Get Out... with Pitlochry Life! Thursday 17th January - Pitlochry SWI - Aldour Hall - 7.15pm. All ladies welcome. It’s £20 to join for the whole year and £3.50 for visitors on the evening. A great supper is promised and if you’re good at raspberry jam or crocheting a 4-inch square for a communal blanket, please bring them along and enter them in the evening’s competition...and please remember to bring your own cup! Saturday 19th January - Vale of Atholl Pipe Band Junior Piping & Drumming Solo Competition - Pitlochry High School - 9.30am. Everything from the classical Piobaireachd to learners on the practice chanter and drum pad. There are raffle tickets on sale with great prizes. See page 48. Saturday 19th January - ABBA A-RIVAL - Atholl Palace Hotel - 7.00pm. Our evening begins with drinks in the grand Bow Lounge. Then we head to the Atholl Suite for dinner and evening entertainment! Abba A-Rival is an explosive show packed with all your favourite Abba Hits, sensational singing and authentic costumes. This glamorous Abba Tribute bring back Abba as they were in their heyday, with sequins galore, platform boots and all the songs you love to sing and dance to! See page 43 for details. Friday 25th - Monday 28th - Williamson's My Florist Celebration - Atholl Road Shop - 9.00am to 5.00pm. To celebrate re-opening after refurbishment, Williamson's will be offering customers a free pot of hyacinths or a box of luxury Belgian chocolates with any purchases of £20. Pop in to see the new shop and take advantage of this offer. See page 47 for more details. Saturday 26th January - The Tryst Walking Group – Craig Urrard – 9.30am. This is a circular walk on paths and estate roads west of Blair Atholl. The route is mainly through woods but rises to a fine viewpoint. Height climbed 250m. Distance 8 miles. We are a friendly and informal group, based in Pitlochry, usually organising two walks per month. Visitors / new members are most welcome. Monday 28th January - Moulin & Pitlochry History Circle - The Tryst - 7.30pm. Colin Liddell will speak on “ Pitlochry in 1846”. The central theme will be around the maps drawn up of Faskally Estate in 1846 by Peter McLagan and the fascinating detail they show of the state of the area at that time. Friday 1st February - John Swinney MSP Surgeries - from 10.30am. See page 30 for details of times and places. Saturday 2nd February - Inner Wheel Club of Pitlochry - Annual 'Soup and Pud' Lunch - The Tryst - 12noon - 2.00pm. Tickets £6.50. There will also be a raffle. Saturday 2nd February - Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour - Pitlochry Festival Theatre 2.00pm and 7.00pm. A brand-new collection of adrenaline-packed films, with the world’s top adventurers tackling extreme expeditions in the most stunning corners of the planet. Audiences will witness life-changing journeys, incredible wildernesses and spectacular cinematography – all via the big screen!
