April 2, 2022 Dear CBA Family and Friends, On behalf of the Christian Brothers, the Board of Trustees, the faculty, staff, and students of Christian Brothers Academy, I would like to welcome you back to the CBA campus for this evening’s 33rd annual Lasallian Dinner and Auction, “CBA’s Rockin Around the Clock”. This exciting event would not be possible without the diligent efforts of the dedicated Auction Committee members and volunteers, led by our exceptional chairs, Michelle and Marc Engle, and Kathy Wiese. It is our good fortune that all of our committee volunteers support us through their donations of time, hard work, and organizational skills, along with the talented members of our Advancement Office, who have overseen every detail. I am grateful to each of you for another job well done. Items have been procured, donations have been cataloged, reservations have been made and the school has been transformed into an elegant ballroom. The items displayed tonight, are testimony to the benevolence of countless members and friends of our CBA community. Special thanks are due to those who sponsored and attended the school-wide gift gathering party- a key ingredient to collecting the treasures you will bid on tonight. Know that your attendance this evening benefits our school enormously. The proceeds from our Lasallian Dinner and Auction directly affect each of our students by helping offset tuition costs and thus ensuring that CBA remains accessible to those who desire a high caliber, college preparatory, Catholic education in the Lasallian tradition. Enjoy, bargain hunt, bid, and spend time with friends old and new! Lift your bid numbers high and bid generously on the marvelous array of enticing live auction items. With every winning bid, our students and teachers win as well. Now, please join us as we celebrate an exciting evening. Sincerely,

Matthew Keough President

Lasallian Educator of the Year Each school year CBA faculty select a fellow teacher who exemplifies the ideals of St. John Baptist de La Salle. An eligible nominee must have been a Lasallian educator for at least five years, be actively involved in fostering the mission of Lasallian education, and demonstrate an enthusiasm for the Lasallian tradition.

Dr. Lynn Infanti Dr. Lynn Infanti was chosen by her colleagues for the prestigious honor of Lasallian Educator of the Year. She models what was originally proclaimed about our school through the Blue Ribbon award; hard work, creating a “safe and welcoming” environment, helping students “master challenging content”, an “inspiration”, “striving for excellence.” Lynn is truly inspirational and excellent in every way. Her dedication is exemplified by her hard work in achieving a doctorate in education, which has ultimately led to her affectionate title from both her students and fellow teachers as “Doc”. The students are inspired by her master class knowledge of biology, anatomy & physiology, and often her elective is filled to the brim with eager students interested in future careers in the medical field. Outside of CBA, Lynn also teaches at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, where students again remark that she is “passionate, reliable, organized, thorough, honest”, “willing to do what it takes to make sure her students understand the material.” Beyond her excellence as an educator, Lynn is self-sacrificing as a colleague, willing to help in any way to promote the growth of the teachers in her department, and also listen to their voices when they are in need. She works beyond her hours to promote the needs of her fellow teachers and students. Her patience and understanding as a science department chair have led to the feeling that she will support her department in whatever circumstances they might face in the classroom. Her actions as chair mimic the founder of our schools, in promoting a brotherhood of camaraderie and inclusion, a community where all feel welcome, relaxed, and content even in a year of such uncertainty. Dr. Lynn Infanti exemplifies all that it means to truly be Lasallian.

Purple and Gold Award Recipients The Alumni Association selects Purple and Gold recipients from among nominated individuals who have demonstrated outstanding support in the best interests of the students, faculty, and alumni of CBA; have dedicated years of service to the Academy; and have been committed to the ideals and principals of CBA. The 2022 recipients are Kathleen and John O’Connor ’85. Kathleen and John, both attorneys, met while they were summer associates at Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle in Rochester. Beginning in 2007, Kathleen and John enrolled their four children at CBA. Jack ’13, Danny ’15, Tommy ’16, and Grace ’18 each left their unique mark on Christian Brothers Academy. The O’Connors served as co-chairs for the Lasallian Auction in 2009 and 2010.

Mrs. Kathleen O’Connor Born Kathleen Connors and raised in the Corning, NY area, she graduated from Corning East High School. She earned a bachelors degree in Public Policy Studies from Duke University and her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law. Her career includes Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of NY and private practice with the Hiscock & Barclay firm. In 2002, Kathleen began her incredibly successful career at Syracuse University College of Law, where her first job was as Legal Writing Professor. She has been Faculty Director for Moot Court Honor Society and Advocacy and the Executive Director for Online Education. Professor O’Connor currently holds the position of Senior Associate Dean for Online Education. At CBA, Kathleen has been a loyal, enthusiastic, and productive volunteer. She joined the Parents Club when her children matriculated at CBA, rising to the role of President in 20102011. She served as chair of the Senior Fashion Show for four years, was instrumental in reenvisioning the school-wide Founders Day celebration, served on the Middlestates Accreditation Committee, and the Covid-19 School Reopening Committee.

