Istituto Comprensivo “F. Crispi” – Ragusa a.s. 2020/2021 Focus of the experimentation: «Garden in the classroom: The seed germination and its growing process» Classe: 2D Professoresse: - Prof.ssa Occhipinti - Prof.ssa Tumino Alunne: Flavia Nifosì, Irene Tagliavia
Purpose of the sperimentation: observe how a new plant develops from the seed Required material: ■ Rocket seeds ■ Recycled containers ■ Topsoil ■ Cotton wool ■ Water
Method 1. We fill the vessel with soil
2. We fill a container with cotton wool
3. We place a few seeds in each vase
4. Sprinkle some water on the soil and on the cotton
in
order to always keep it humid
Here is our seedbed. We place some containers in the classroom in a dark place, at a temperature between 19 and 25 ° C and others outside

Remarks

The first organ that grow is the radicle which grow downwards in search of water and mineral salts. The stem comes out of the ground. The first leaves grow.

After two weeks here’swhat we observe

Afer about a month here is what we observe

Our rocket is ready to make a salad A plant has grow from the small rocket seed

Conclusion

The soil is not a necessary element for germination. After a week we can observe that the seeds germinate in the soil but also in the cotton

Light is not important for germination.

After a week we can observe that the seeds germinate even in the classroom kept in the dark.
