There are a wide variety of photo booth styles out there. Traditional enclosed booths, GIF kiosks, slow motion video, and “open air� setups with a photographer like Fish Eye Fun all have pros and cons. The style of booth you pick should be subjective to both your personal preference and budget. Regardless of the booth style you choose, there are a few less fun but very important things to consider when picking a photo booth company for your reception. 40
1. PRIMARY SERVICE
You’re more likely to have a better experience with a company that specializes in photo booths over a company that offers one as an add-on upgrade. Though there are companies that provide multiple high quality services, it’s hard to be the best at something and a jack-of-all-trades at the same time.
2. SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE
Good photo booth companies will have a website and Facebook page with lots photos from previous events. Make sure the quality is not only good, but also consistent from one event to the next. You should also check places like the Perfect Wedding Guide website for reviews.
3. UNLIMITED PRINTS
When asking about “unlimited prints,” be sure to clarify how many prints the booth will print PER TURN. Will it make enough prints for each person in the photos to have their own copy or is it limited to two strips per turn with “unlimited turns?”
4. BACKUP EQUIPMENT
Every computer, printer and camera will fail eventually and will likely do so without any warning. Make sure the booth will have quality backup equipment ON-SITE. A backup printer doesn’t do much good if it’s stored at an office 45 minutes away.
5. BACKUP STAFF
Equipment is not the only thing to crap out at the last minute with no warning. What is the backup plan if the person scheduled to run the booth calls in sick or has a personal emergency? Finally, all things social media like GIFs, Instagram and live Facebook albums are awesome. We love it when someone makes a Fish Eye Fun photo their profile picture. But there is something special about a real print you can hold in your hand, put on your cubical wall, or share with Grandma and Grandpa. A print on your refrigerator will be visible a lot longer than a GIF on your timeline. 41