Mr. John O’Connor ’85 While a student at CBA, John was involved in student government, cross country, and track, and graduated as Salutatorian. He secured a spot at Georgetown University, earning a BSBA degree in Finance followed by a Juris Doctor degree from Duke University School of Law. In 1992, John was hired as an associate at Nixon, Hargrave, Divans & Doyle. In 1996, John joined Kopp Billing Agency, Inc, as its Vice President. John currently serves as the company’s Principal alongside his brother Patrick ’88. John was elected to the CBA Board of Trustees in 2002 for the first of two full terms and a total of 18 years. He served on the Finance, Investment, Strategic Planning, Nominating, and Advancement Committees. In 2010, and again in 2014, John was tasked with assessing the Strategic Plan, “Vision 2020,” which informed the Our Mission, Their Future campaign, and included a Master Facilities Plan, a prioritization of projects, and the hiring of campaign counsel. By the time the campaign was underway, in fall 2017, John had been elected as Chair of the Board. He remained intimately involved in all aspects of the project, which resulted in capital improvements and endowment growth totaling more than $13.5 million, the most successful in CBA history. As Board Chair, John also oversaw the leadership transition at CBA, resulting in installing Matthew Keough as the first lay President of the school. During his last year as Chair, he led an effort to gather the CBA graduates from the 80’s for a successful reunion at the campus.

RAISE YOUR PADDLE — HOW IT WORKS: The teachers at CBA have many resources available to them, but sometimes there are things that are just a bit out of reach or beyond what the budget can handle. The auction committee and the administration concluded that “Raise Your Paddle” would be an ideal way to give the faculty/staff a chance to make their wishes come true.

Your generosity is making a difference today! How it works is very simple — Raise Your Paddle is essentially a mini-telethon during our Live Auction where bidders are given an opportunity to make a donation at various dollar amounts in order to make a straight cash (or credit) contribution for this cause.

Each year ideas are provided to the committee from faculty and staff wish lists. Since its inception thirteen years ago, we have made purchases and enhancements in the Technology, Math, Physical Education, Science and Engineering, and the Visual Arts departments. In addition, a fund has been established to provide access to service and mission trips for ALL CBA students.

Mr. Matthew Keough will start us off with a short presentation during our live and live stream program (check auction website http://bit.ly/2022lasallianauction for link to livestream), to describe the project and how it will impact the students at CBA. Our auctioneer will then start the bidding for donations at $5,000, $2,500, then $1,000, then $500, then $250 and so on. YOUR donation will directly fund the project. THANK YOU in advance for your generosity!

Raise Your Paddle: CBA Performing Arts Venue CBA announced one of the largest single gifts in its history on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 9:30 am in the Lynch Gymnasium at the school’s annual Christmas assembly—an amazingly generous gift from Mr. Daniel Byrne ’70 to renovate the current LGI space to into a 200-250 seat flexible performing arts space. The $1M gift will fund a transformational project on the CBA campus that will benefit EVERY CBA student. We will need additional funding to complete this worthwhile project. This year’s auction will feature the “Raise Your Paddle” for donations directed to the Performing Arts project. We have an anonymous donor willing to match up to $50,000 of “Raise Your Paddle” contributions. This transformative opportunity will provide the following: • A dedicated performing arts facility • Such a space would “complete” the campus and serve a broader spectrum of students – both current and future. • Creative use of space for cross-curricular endeavors • A $1 Million Plus budget would create a home for performing artists at CBA by creatively remodeling the large group instruction room into a “black box” type theater. • Ability to practice and perform in the same venue • Opportunity for student involvement in sound, lighting, staging, and set construction • Team building at its best with excellence as a goal • Pride in self, crew, program and school • Sense of belonging, home, on-par with athletics, academics, popular clubs Please note, each year a portion of the Raise Your Paddle fund goes to support the service and mission trips, critical to the CBA experience, so that ALL CBA students will have access to these opportunities. No student should be denied the chance to be immersed in service at places like Camp Sunshine, or Summer Servants because they cannot afford the associated expenses.

2021-2022 Corvette Raffle The Corvette Raffle Committee would like to extend thanks and appreciation to all those volunteers who sold and purchased raffle tickets. We offer special thanks to Lisa Bannon, Christina Ciereck, Jonathan Hood, Lillian Jeng, Theresa Potenza and Serena Romero for their many hours of assistance with ticket processing.
