Watch our 40 talented local singing talents on Tuesday, November 13 and Wednesday, November 14 at the McPhillips Station Casino, 2nd floor, as they compete for the 12 coveted spots as Pinoy Pop Star (PPS) finalists. Forty semi-finalists were selected for the Pinoy Pop Star Season 4 singing competition. Pilipino Express News Magazine in co-operation with McPhillips Station Casino held three full days of auditions from Friday, October 19 to Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the casino in Winnipeg. The Pilipino Express team
together with Lucille Nolasco of CKJS Radio and JP Sumbillo of 204 LIVE announced the names of the semi-finalists during a live streaming event on the 204 Live Music FaceBook channel on the evening of Wednesday, October 24, 2018 (see www. pilipino-express.com to watch the announcement). It was also during that October 24 live streaming that the sequence in which the singers will perform over the two nights of the semi-final competition was determined by a random draw of names.
The names and the order or sequence of their performance are listed in the Pinoy Pop Star ad on page 8 of this issue of Pilipino Express. Buy your tickets at Ticketmaster McPhillips Station Casino, located in the Gift Store, near the Skywalk entrance from the free parking garage and at Ticketmaster at Club Regent Casino located in the Gift Store, near the Event Centre (north entrance). Cannabis and non-Canadian residents The Government of Canada made cannabis legally available to adults on October 17. In December 2018, those who drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, including cannabis will face tough new penalties. For non-Canadians, including permanent residents, the stakes will be high. Not only could they face a fine, criminal charges or even jail, but they may also lose their status and have to leave the country. Similarly for temporary residents, including visitors, international students and foreign workers, they may not be able to enter or stay in the country. See CANNABIS p4
