Grand Opening at the Father Ray Foundation’s purpose built Sports area

Thanks to the amazing generosity of local sportspeople of Pattaya, we are delighted to present the materialisation of a two year dream for ourselves and primary fundraisers Ronnie Ryan and Mick Ramshaw from The Bunker Bar, Pattaya’s foremost post-golf hostelry. They were admirably aided and abetted by William Macey and the Pattaya Sports Club. At the opening ceremony we invited Khun Ronnie to kick the first ball across the new Sports area into the goal! Ronnie Ryan was the original volunteer football coach at Father Ray Foundation Drop in Centre in Thepprasit Road (opp Soi 15) and it is largely due to his persistence that this magnificent Sports area is built. The multi-purpose area can be used for many other physical activities besides football and on the opening day we were treated to a Volley Ball match before enjoying dinner with the students. Our next major project at the Father Ray Foundation Outreach and Drop in Centre is the building of a ‘Half Way House’, funds (over 1.1 million Baht) have been donated by the “Danish Foundation for Pattaya”. The building will be completed by the end of this summer and accommodate six street kids, classrooms and computer room. The Father Ray Foundation is caring for 850 abused, abandoned and isolated children and disabled young adults all of whom need shelter, food, clothing, healthcare and education. To support the Father Ray Foundation please visit online www.fr-ray.org/donate or Tel: 038 716 628 for more information.

Auto Alliance Golf Scramble

There were big prizes to be won, sparkling entertainment to enjoy and big money donated to Father Ray foundation! Thank you auto alliance and your customers for 600,000 baht! Two hundred and forty four golfers eagerly set off with their caddies to take part in the AutoAlliance Charity Scramble. First stop of the day, however, was a haunting performance performed by the musical students from Father Ray Foundation School for the Blind which was a great start to the day at the luxurious Pattana Golf and Sports Resort, Siracha City. The Directors of Auto Alliance, Rayong’s most important spare parts supplier, and a Ford/Mazda affiliated company, had invited their customers from all along the Eastern Seaboard to enjoy a day of golf and help feed the 850 abused, abandoned children and disabled young adults that Father Ray Foundation cares for in Pattaya, Thailand. “Father Ray Foundation never turns away a needy child” In addition to the lure of possibly attaining that “hole in one” to win a bright green Mazda, the golfers were treated so some of the most exciting entertainment in the area. Father Ray Foundation boys from The Children’s Home performed a memorable presentation of Thai Boxing. The youngsters, oldest 14 and youngest 7, showed admirably the focus and precision required to be proficient at this sport. Stars of the night though, were the Father Ray Vocational School students’ Wheelchair Brake Dancing troup. Two hundred sportsmen from Thailand, Europe and Japan, sat on the edges of their seats, holding their breath as the fearless young disabled men performed near impossible feats of courage and strength. We thank Auto Alliance and their customers for their donation which can provide rice to feed all our 850 children for six months; by which time we trust organisation of the 2nd Auto Alliance Charity Golf Scramble will be underway, attracting an even bigger turnout of golfers. It’s a great day! Meantime, if you’d like to support Father Ray Foundation children and disabled young adults, please donate money to www.fr-ray.org Tel: (+66) (0)387 166 28 pr@fr-ray.org www.fr-ray.org
