Sports medicine is a specialized branch of healthcare that is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries related to sports and exercise. This area has advanced dramatically in the last few decades, fusing technology, science, and realworld knowledge to improve the performance and wellbeing of athletes at all levels. Sports medicine is vital for maximizing athletic performance and guaranteeing safe involvement in physical activities for all athletes, from weekend warriors to professional athletes. Organized sports are becoming more and more popular, and this has led to a growing recognition of these activities as severe health concerns.
Today, orthopedics, physical therapy, sports nutrition, psychology, and biomechanics are just a few of the many professions and fields that are under the umbrella of sports medicine. With this approach, athletes can receive complete care that is customized to meet their individual needs. Sports medicine specialists work to prevent injuries, treat both acute and chronic illnesses, and promote a quick and safe return to activity. The foundation of sports medicine is prevention. Sports medicine specialists can dramatically lower the frequency of injuries by acknowledging the risk factors beforehand putting preventive practices into place. This

includes instructing athletes on appropriate training methods, offering advice on the handling of equipment, and encouraging general physical fitness. When injuries do occur, it is critical to receive a precise diagnosis and efficient care. Diagnostic imaging advances like MRIs and ultrasounds have completely changed how we evaluate and comprehend injuries related to sports. A mix of physical therapy, medicine, and lifestyle changes is constantly used to treat injuries that doesn’t need surgeries. Rehabilitation aims to improve an athlete’s overall performance as well as return them to their natural function before the injury. Athletes may also receive assistance from sports psychologists in overcoming the psychological and emotional obstacles connected to injury and recuperation. Enhancing performance is another essential component of sports medicine. Sports medicine specialists can assist athletes in maximizing their training and achieving optimal performance by utilizing the principles of nutrition and exercise science. The individual needs of the athlete’s sport and position

are used specifically to create training programs, food plans, and mental conditioning strategies.
The salary for a profession in sports medicine can vary widely based on their specific role, experience, location, and the type of employer. Depending on these factors a sports medicine physician can make up to $150k – $300k yearly, and up to $65+ hourly. An athletic trainer can make up to $60k+ yearly and around $20 – $30 hourly. Physical therapists make a salary that typically ranges around $70k.
In conclusion, Sports medicine is a dynamic and multifaced field that plays a significant role in the health and performance of athletes. Through a combination of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, sports medicine professionals strive to keep athletes at their best. As technology and research continue to advance, the future of sports medicine holds great promise for enhancing the well-being and success of athletes worldwide.

My name is Moustapha Ndao. I am currently a sophomore at the University of Iowa studying human physiology. After receiving my bachelor’s degree and finishing medical school I plan on becoming a sports medicine doctor working for England national soccer team. I want to be a Sport medicine doctor because ever since I was a kid, I have wanted to help people who got hurt playing sports.
Sports medicine is a field that blends medical science with athletic performance, focusing on the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries related to sports and exercise. It encompasses a range of disciplines, including orthopedics, physiotherapy, sports psychology, nutrition, and biomechanics, among others. In the context of professional sports teams like the England national soccer team, sports medicine plays a crucial role in optimizing players’ health and performance.
Working for the England national soccer team in sports medicine would likely involve a multidisciplinary approach. Sports medicine professionals, such as team doctors, physiotherapists, nutritionists, and strength and conditioning coaches, collaborate closely to support the players throughout their training and competitive seasons.
The field of sports medicine, particularly in specialties like orthopedic surgery, faces significant diversity challenges. According to a report by Stat News, less than
2% of practitioners in this field are Black, only 2.2% are Hispanic, and a mere 0.4% are Native American. These statistics highlight a significant lack of racial and ethnic diversity within orthopedic surgery, in contrast with the demographics of the general population.
Diversity in medicine not only enhances cultural competence but also improves patient care outcomes. Patients from diverse backgrounds may feel more understood and receive more personalized care when treated by healthcare professionals who share their cultural experiences.
This is one of the driving factors behind my ambition to become a sports medicine doctor. The impact of such low diversity is profound: diversity in medicine not only enriches cultural competence but also enhances patient care outcomes. When healthcare providers share cultural experiences with patients from diverse backgrounds, it fosters greater understanding and facilitates more personalized care.
In a few years when I achieve my goal of becoming a sports medicine doctor, I plan on giving back by volunteering and helping kids in the USA and developing countries. I plan on going overseas often to offer free consultations and surgeries to kids in need with organizations like Doctors without Borders.

