Honeymoon by the sea for film Chinese film stars

Chinese celebrities Zhang Qian and Dicky Cheung met doing a TV series and, after a marriage in Manila, spent their honeymoon at Dusit Thani in Pattaya. Dicky is best known for his Black Panther warrior movies and has a passion for Kung Fu. A Hindu ritual ceremony was performed at Soi Nernplubwan to invite emperor gods to possess human bodies. Mike’s celebrates Chinese New Year

At Mike Shopping Mall’s parking lot on 2nd road, Pattaya City, Mr. Surat Mekawarakoon, Chairman of Mike Business Group, presided over the Chinese New Year ceremony to celebrate the year of the Ox. The event started with a dragon dance and Chinese acrobats to entertain the shoppers. Mrs. Suntana Mekawarakoon, Mr. Surat’s mother, handed out red envelopes which contained cash to young children. For the adults, there were many special offers and shopping discounts.

Charity Club raises nearly 500,000 baht

The Charity Club of Pattaya recently held its charity gala dinner at All Season’s Hotel, Pattaya, and raised 470,038 baht in a capacity filled room. The money will be used for a variety of charitable projects, including those devoted to helping children with special needs.

Japanese media visit Pattaya

Dusit Thani Pattaya recently welcomed representatives of the Japanese media from Tokyo and other Japanese cities, together with the Thai tourist authority, to promote the eastern seaboard to Japanese tourists.

Hospital donates Mercy provisions

The Bangkok Hospital Pattaya’s international marketing division led by Neil Maniquiz and Janya Rattanaliam visited the Mercy Center with welcome donations of food for the children.

Senior citizens register to receive financial and medical aid

Social Welfare Department, Pattaya City, registered persons 60 years of age and over, who were not able to help themselves, in order to give them financial and medical aid. They can also borrow money up to 30,000 baht. In order to receive financial and medical aid, a person must be over 60 years, and he/she must reside in the city of Pattaya, an ID and a house registration book must be presented to the officials. Every senior citizen was very pleased with this service despite the fact it was not a huge amount of money. Since January 15th, 2009, 400 senior citizens had registered so far.

Mr Rattipong Kanenin, DJ & PR of floating market and Ms Preamprach Laohawirot, a car magazine columnist, were engaged on Makha Puja Day at the floating market where the couple met. They decided to celebrate their engagement on this famous Buddha day to give them good luck and happy relationship. Offering of food to the monks were also held on the same day to commemorate the special day.

Mayor hands awards to Little Chinese Girl

Ittiphol Khunplume, Pattaya mayor, was present to hand out the certificates to the winners of the Miss Little Chinese Girl pageant. This had been organised by the city authorities to celebrate the Year of the Ox with fun activities in late January during Chinese New Year. There were performers from the seven regions of China with dragon dances, operas, acrobat demonstrations and the like. The Little Chinese Girl competition was aimed to find the most adorable and talented child from 30 contestants. The winner was Jarinya Jaroenporn, aged 8 and attending Sawangboriboon elementary school. She received 6,000 baht in prize money as well as a sash and a trophy for keepsakes.
