MaRiona Visa Barbosa es profesora del grado en Comunicación y Periodismo Audiovisual de la Universitat de Lleida . Sus líneas de investigación versan en torno al análisis de las identidades en los medios de comunicación y en concreto la representación de la maternidad . Los resultados de sus investigaciones se han publicado en libros y revistas de impacto a nivel nacional e internacional .

eRica BRiones Vozmediano, Humanista especialista en Estudios de Género, se doctoró en Salud Pública y es profesora Lectora en la Facultad de Enfermería y Fisioterapia de la Universitat de Lleida . Su investigación y publicaciones se centran en los determinantes sociales de la salud, con especial énfasis en el género .

M. caRMe FigueRola ejerce como profesora de Filología Francesa en la Universidad de Lleida . Sus investigaciones se centran preferentemente en la literatura francesa de los siglos XIX a XXI . This book investigates the spaces of interaction between Portuguese and Brazilian modernists—specifically Oswald de Andrade, Augusto de Campos and Haroldo de Campos, Ronald de Carvalho, António Ferro, Fernando Pessoa, Mário de Sá-Carneiro—and their interpretation of nation . Most importantly, the way in which their work echoes and transfigures the Ulysses myth, to be termed Portuguese Ulyssism by Brazilian Gilberto Freyre in his reading of Luís Vaz de Camões’s epic poem The Lusiads, is analyzed, underlining the presence of a postcolonial Ulysses in the Lusophone world . The trope of the shipwreck is central to the creative production of these Atlantic modernists who, outside of their respective national literatures, interact beyond the territories of nation-states through texts on exile, national identity, and colonialism . In addition to the renowned The Lusiads, the texts studied include two issues of the Luso-Brazilian quarterly Orpheu (1915) and António Ferro’s contributions to Brazil’s Klaxon (1922, in celebration of the centenary of Brazil’s political independence from Portugal); Oswald de Andrade’s Anthropophagic Manifesto (1928) and an unpublished letter to Ferro; Fernando Pessoa’s poem “Ulysses” in Message (1934); and Haroldo de Campos’s Galaxies (1984) and “Finismundo: The Last Voyage” (1997) . In A Postcolonial Ulysses in the Lusophone World, relocations and transfigurations of the Ulysses myth inform a dialogue between the modernists of Portugal and Brazil through texts on exile, national identity, and colonialism .

Her doctorate was fully funded by the Portuguese Fundação da Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) . Mia Couto has been recognised internationally as one of the most important African authors of our times . His rapidly growing opus shifts fluidly between various modes of writing, mixing historical elements with poetic and autobiographic ones, in often unpredictable and intellectually challenging ways . With each new book, the writer multiplies various original wor(l) ds, creating new challenges for his readers . Each of Couto’s texts opens up a rhizomic world which in turn contains (an)other world(s), inviting us to review and adjust our earlier interpretations of his oeuvre as a whole . In The Worlds of Mia Couto a diverse group of literary experts sets out to explore Mia Couto’s oeuvre in relation not only to the imaginary worlds created by the author but also to the complex geographical, cultural and literary contexts that are woven into the texture of his work . While Couto has increasingly received scholarly attention, the international connections and connectivities of his work have been largely neglected so far . This book endeavours to show that Couto’s work can be read beyond its particular Mozambican and Lusophone context by paying attention to the broader African and global literary contexts, including Latin America, Asia and Europe . Mia Couto’s work is, for instance, of particular interest for rethinking, from the margins, established concepts of «World Literature», «globalisation» and the «postcolonial» . The various chapters of The Worlds of Mia Couto focus thus on some of the – often unexpected – international connections across his fictional and non-fictional work beyond the Lusophone literary space, crossing cultural, linguistic and gender boundaries .
