It’s that time of the year again - open enrollment period! All eligible full-time employees who wish to be enrolled in medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for 2019-2020 must enroll, regardless of current enrollment.

This year, the Human Resources Team will be working with Lockton and Cenntenial, third parties who assist with administering our benefits, in hosting informational meetings and conference calls from March 17-22nd. See details to the left. During these sessions, the Lockton and Cenntenial teams will be diving into detail on all 401k and insurance benefits available for full-time employees and will be opening the floor for questions. We will also be assisting employees on enrolling in benefits. Don’t miss out!

Patriot announced the opening of our newest office at 3065 Golden State Frontage Road in Fresno, CA. We continue to expand operations throughout the state to meet customer demand for service, with the new Fresno location enabling added support for both current and new customers. The location is a multi-use space offering both administrative support and technical / operational capabilities to customers for the full suite of Patriot service capabilities, including emergency response, waste management, transportation, and other environmental services.

The new location has the added benefit of proximity to Patriot’s recently opened Kern County waste disposal

Originally designed to service the petroleum industry by treating non-hazardous solid waste, the facility’s capabilities extend beyond that to include processing both solid and liquid waste for additional business sectors like food and beverage, agricultural, general manufacturing, and others.

“The new facility enables us to maximize our service coverage throughout the state—offering customers turnkey, cost-effective solutions from waste management, transportation and disposal, safely performed by our prepared and professional personnel,” says Josh Teves, VP Operations of Northern California and Fixed Facilities.

Nicholaus has exemplified consistent professionalism, has the willingness to go above and beyond what is needed, and practices excellent client service. Not only has he shown excellence in his own performance, but he has also been instrumental in training newer employees. He just finished a $100,000 job at Cemex with LMH, one of our spill brokers, and is currently running another $100,000 job for Primm stateline for Broadbent Associates. Thank you for your continuous excellence!

Wastewater management highlights Eugene (see picture to the right) as an “all-star employee” who never says no to anything asked of him and always steps up to the plate. One of his most recent accomplishments is him taking and passing the Certification Test for California Wastewater Environment Association’s Industrial Waste Treatment Plant Operator Grade 1, which is an important, specific, and needed Certification for the Wastewater OC Team to do their work. Congratulations, Eugene! We are all very proud of you!

Michael Tabush

Michael Tabush has been a huge part of our Mira Loma office’s success. He has managed the waste that comes through the office in the most proficient manner. He has also been available to assist other offices with hazmat and labpacking services. Michael has always illustrated professionalism and integrity. He truly represents our motto of being prepared and professional. Michael is willing to go anywhere to get the job done and has assisted most of the offices at one time or another. He is truly an asset to the team.

Stephanie Fr anco

Bakersfield Stephanie (see picture to the right) has been a valuable player since she started with Patriot in 2015. She started as a Billing Specialist, and through her work ethic and dedication to her responsibilities, she has risen to the position of Office Manager with the entire Bakersfield administrative group reporting to her. She is routinely willing to go the extra mile to make sure our customers are taken care of, and her office is performing to the Patriot standard. Recently, she put in extra time working both on consecutive Saturdays and Sundays for the Sentinel Peak and Berry Petroleum spills to ensure the customer received their daily “burn rate” and make sure the invoices for these larger projects and spills were processed and submitted on a daily basis.

Stephanie is an integral part of the continued success of the Bakersfield Office and to Patriot as a whole.

Richmond

Raj has been handling waste between both of Patriot’s Richmond and Sacramento locations. He has been putting in a ton of more hours than normal and is going above and beyond for what he is expected and asked to do. His commitment, hard work, and dedication has definitely been noticed and appreciated. Keep it up!

There was an instance recently when Tom Salazar, Operations Manager, noticed one of our Patriot vaccum trucks pulled over on an on-ramp. Tom pulled over to check to see if everything was alright.

Tony expressed how he felt a little tired, so he pulled over to walk around and try to wake himself up before proceeding on the road.

Thank you, Tony, for taking the proper safety precautions and setting a leading example for the team!

Long Beach

Not only does Ryan (see picture to the left) appear to be one of the most respected leaders on staff, he also always presents an exceptional job site upon visits from the Health and Safety Team.

His paperwork is in order, his sites are clean and organized, and he has one of the best rescue set-ups the Safety Team has seen. He calls and welcomes safety to his jobs rather than attempt to avoid them.

He is engaged and professional with our clients. Ryan gives his time and effort to cook for our company picnics, which shows his passion for the people we all work for with on a daily basis.

Nicholas brings 10+ years of sales experience to Patriot and served 12 years in the US Marine Corps. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and has spent the last two years working with containerized waste and project management. He enjoys helping customers find solutions to their problems and satisfying their needs.

Kevin has worked 24 years in contracting for power, oil and gas, refining, infrastructure, mining, building, engineering, high-speed rail, and maintenance services in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Australia.

Some of his trainngs and certifications include MSHA Instructor, Construction Health Safety TechnicianCHST, Occupational Health Safety Technician-OHST, Certified Mine Safety Professional, OSA Leadership Training, OSHA 30, and Leadership Succession Planning / Career Development.

Lia has 15+ years of banking and accounting experience. At her previous job at Trident Dental Lab, she served as a Junior Accountant. When she isn’t working, she enjoys jogging, listening to music, and exploring new places and food.

Derek was previously a Safety Director for 8 years in the environmental industry and before that was a Project Manager for 3 years. In addition to obtaining his Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, he is also a Certified CPR instructor and is certified to teach 8-hour and 40-hour HAZMAT trainings. He also served in the Airforce for 4 years and prides himself in being a family man.

Nayomi brings 15+ years of accounting experience to the team. She previously worked for Kroger Speciality Pharmacy as an Accounting Manager for 3.5 years and before that, worked at World Oil Corporation. She obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Economics from California State University, Santa Barbara.

Prior to joining the Patriot team, Tom was initially exposed to accounting, computer networking, and forecasting, while serving in the U.S. Navy. After the military, he began his career in Credit and Collection / Accounts Receivable as a military Billing Clerk and Assistant Manager, Credit, and Collections. He gained work knowledge of the credit review process, implementation of new procedures and policies, cease future cash-flow hindrance, and interaction with thirdparty companies regarding accounts receivable issues.

Stefani has been in the oil and gas industry for 9 years and in safety for 5 years now. She was previously a safety coordinator in the electrical field.

Barbara has 17+ years experience in accounting. Prior to working at Patriot, she worked for a paint manufacturing company for 19 years in Los Angeles.

She loves camping and going on road trips with her husband and two sons.
