TRANSFER GUIDE

When you choose Pennsylvania Western University, your transfer will be seamless and your goals will be a priority. With more than 100 programs to choose from and relevant extracurricular activities, you’ll find your major and your future in one place. We accept credits from accredited two-year and four-year institutions, AP, CLEP/DSST, IB, Joint Service Transcripts and ACE.
You’ve come to the right place. Now you just have to get started. Our simple application procedures help take the complexity out of the admission process.
Apply for free at PennWest.edu/apply using the application fee waiver code TRANSFERPENNWEST. We offer a rolling deadline for admission, which means you don’t need to wait for a certain date to apply and be notified of admission. Note that some programs may have specific deadline requirements, and it’s best to check with Admissions to be certain.
Once you’ve submitted your application, request your official college transcripts be sent by email to admissions@pennwest.edu or by mail to: Office of Admissions, 250 University Avenue, California, PA 15419.
A 2.0 GPA is required to transfer to PennWest, but certain programs may have greater requirements. You may also need to submit high school transcripts or GED equivalency if you have fewer than 12 transferrable credits, or for certain majors (i.e. nursing).
After you’re admitted, our transfer admission experts will evaluate your previous college coursework. This will give you a better understanding of how quickly you can complete your degree with us.
When you are ready to confirm your enrollment at PennWest, submit the $100 Advanced Tuition Deposit to take the next steps for enrollment.
Once you’ve paid your deposit, your courses will be scheduled for you. Also, you will want to consider the following:

We deliver our courses in three ways: An In-Person degree emphasizes traditional courses at one or more of our locations. A Blended degree combines traditional in-person courses with flexible, online educational experiences.
An Online degree is offered 100% online. Any combination of these delivery systems can help you to finish your degree, but including the online component may help you finish your degree faster by giving you the flexibility and the classes you need when you need them.

If you plan to finish your degree by commuting to your chosen campus, it’s important to know that you have access to the same services and support systems as students who live on campus.
Each campus has spaces where you can complete class work or online classes. Whether it’s in our state-of-the-art libraries (library.pennwest.edu/home) or in one of the many lounge spaces on each campus, you’ll have places to get connected to the campus and your fellow students.
Each year, we award $19 million in scholarships to our students. Admitted transfer students will be reviewed for scholarship consideration based upon academic performance from previous college coursework. PennWest awards thousands of dollars to transfer students every year. You’ll want to be one of them.
Your eligibility for transfer scholarships will be determined by filling out the application for admission and review of your college transcripts. Additional university foundation and departmental scholarships are available, too, and incoming transfer students can apply through the General Scholarship Application available in the spring.
Your eligibility for grants and loans will be determined when you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly known as the FAFSA).
Campus student employment opportunities also are available. Our students tend to find employment opportunities in the shops, businesses and restaurants near their chosen campus.
PennWest prides itself on accommodating Military personnel and we want to make certain your past service is honored here. Your military experience can translate into credits earned based on the review of your official Joint Service Transcript (for members of the Army, Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard) or CCAF transcript (Air Force or Space Force).

• Navigate the GI Bill®.
• Join the Veterans Club.
• Get to know vital campus resources.
• Obtain work-study jobs.
By being former military, active duty, a reservist, military spouse or a dependent, you will increase your eligibility for certain scholarships, and earn tuition discounts. Learn more at PennWest.edu/military.
• Transferring to PennWest means you have the opportunity to transfer up to 90 credits toward your major of choice.
• PennWest makes it is easy to transfer by evaluating your credits before you decide on PennWest.
