SPPO kicks off 27th Police Community Relations month

The provincial goverment of Siquijor kicked off this year’s Nutrition Month celebration at the Dugokanan sa Kapitolyo, Siquijor, Siquijor. Themed, “New Normal na Nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon,” the program was highlighted with Gov. Jake Vincent Villas message reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the new normal nutritional requirements of every Siquijodnon. He said meeting the demand and supply of quality food is a vital component of maintaining one’s health. Board member Brylle Deeiah Tumarong also gave her support as

the newly installed chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Health through the legislation procedures and other means of implementing the program/projects/activites for the better health system of the island. The kickoff ceremony was attended by Governor Jake Vincent Villa, Congressman Zaldy Villa, Vice Governor Mei Ling Quezon-Brown, Board Member Brylle Deeiah Tumarong, Board Member Erson Digal and Dr. George Walthrode Opay together with the Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Municipal Health Officers of the province. Siquijor Provincial Police Office (SPPO) under the leadership of Acting Provincial Director Police Colonel Robert D. Lingbawan, formally kicked off the 27th Police Community Relations Month Celebration with the theme: “Ugnayang Pulisya ag Komunidad Tungo sa Mapayapa, Maaayos at Maunlad na Pamayanan”, coinciding with the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony. Commendations were given to deserving Police National Police (PNP) personnel who has exemplary displayed good deeds to the Siquijodnons during the ceremony. Likewise, Certificates and Plaques of Recognition were also given to Siquijor Provincial Mobile Force Platoon (SPMFP) from National Police Commision (NAPOLCOM) for their Police Community Relation (PCR) Initiatives. Serving as the Guest of Hnor and Speaker was youngest elected Provincial Board Member and presently the Chairperson of the SPPO-Provincial Advisory Group Boardmember Brylle Deeiah Tumarong. In her message, Tumarong commended the efforts and sacrifices of both uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of SPPO for the effective existing programs and projects that promotes policecommunity relations. In her closing statement, she encouraged the SPPO personnel and the local government to work together for a peaceful community. (with reports from SPPO)

Summary Inflation Report Consumer Price Index (2018=100) Siquijor Province June 2022 Province of Siquijor recorded an increase of 7.9 percent in June 2022. This is the highest recorded inflation for the province since January of 2019. This was 1.1 percent higher in May 2022 with an inflation of 5.8 percent.

The higher inflation in the Province of Siquijor was mainly influenced by the following commodity groups: 1. Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance; 2. Food and non-alcoholic beverage; 3. Transport; 4. Clothing and Footwear; and 5. Health.

DA7’s COS employees in Siquijor undergo orientation

Twenty-six contract of service (COS) personnel of the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA7) assigned in the Province of Siquijor were oriented recently on the mandate, vision and mission of the agency. Petronila Corpuz, the chief of the Planning and Monitoring Evaluation Division (PMED), encouraged the COS to internalize the mandate and vision of DA and be the driving force in the performance of their works, irrespective of designations. Director Leo Caneda, former regional director of the DA7, shared his experiences during his stints as a COS, to a rank and file employee and becoming one of the top managements of the DA. He inspired the COS to love their work and find the passion to serve the farmers and fisherfolk with the goal to make their lives better and improve their economic status. Maria Isabel Martinez, the chief of DA7’s Human Resource Section, explained the provisions of the contract and the responsibilities of the COS.

Joanna Enriquez, COS at the DA7’s Siquijor Research and Development Center (SRDC), who joined the department in 2020, said she is very grateful for the opportunity to work with the DA7 as she is now earning and at the same time learning and honing her skills on food production for her to share with the farmers. Another COS, Agriculturist Fritz Bon Atay, who also joined in 2020 said that

working with the DA7 serves as avenue to practice his profession and learn more new innovations on agri-fishery.
