PASSHE Fast Facts

10 universities. 14 historic campuses.

Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) is the state-owned public university system of the commonwealth. With 10 universities and 14 historic campuses, PASSHE enrolls the most Pennsylvania in-state students among all four-year colleges or universities in the commonwealth.

PASSHE students receive a high-quality education at an affordable price, which provides long-term value and success throughout their careers and lives.

Save with PASSHE

PASSHE universities provide the most affordable four-year college options in Pennsylvania. Tuition prices have been frozen for seven consecutive years, and the total cost for students, including tuition, room, board, and other expenses, has remained nearly flat for five years.

PASSHE universities also help students maximize their financial aid opportunities from federal, state, institutional, and private sources.

PASSHE’s commitment to providing high-quality education at an affordable cost makes a degree from a PASSHE university a valuable investment.

PASSHE at a Glance:

• Most in-state students among all four-year options in PA

• 80,000+ students

• 88% PA residents

• 30% first-generation

Student Affordability:

• Lowest-cost four-year option in PA

• 7 consecutive years with frozen tuition rate

• 32% low-income Pell recipients

• 70% of students receive financial aid

Tremendous academic choices

PASSHE universities offer more than 788 degrees, programs, and certificate programs in more than 333 academic areas, offering students a wide range of academic choices. They continue adding new programs to prepare students for their future careers, equipping them with the most up-to-date skills needed for emerging job trends. Universities align degree programs with workforce demands and provide micro-credentials. Students can combine these credentials to tailor their education and certify their skills and expertise for potential employers.

Transfer success

PASSHE universities enroll the largest proportion of new transfer students compared to state-related and private 4-year institutions in Pennsylvania. Policies and agreements ensure credits are seamlessly transferred, and transfer students are prepared for the most in-demand jobs.

PASSHE universities also provide qualified high school students with the opportunity to earn college credits while still enrolled in high school.

Career-ready learning

PASSHE is collaborating with leading employers across the state to improve students’ access to internships, co-ops, and job simulation opportunities. Universities provide excellent opportunities for students to build professional networks and develop essential skills to enhance competitiveness in the job market.

Additionally, students can participate in student government and service learning and join various clubs and organizations to cultivate essential leadership skills. They can also expand their intellectual horizons and gain global perspectives through diverse international study opportunities.