In today’s fast-paced world, the adage “Time is Money” holds truer than ever before. This age-old idiom emphasizes the importance of utilizing our time wisely and recognizing its inherent value. Understanding this concept can lead to a more efficient and productive life, both personally and professionally. In this article, we’ll delve into the significance of time as a finite resource and explore how adopting this mindset can positively impact our lives.
Time is a limited resource available to every individual. Unlike money, which can be earned, saved, and spent, time is fleeting and cannot be recouped once it passes. This realization compels us to make the most of the time we have, emphasizing the need to prioritize and allocate it effectively.
Managing time effectively is a skill that can be honed to maximize productivity. By organizing tasks, setting goals, and creating schedules, individuals
can optimize their efficiency and make the most of their available time. Prioritizing important activities, eliminating distractions, and learning to say ‘no’ to non-essential commitments are all part of effective time management.
Time and productivity are closely intertwined. Successful individuals recognize that achieving goals and fulfilling responsibilities require consistent effort and focus. By utilizing time wisely, one can accomplish more in a shorter span, leading to increased productivity and ultimately, success.
Every decision we make regarding how we spend our time carries an opportunity cost. Choosing to invest time in one activity means forgoing other potential opportunities. When we understand the value of time, we become more discerning about the tasks we undertake, ensuring that they align with our priorities and long-term objectives.
Viewing time as a form of currency can be a transformative mindset. Just as we evaluate the cost and benefits of financial investments, we can assess how we invest our time. Engaging in activities that enhance personal growth, knowledge acquisition, skill development, and relationships can be considered as investing in oneself, leading to long-term dividends.
While acknowledging the importance of time, it is equally crucial to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Recognizing that time is a valuable resource should not result in burnout or neglecting personal well-being. Prioritizing self-care, leisure, and quality time with loved ones is essential for a fulfilling and balanced life.
The concept of time also influences our decision-making process. Time constraints often compel us to make efficient choices, encouraging us to consider alternatives, evaluate risks, and make informed decisions promptly. By recognizing the value of time, we can develop a sense of urgency that fuels our progress.
To summarize, “Time is Money” serves as a powerful reminder that time is a precious asset that should not be squandered or taken for granted. Embracing this concept empowers individuals to make conscious choices, manage their time effectively, and work towards their goals. By optimizing productivity, balancing priorities,

and investing time wisely, we can create a fulfilling and successful life. Remember, time is a resource that, once lost, can never be regained, so make every moment count.

Worldwide there are over 4.48 billion people tapped into social media. So there is no surprise that an estimated 50 million people contribute to the creator economy and 29% of U.S. children want to become a youtuber or vlogger. It’s a big thing right now, everyone wants to be some type of social media influencer or content creator. Which is understandable, I mean, it’s fun, unique and can be a fairly easy way to make money. Even if this is not what you want to do as a career or profession many people with already acclaimed fame/ notoriety will make frequent content and post on the side to receive extra income. My concern is that this profession may not end up being the safest of options for anyone, but in this case specifically the children that are being introduced to these social media platform deals. Within the entertainment industry we hear about exploitation victims all the time. from artists like Prince, TLC, New Edition etc.. All the way down to much acclaimed child actors like Drew Barrymore and Brooke Shields. The common shock factor is, these actors will have been the worlds favorite and most acclaimed, then years later come out with their stories of exploitation and neglect within the industry. Most recently, some widely known controversy has been centered around the tv network nickelodeon. This controversy surfaced after the much loved actress Jennette McCurdy who played as a co star on the show “Icarly” came out about her poor experience working with this network as a child actor. On August 9th of 2022 Janette published her book “I’m Glad My Mom Died” where she goes into detail about dealing with exploitation amongst
many other things throughout her career within the entertainment Industry.
In the book Jennette describes how for most of her childhood all the way up to her early 20s she was guilted into acting and overworked by her mother in order to make money for her family. This is the case for many child entertainers. According to Buzzfeed.com Demi Lovato was the family “breadwinner” which led to an “imbalance and strained relationship with their parents. It is important to consider how these professionals most likely have lawyers, agents, and managers to represent them yet, there are stories upon stories about the frequent manipulation that continues to occur.
Furthermore, another big issue is young actors with multi million dollar contracts and dealings with no guidance or supervision of how their money is being used. Repeatedly we hear tragic stories of child actors being sent to rehab for spending a bulk of their money on drugs then abusing those substances, or they will have made outrageous purchases with their earnings then the money runs out which leads to them going broke and filing for bankruptcy. Stars like Macaulay Culkin from “Home Alone”, Jodie Sweetin from “Full House”, And Lindsey Lohan from movies like “The Parent Trap” and “Mean Girls”, have been in headlines about these exact issues repeatedly.
My worry is that similar circumstances will start to take place Within the content creation world. There are young children and on platforms like youtube, tik tok, and instagram who are mega viral social media stars making
The Internet has impacted our world, transforming how we communicate, learn, work, manage our finances, access entertainment, and shop. Once, social media was only used for posting pictures and communicating with family and friends. Nowadays, you can access everything on the Internet.
The Internet has also transformed the education sector, making it easier for people to access information and learn new skills. With just a few clicks, we can find a wealth of knowledge on any topic we’re interested in. Often at no cost! The Internet has also made it possible
lots of money off of what they post or partnership and sponsor deals. According to zippercruiter.com “as of June 30, 2023 the average annual pay for a social media influencer in the United States is 57,561 a year” many of these mega viral influencers are young children or teenagers.
Child actors have things like the Coogan law in place to implement some precaution and regulations when handling the child’s earnings. This is not the case for child influencers. Fortunately there is now a growing movement in congress to pass laws to protect child influencers similar to the ones that cover child actors.
Currently Chris McCarty the owner of “Quit Clicking Kids” which she says is “primarily an advocacy organization aimed at spreading awareness of this issue , just because it is such a new industry”, is ultimately trying to get bills passed that will require child influencers to set aside a percentage of revenue generated into escrow, and also when the children reach a certain age they can request that any video of them as a child be deleted. These things are very good steps in the right direction in order to keep child influencers safe and protected within this new upcoming industry. I encourage you to spread awareness about these bills and help however you can to get the laws passed, you never know one day the laws that are not in place could directly affect you!

