Welcome to A.J. Kelly Park and the National Premier Leagues Qld competition matches between Power and Easts.
What a week it has been!
The Australia Cup last Friday against A League Wellington Phoenix was a fantastic night despite the heartbreaking result. A big crowd and a fantastic atmosphere here at A.J. Kelly Park on the night will again live long in the memories and we are all very proud of the team.
Being on the national stage again continues to showcase our fantastic club and I would like to thank all our volunteers who also made the night a success.
The following night on Saturday A.J. Kelly Park hosted the inaugural Kappa Pro Series Grand Final between Gold Coast Knights and Olympic FC. Football Queensland provided a written letter after the event congratulating the club “The success of the event would not have been possible without the exceptional facilities and services you provided. Your commitment to excellence was evident in every aspect of the event, from the immaculate condition of the playing field to the professionalism and courtesy of your staff members.
Moreover, I want to commend the Peninsula Power FC staff for their outstanding hospitality and responsiveness throughout the event. Your dedication and assistance were pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of the Kappa Pro Series Final, leaving a lasting positive impression on all attendees.” (Letter to PPFC from FQ)
The Women’s World Cup continues and hopefully by the time you read this we have progressed and the Matildas have advanced past France. The girls have certainly done our country proud and we are all behind them.
Please enjoy the football and facilities here today and safe trip home afterwards.

Welcome Eastern Suburbs to AJ Kelly for today’s game.
We have had some good battles with Easts over time.
2018 is a very memorable year where we met 3 times, all really tough games. That year we were lucky enough to come out on top.
I would like to thank all the Power supporters for coming out in their numbers to support us in our Australia Cup game.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the result we hoped for. I am extremely proud of the playing group for their efforts and the way we went about the game. We went toe to toe with Wellington Phoenix and took them all the way to 120 minutes.
We enjoyed the experience, while disappointed we can hold our heads high. I couldn’t have asked any more from the players and coaching staff.
I would also like to thank all the volunteers that made the night memorable for everyone. Thank you to all the past players that attended the Thursday night Australia Cup jersey presentation. It was great to see you all and acknowledge the foundations laid by the past players.
Get behind the boys and enjoy today’s game.

Matches played (must make 30 fixture matches to qualify) Players in bold currently in squad
• Redlands United vs Brisbane City
Redlands United don’t need much to stay up this season. A single point or Olympic NOT to win one of their three remaining games. You’d think it would be a proud achievement but that long ball football is crap and should be in QPL.
Brisbane City couldn’t capitalize on Lions not gaining all three points, losing to MBU and handing fourth spot to their rivals. It’s been a pretty good season really but they won’t make the four. Did anyone think they would?
I hope Redlands lose all their games to make it interesting. This game should start the sequence because City are better. Prediction: City 3-1
• Gold Coast Knights vs Lions FC
Gold Coast Knights clearly have a plan to conquer the world of football, at least in Australia, and it’s working at the moment. They won the silly Kappa Cup thing, they’ll win the league and they’ll also put Lions away this weekend.
Lions FC are fourth which by their standards is terrible, we have to be honest. Will they finish in the four? Probably? Will they then go on to make a finals run and win the Grand Final? Maybe. Is it good for the game that the richest club isn’t winning? Definitely. This could be a high standard of football. It could be an intriguing contest. It could be anything really but one thing it will be is a win for Knights. Prediction: GCK 2-0
• Peninsula Power vs Eastern Suburbs
Peninsula Power haven’t had a memorable season but they’ve done well enough. No team is going to be dominant forever. They can still make the top four but common sense says they won’t simply because Lions need to lose all of their remaining games.
Eastern Suburbs are relegated and we all saw that coming quite some time ago. It had to be someone and this year it’s the Tigers but they’ve got a long history of showing spirit so I’m expecting them to come straight back up.
Peninsula will have suffered an emotional blow from that loss to Wellington. Is it positive or negative? The end of season trip is not far away. Prediction: Power 3-1
• Sunshine Coast Wanderers vs Gold Coast United
Sunshine Coast Wanderers played their Grand Final two weeks ago when they beat Redlands United and avoided relegation so they have little to play for. It looks like replacing Arnie with Kevin Evans was a good idea.
Gold Coast United will be trotting out the old lines about “it isn’t over until it’s over” and “anything can happen in football” and “you can only concentrate on yourself” but it IS over and they are going to finish second or third.
Wanderers literally have nothing to play for except pride. Of course they’ll give everything like every team always does but it won’t be enough. Prediction: GCU 2-0
• Brisbane Roar Youth vs Moreton Bay United
Brisbane Roar Youth have been gutted by the A-League team. A huge crop of talented players have been pilfered for training reasons. How that relates to the performance today, who can tell? Still some good players though.
Moreton Bay United shouldn’t really have much motivation at the moment because they are going to finish in the top four in either second or third place meaning that whatever happens they will be playing GCU in the finals.
Who knows what can happen in football. Everything points to MBU winning this game but I’m going for the upset just because I want to. Prediction: BRY 2-1
• Olympic FC vs Rochedale Rovers
Olympic FC will know deep down that they will be relegated. By the time this game kicks off they’ll probably already BE relegated. Can’t be a lot of motivation right now, especially after losing the Kappa Cup final.
Rochedale Rovers started the year poorly but still have a slim chance of making the finals. They’ll be relieved not to be in a relegation battle more than anything you would imagine. Nothing worse than playing Sunday night at 6pm.
By the time this game kicks off it will be effectively a dead rubber so no one will really care about the result apart from the players. Prediction: Olympic 2-1

