PASSHE: The State Universities of Pennsylvania
As Pennsylvania’s system of state-owned universities, PASSHE comprises 10 institutions across 14 legacy campuses. We are proud to enroll the most in-state students among all four-year universities in the commonwealth. For students and their families, this means:
• A strong, local network with deep roots in Pennsylvania communities.
• The benefit of a close-knit campus environment paired with the resources of a larger university system.
Affordability Advantage
Concern over college costs is a major stressor for families. You can confidently recommend PASSHE universities for their high-quality education at the lowest possible cost to students. That’s our mission.
• Lower Tuition: Our tuition is over 75% lower than the average four-year university tuition in Pennsylvania.
• Financial Aid Support: We help students navigate and maximize financial aid from all sources — including $150 million in aid from our own universities — making a high-quality degree an attainable investment.
• Long-Term Value: Our affordable cost and career focus translate into excellent long-term value, setting students up for success long after graduation.
Career-Focused Programs Advantage
Students are looking for programs that lead to great jobs. PASSHE universities deliver with:
• Extensive Choices: Undergraduate programs in 246 academic areas and certificate programs in 238 areas are offered to ensure students can find the right fit for their career goals.
• In-Demand Skills: Programs are continually updated to reflect the latest industry trends, and micro-credentials are available to certify specialized skills in emerging job markets.
Student Pathways
Every student’s journey is unique. PASSHE universities support students at every stage:
• Seamless Transfer: We make it easy for students to transfer credits from a community college or another university.
• Dual Enrollment Opportunities: High school students can earn college credit early, giving them a head start and reducing future college costs.
• First-Year Students: PASSHE universities offer resources to help with the transition to college life, foster academic and social engagement, and build a strong foundation for future success.
Career-Ready Graduates
Graduating students are prepared for their careers. PASSHE universities emphasize hands-on experience through:
• Industry Partnerships: Collaborations with top Pennsylvania employers provide access to invaluable internships, co-ops, and job simulations.
• Professional Networks: Students build professional skills and connections that give them a competitive edge in the job market.
• Leadership and Service: A wide array of student leadership, service-learning, and club opportunities fosters essential leadership skills.
• Global Perspectives: Students can broaden their horizons and gain a global perspective through international study programs.
