Interactive, social activity and basic movement with balance practice and ball circle. Collaborative activities help maintain strength, balance and coordination. Includes Matter of Balance, Chair Yoga and Brain Gym exercises. Facilitated by Marshall Mittnick and Carolyn Pressley. Free, no registration necessary. F.I.T. (Fun Interval Training) Mondays, November 2 - 30, 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. East Belfast Elementary School gym, 14 Swan Lake Avenue, Belfast A fun fitness class intended for all levels led by Mirja Pitkin. F.I.T. is structured to improve the three primary aspects of fitness: strength, cardiovascular capability and range of motion. Class includes a comprehensive warm-up followed by cardiovascular intervals alternating with strengthening exercises. The class ends with abdominal work and stretching. No registration necessary. November Parkinson’s Support Group Meeting Tuesday, November 3, Noon to 1:45 p.m. Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden In the first half of the November gathering, exercise physiologist Carol Witham will lead participants in relaxation exercises while Jessica Kent, LMT, of Embody Massage & Yoga offers an optional session on guided meditation. The second half of the meeting will be devoted to honoring Parkinson’s caregivers in recognition of National Family Caregivers’ Month. Free & open to those living with Parkinson’s, their family members and caregivers. No registration necessary. Mother’s Milk Support Group Tuesdays, November 3 - 24, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Pen Bay Medical Center Chapel Room, 6 Glen Cove Drive, Rockport The Mother’s Milk Network is a support group for breast feeding families. The format is informal. It provides group interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Pregnant moms wanting more information about breast feeding are also welcome. Beginner Zumba Tuesdays, November 3 - 24, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Belfast Dance Studio, 109 High Street, Belfast Led by Nicki Dunbar, the class is tailored to the beginner exerciser and those whose bodies are asking them to move a little more gently. Zumba® for Beginners blends Latin and International music with the songs you know and love, for a dynamic, exciting and effective dance workout that is simple to learn. The goals are to increase strength, flexibility, agility and balance while burning calories. Chairs will be provided for those that need a quick break. Freshstart Smoking Cessation Classes Tuesdays, November 3 - 24, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Picker Family Resource Center, 756 Commercial Street, Rockport Freshstart is a free program designed to help you quit smoking in two weeks. Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group Tuesday, November 3, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. (First Tuesday of each month) Anderson Inn, Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden The Alzheimer’s Support Group provides information and support to area residents who have loved ones coping with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Gentle Yoga Wednesdays, November 4 - 25, 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Belfast Dance Studio, 109 High Street, Belfast This basic yoga class, led by Lisa Newcomb, is geared for the beginner yoga student but all levels are welcome. We will spend this time easing into our bodies through breath work & gentle connecting postures in order to allow for more space to open in both body and mind. There will be time in each class for a restorative posture and a final deep relaxation. No previous experience necessary. No registration required. Come share your wisdom and experiences with other survivors and people who care, while learning more about how you can live better with cancer. Come share your wisdom and experiences with other people who are caregivers, while learning more about how you can do the job effectively and keep yourself healthy at the same time. Waldo County General Hospital's Holiday Fair Friday, November 13, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Hospital Classroom, 118 Northport Ave., Belfast The 18th annual Holiday Fair items for sale will include handmade soaps and lotions, jewelry, textiles, white elephant items and baked goods. Some of the artists represented are hospital staff members while others are area craftspeople. The fair offers unique gifts in a relaxed shopping atmosphere in all price ranges. Open to the community, come join the fun. This is a fundraiser for the hospital’s community wellness program.
