CIOCCOLATI ITALIANI

Cioccolati Italiani is one of the most famous chocolate shops in Italy. I luckily lived there during my high school year and had such great experience of taste. It was definitely intriguing for me to bring this project to Cincinnati. However, the challenge for me was the city itself because of its density and the community. I felt like that the city is quite ‘anti-social’. The most important task in this project was movements because Cioccolati Italiani’s objective is to exhibit their best quality of chocolate to citizens. Here this page displays some image of my inspiration and ideas that I wanted to utilize in order to enhance the richness of the store.

The concept I had was the relationship between the exterior and interior space.

I wanted to let the view to shown inside from the outside perspective. Thus, I tried to put a big window facade.

KING LIBRARY My concept of King Library was naturally books. The way books turn pages naturally and the rich curveness of the texture interpreted my ideas to put into my structural concept. A lot of people think library is a public space where people can study, however I believe it means a place mostly for books.

Thus, my purpose of this project is to show the forte of the book. The partii diagram provides my initial concept. It can be both used as a safety shelter. Also, by doing the site analysis, it made my idea certain that it would be suitable to the King Library facade.

CLIFTON LIBRARY Clifton located near Cincinnati, Ohio is a small city with residents, along with several commercial buildings. People seem to know each other as if they are great neighborhoods. When I first visited the site area, it reminded me of an alley street in my hometown South Korea. What made me challenging was creating a connection with surrounded buildings. In modern architecture, architects use a lot of industrial materials, to produce a sturdy structure. However, this area mostly consisted of bricks. As I have done some of my site analysis, one of the inconvenient aspect I thought was the circulation movements.

Creating a big entrance on the library was my essential task for my project, and since Clifton is a city with minimal people, I wanted to use my theme “Parallelism� to convey the citizens that library will become a better city.

STUDY CONCEPT During my spring vacation, I visited LA to adapt some ideas on how to utilize several functions.

Platform seemed to have a strong image of ‘parallelism’, thus I used several stairs on the same floor to show the forte of parallelism. Also, I wanted to work on the entrance sequence and work on the elevation difference in order to indicate that the use of ‘curvilinear’ would stand out