Social media has become a space entirely of its own. Initially used for people to interact with friends online, many people have used social sites to engage millions outside their personal circles. It gives creators platforms and notoriety beyond what anyone had previously deemed possible. Many people in the past who have gained fame through these methods have been considered “Social Media Stars” and “Influencers” confined within said space. As social media changes, people have been able to grow beyond and break into the entertainment industry.

Before more people transitioned into the industry through social media, everyone saw one of the first and most consequential transitions from making content to creating mainstream music in Justin Beiber. His career launch was the initiation and precursor to being stamped in the entertainment industry through viral Youtube videos, and it’s only suitable to acknowledge his hand in being one of the first to do this.
Black People have historically been under-represented in the media, especially in film and TV. Recently Many have been leveraging the amount of engagement social media makes available to them to gain actual recognition and even jobs and meetings in the film industry.
Recently when the new Spider-Man Across the SpiderVerse movie released its initial trailer 14-year-old Preston Mutanga animated a parody trailer in the form of Lego characters. This gained traction relatively instantly due to Twitter’s nature of trending topics and phrases being displayed, and the talent and high quality shown in the parody trailer.
American culture, they have amassed over 6.4 million Youtube Subscribers and sold out their annual large gaming and anime convention Dream Con with over 22,000 attendees. This gained the attention of various mainstream celebrities.
Specifically Issa Rae and Micheal B. Jordan, prominent producers of their shows and movies like Insecure and Creed III respectively; Recognized Mark and RDC’s talent and invested in helping them create their original anime story: a form of Japanese cartoon that has become popular in the U.S called ‘Dark Lights’. Due to the amount of social media engagement, fans have created mountains of anticipation for the project. The project will be set in an alternate modern-day America and follow a cast of African Americans, it’s one of the only things we’ve seen like it. They’ve also most recently announced that they’ll be working on a new film with Jordan Peele. Social media is opening doors for young black creators to tell their original stories, even sometimes without the help of already-established names in Hollywood.
“Everyone saw one of the first and most consequential transitions from making content to creating mainstream music in Justin Beiber”
When the Spider-Verse team noticed the trailer they immediately attempted to contact and hire the creator stating “We found out that it was a 14-year-old kid who made it and we were like, ‘This looks incredibly sophisticated for a nonadult, non-professional to have made”. Through this recognition, Mutanga had the opportunity to create a hilarious and entertaining piece of the movie in the same Lego format he used for his original trailer. This will be incredibly impactful in Mutanga’s future seeing as the film has done $600 million to date at the global box office. Black people have not only been invited to add to existing projects but it has also allowed them to create original content of their own
Starting as Youtube personalities, RDCWorld1 consists of members Mark Phillips, Affiong Harris, Leland Manigo, Desmond Johnson, Benjamin Skinner, Dylan Patel, and Johnathan Newton. Through their skits about basketball, video games, anime, music, and African

Ariel Harris a black female film school student and U.S. Navy Veteran is producing her own series Pledge. She used engagement through her TikTok videos to fund and gain an audience for a prequel episode, so she’d have something to show significant companies. In doing this she got meetings with major companies like Netflix and even got invited to the BET Awards. Her show isn’t in production yet, but TikTok has allowed her a foot in the door and access to the Hollywood scene. Her show is set to follow an HBCU’s vampire fraternity group and is an original concept and black story.
In conclusion, social media is becoming more and more instrumental in young Black people’s advancement and insertion in the film and entertainment industry. Whether it be in animation or the production of shows, Black people are taking the film industry by storm and inserting themselves with an agency.

