January Events Pen Bay Medical Center & Waldo County General Hospital Alzheimer's Disease Support Group Tuesday, January 4, 6:00 p.m. Virtual Meeting The Alzheimer’s Support Group provides information and support to area residents who have loved ones coping with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Gentle Birth Tuesdays, January 4 - 25, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Virtual class Enjoy this new approach to child birth class that combines brain science, birth science and technology to empower your positive birth through preparation. This class will include training and education in mindfulness, hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and sports psychology. A mobile app will also be able to enhance the learning experience. Breastfeeding Class Wednesday, January 5, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Virtual class This single two-hour class provides a pre-birth opportunity to ask questions and learn about breastfeeding and returning to work. Happy Wanderers Hiking Group: Fernald's Neck Preserve Thursday, January 6, 10:00 a.m. to noon Fernald's Neck Preserve, Lincolnville Coastal Mountains Land Trust is launching into the new year with monthly guided hikes, free and open to all ability levels. This hike is 1.8 miles and the level is moderate. This hike will be led by CMLT staff members and a PBMC Community Health Improvement team member. Eating Better on a Budget Mondays, January 10 - 31, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Virtual class Join SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educators from Knox and Waldo counties for this free four-week class that will give you the skills to shop, cook and eat healthy foods while stretching your SNAP dollars and staying within your grocery budget. Easy Going Yoga 2 Tuesdays, January 11 - February 15, noon to 1:00 p.m. Virtual class Easy Going Yoga is designed with the mature student in mind, who has participated in an Easy Going Yoga class previously. Join Antonia Small from the comfort of your own home via Zoom for this mid-day class, which will progress and develop your confidence in the postures learned in Intro to Easy Going Yoga. This class is designed with the mature student in mind, but is suitable for anyone looking to take an easy going mid-day class. Concussion Support Group Tuesday, January 18, noon to 1:00 p.m. Virtual meeting Healing from a brain injury takes a long time. Join facilitator Moriah Grant, OTD, OTR/L, for this informative and interactive support group where you can share your struggles with concussion; learn more about concussions, treatment and outcomes; and connect with others who have had similar experiences. Naloxone Training Monday, January 24, noon to 1:00 p.m. Virtual class Naloxone is a life-saving medication that is used to counter the effects of drugs like heroin and prescription narcotics. Join providers from Pen Bay Medical Center to learn how to use naloxone to save the life of anyone who is experiencing an opioid overdose.
