by Marvie Bautista Creativity, camaraderie and teamwork among employees made for a fun Halloween trick-or-treat for kids and their young-at-heart moms and dads! Cobwebs hung from the ceiling, tombstones lined hallways, ghouls stood at each turn, and a chillingly realistic coffin lent an eerie feel to the usually quiet Home Office floors. The costumed trick-or-treaters braved the spooky décor and ended up collecting mounds and mounds of treats from the different Departments. Before the program proper, they were given time to go through the sweets they received—and even asked to “Guess How Many Candies” there were inside a big bowl! As if the overflowing candy wasn’t enough, the kids who came in the Most Spook-tacular, Most Fa-BooLous costumes, as well as those who proved Most Energetic and Most Charming earned a cash prize of Five Hundred Pesos each!

Philippine Prudential Says “Walang Iwanan!”

Last November 2013, Super Typhoon Yolanda struck the Visayas with massive force, leaving thousands of Filipino families homeless and in urgent need of aid. In response, Philippine Prudential mobilized employees and signed them up for a day of relief operations at the Gawad Kalinga: Walang Iwanan Operations at the Department of Agrarian Reform Gymnasiumh in Quezon City.

Alongside other Companies and GK volunteers, Philippine Prudential helped repack essential goods and water bottles for distribution to survivors of heavily affected areas, such as Tacloban and Leyte.

Annual Christmas Bazaar turns Fundraiser for Yolanda Victims

The Company’s entrepreneurial employees opened up their hearts (and wallets!) and allotted a portion of their bazaar earnings to victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda. This came at the heels of an online fundraising drive led by the Human Resources Department, calling for donations to relief efforts not only for the storm but also for the earthquake that jolted Bohol and Cebu in October 2013.

GK Christmas Party

GK Expo 2013 Highlights Social Entrepreneurship

Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Company, Inc. remains steadfast to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts through its partnership with Gawad Kalinga (GK). As part of its yearly tradition, Philippine Prudential recently sponsored a Christmas Party for the beneficiaries of the Philippine Prudential-AMPAP GK Village in Camarin, Caloocan City. Another highlight of the event was the induction of the village’s officers who were warmly welcomed by the entire community.

Gawad Kalinga commemorated its tenth anniversary with a 4-day Social Business Summit meant to promote social entrepreneurship in the Philippines. GK Founder and Chairman Tony Meloto spoke about the vital role of social businesses in reducing poverty and sustaining development, emphasizing the need for entrepreneurs to pursue opportunities that uplift Filipino workers.

The Summit, held at the GK Enchanted Farm in Bulacan, was attended by “kapitbahayans” from all over the country, as well as GK’s numerous supporters, including Philippine Prudential and residents of its GK-AMPAPP Village in Caloocan City. Philippine Prudential TIMES • February 2014