Keeping up with your health is important to keep track of. By having great healthy habits, you can have a clearer mind and you can achieve your greatest goals and dreams. An example of having great health is exercising daily. By exercising, it could prevent many diseases and cancers and increase your energy. Another example is eating the right foods. Food comes into play with how your health will be later down the road in life. According to the World Health Organization, everyone should have at least 400g (about 14.11 oz) of fruit and vegetables per day, this is to ensure that you have the right amount of dietary fiber in your body. In addition, checking the ingredients and calories before buying the food can help you fulfill your journey of a healthy diet.
So, for the same reason as exercising for great wellness, you need to eat the right foods to maintain your health to prevent certain diseases and cancers as well. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, when you have a meal, you are supposed to have 1 egg which represents an ounce of protein, 1 cup of fruit from the fruit group, 1 cup of a vegetable from the vegetable group, a grain such as one slice of bread, and a dairy such as 1 cup of milk. If you need help to figure out what your meal plan should be like you should go to MyPlate.gov. Everyone is different so not all meals are fit for everyone, keep that in mind.
When you do not maintain healthy routines, your life will slowly start to deteriorate. For example, if you stop exercising daily you will burn fewer calories daily, making you gain more weight. Your bones will also get weaker and lose mineral matter and not sleeping can cause your body to slow down. According to the Better Health Channel, the average teenager should be getting at least 8 hours of sleep a day. Without proper rest, your immune system will be less active; the metabolism you have can change drastically as well when you do not give it what it needs. You could be at risk of heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. Poor healthy routines can also take a toll on your mind as well. It could cause an increase in anxiety and depression.
If you practice good healthy routines to maintain your health, your life will be more positive, and you will have an overall better mentality and the energy that you have will be great as well. Having better health physically and mentally can improve your immune system, it can increase your pain tolerance, and increase longevity. It can also improve relationships with other people and help you be more productive in your day-to-day life.

Since the onset of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have seen a massive jump in people’s interest in entrepreneurship in all age groups. Many of you may have seen the rise of the business term and acronym LLC and thought, “What does that mean”? Well here are some facts that I’ve compiled about LLC’s to help you in the event that you decide or have made the decision to start your business journey.
An LLC, short for Limited Liability Company, is a business structure that combines the benefits of a corporation and a sole proprietorship. It provides the owners, known as members, with limited liability protection all while offering malleability in terms of how it is managed and taxed. Basically, this means that in the event that something goes wrong you at the owner are not held 100% liable.
One of the key characteristics of an LLC is the fact that it provides limited liability. This means that it provides personal liability protection for its owners in the way that their personal assets are generally protected from debts, liabilities, and legal requirements of the LLC. In the event of a lawsuit of financial loss, the liability is typically limited to the assets of the company.
This makes it easier for everyday people to become comfortable with the risks of business, as the personal risk is lowered. Liability is defined as responsibility for something, so limited liability essentially means that the owner has less responsibility, meaning that in the event of legal mishap your business will be in jeopardy but not the owner or their finances.
LLCs also provide flexibility in terms of management structure. They can be managed by the members themselves (referred to as membermanaged) or by designated managers who may or may not be members (referred to as managermanaged). This allows members to choose the level of involvement they desire in the day-to-day operations of the business. Not only that, but they also provide flexibility in terms of ownership. Many businesses and corporations have restrictions on how many owners or shareholders can be a part of the company but LLC’s have an unlimited number of members including individuals, corporations, other LLCs, as well as foreign entities.
Compared to corporations, LLCs have fewer formalities and requirements. They generally have less strict record-keeping obligations and are not required to hold annual meetings or follow specific corporate governance procedures like corporations. However, it is still very important to maintain proper documentation and follow any necessary state requirements you may encounter in regards to recordkeeping or other formalities.
It is important to note that certain regulations may vary from state to state. Know that each state has its own set of rules for formation, taxation, and ongoing business compliance.
