Stage: Junior High Musical And Senior High Drama Both the junior high and senior high drama students had an opportunity to showcase their thespian, musical and dancing talents this fall. More than 40 junior high students performed “Seussical, The Musical” to sold-out audiences, while 12 senior high students portrayed characters in “The Imaginary Invalid,” by Moliere in the school’s chapel.

The Junior High performed “Seussical, The Musical” this past fall.
The Junior High Lego Robotics team won the “Robot Performance” award for having the highest score in the robotics portion of the competition at the regional championship at SUNYIT in Utica. Junior Margaret Conan won the “Young Mentor” award for her work in coaching the Holy Cross FLL team. The team also won the “Robot Performance” award and the “Champion’s Award” at the First Lego League qualifier event at Mohawk Valley Community College. In addition, the team captured the “Champion’s Award” for having the strongest overall team. Members of the Junior High Lego Robotics team include: eighth graders Vinny Carno, Jake Swanson and Kevin Craig and seventh graders Andrew Goldberg, Nick Merola and Zach Kinnally. Faculty members Griffin Harmon and Luke Ribaudo are the advisors for the team.
