world class clubbing Pacha, new york Overlooking the Hudson River stands Pacha New York, one of the city’s most iconic night clubs. The 46th Street Manhattan venue was built between 1910 and 1916 and as the “E. & J. Burke Warehouse” – importers and bottlers of Bass ale and Guinness stout – before a more recent incarnation as the Sound Factory nightclub, which closed in 2005. Now Pacha’s only US club, there’s aptly four to the floors of this luxury 2600 capacity, 30,000 square foot venue. This includes the first floor main room with its award winning Infinite Audio sound system, German imported Dynacord Alpha concept speakers and walls of LED panels; a second floor mezzanine, VIP level which overlooks main floor; a ‘funky room’ on the third named after Pacha Ibiza’s pre-club lounge with girls dancing in a shower; and the 400 capacity Pachita (aka ‘little Pacha’) sitting on top. Not to mention the local DJs, merchandise store, cloak room

and bar in the basement. It’s everything you’d expect of the Pacha franchise (the name loosely translates to ‘the Kings life’), the brand created from an Ibizan finca in 1967 by brothers Ricardo and Pita Urgell, which now boasts clubs in nineteen cities worldwide. One of the newest members of the family, Pacha NY is a club renowned for elevating house and trance artists on the brink of breakthrough and paying homage to the biggest DJs and producers both sides of the Atlantic. It’s seen some legendary pairings in its time too: Deadmau5 opening for James Zabiela February 2008; Guetta with Will.i.am and a surprise performance by Fergie in March 2010 and the memorable Carl Cox and Danny Tenaglia mega set back on Sept 30th 2006.