The boys have had a few good weeks since last report. A tough draw away at Rochedale with some good chances to win then an excellent home win over GCU. We also play Lions away midweek on 9th August which is a big game for the group. A win sees us keep third spot.
The boys should hold their head high and be proud of their efforts so far. Let’s keep going and play some finals football.

The senior women continue to improve and play an exciting brand of football, with the month of July seeing us inflict only Lions FC second loss in the past three seasons, and over 70 games. Our ladies started the game on fire, up 4-0 at home in 22 minutes, eventually holding out for a 4-3 win.
This then followed with three away games in a row, that saw us win all three, with 9 goals for and 1 against. This also saw us secure finals football for 2023 and has us sitting in second place with three games to play, and a home semi-final against Eastern Suburbs. As both East's and Power can't fall below third position, we will battle it out over the last three rounds for a home semi. Our last three fixtures will be against Sunshine Coast Wanderers on Friday night, then Eastern Suburbs followed by Gold Coast United.
We have also seen Alicia (Tish) Woods, leave for a trial for Atletico Balearas (Spanish Third Division side), we wish her all the best for the future.
On a sombre note, gun young winger, Kiara Rychvalski, injured her shoulder in Saturday night's win, and will be out for 4-6 weeks. We are wishing her a speedy recovery, and fingers crossed she may be available for finals.
The girls would love to see all Power supporters getting behind the squad on the run home and our finals campaign.
We welcome back All Inn Brewing Co. as a sponsor for the club!
We are serving All Inn Brewing Co. on tap and in the can bar at AJ Kelly Park! sure to pick up one (or a couple) when supporting our teams this weekend!

• Tell us about your football career, where you started and what you have achieved. I learnt to play football at 15yo with the Spanish community here is Brisbane and fell in love with the game instantly. I previously played for AC Carina in the BPL before taking a huge leap to play for, and now captain at, Peninsula Power in the NPL.
I am the current captain for the Australian Indigenous Women’s Football team- the Koala’s, playing and helping to build a legacy for my Indigenous community to showcase their amazing footballing talent on the national stage.
• Describe your playing style. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I am a right full back. Although we are solid in building up from the back and have one of the best defensive lines in the league, I enjoy running the line and assisting the attacking play any chance I can. I scored 7 goals last season so I’m hoping to knock a few away this year. I have no weaknesses.
• Do you have any pregame routines or superstitions
I always get a good nights rest the night before a game and have the music play list sorted for the ladies.
• Describe one of your unforgettable football moments.
I have two - Definitely scoring a header in the 2022 Koalas Vs Wanderers match and being named the Pen Power Captain of the best team I’ve ever played with.
• Who are your football heroes?
Kyah Simon and Ellie Carpenter.
• What are your interests and hobbies outside of football?
Love hanging out with my three beautiful children. You will usually find us at the beach or scoping out the newest playgrounds.
• What are you looking forward to this season with Power?
We have such good chemistry amongst the squad this year, and it reflects on game days.
We have a lot to prove coming from FQPL1, but I think our position in NPL has already shown we are here to stay.
I’m excited to continue building on our strength, making creative plays and leading the team into finals.
Sun,
