Eating Better on a Budget Mondays, January 4 – February 1, 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. No class January 18 Virtual class Join SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educators from Knox and Waldo counties for this free four-week class that will give you the skills to shop, cook and eat healthy foods while stretching your SNAP dollars and staying within your grocery budget. There will be recipe demonstrations at each fun and interactive virtual session. All participants will receive a colorful cookbook with 24 healthy, low-cost recipes and nutrition tips! Virtual Breastfeeding Support Group Tuesdays, January 5 – 26, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Virtual class A support group for breastfeeding families. The informal group provides interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Women wanting more information about breastfeeding are also welcome. Facilitated by a lactation consultant from OB/GYN. Please call 301-8337 for more information. This group is free but preregistration is required in order to obtain access to virtual access. Alzheimers Disease Support Group Tuesday, January 5, 6:00 p.m. Virtual Meeting The Alzheimer’s Support Group provides information and support to area residents who have loved ones coping with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Currently the group is meeting via Zoom. Free. Those interested in participating should contact Cheri R. Blouin, LSW at 301-6237 or at cblouin@pbmc.org for the meeting details. Breastfeeding Basics Tuesday, January 5, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Virtual class This two hour class provides a pre-birth opportunity to ask questions and learn about breastfeeding and returning to work. Pre-registration is required in order to obtain access to virtual access. Please call 301-8337 to register. GentleBirth Wednesdays, January 6 – 27, 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. Virtual class Enjoy a new approach to child birth class combining brain science, birth science and technology to empower your positive birth through preparation. This class will include training and education in mindfulness, hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and sports psychology. A mobile app will also be able to enhance the learning experience. Advance Care Planning Workshop Tuesday, January 12, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Virtual class Advance care planning is an organized process of reflecting upon and discussing goals for future health care decisions. It is an important part of creating an advance directive, which is a written plan that represents your individual preferences and tells others what medical care you want or do not want to receive if you become too ill in the future to tell them. Join trained advance care planning facilitator Vikki Swan for this online workshop where you will begin the process of filling out your advance directive. Preparing for Childbirth Tuesdays, January 12 – 26, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Virtual class Whether you are expecting your very first child or are welcoming a sibling into your family, being prepared for childbirth is a priority. Join Leah Kohlstrom, doula and childbirth educator, for this engaging virtual class to learn all about childbirth, including how to plan for delivery, the stages of labor and caring for your newborn. This class will answer your questions so you can better prepare for your birthing experience. $60 registration fee is required and covers mom and partner. Postpartum Support Group Thursdays, January 14 & 28, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Virtual class This support group was created by a group of women and moms, who have gone through challenging postpartum experiences themselves and/or have been educated on them. We offer a safe place for new and pregnant mothers and families to talk, listen, get support and gain education on postpartum experiences. This is a free group for moms, moms-to-be and family members who want to connect with others. The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. For more information, please call 505-4140. Hack Your Grocery List Thursday, January 14, noon to 12:30 p.m. Virtual class Are you ready to achieve your financial goals this year? Sticking to your grocery budget is a great place to start. Bring your lunch, grocery list and an enthusiasm for couponing to this lunchtime webinar to learn how to hack your next trip to the grocery store. You’ll learn how to apply the MyPlate concept to your grocery cart, in-store tips for saving money, and things to know before you go to the store. We’re going to raid your pantry together and come up with meal ideas that not only fit MyPlate, but your budget as well. Naloxone Training Tuesday, January 26, noon to 1:00 p.m. Virtual class Naloxone is a life-saving medication that is used to counter the effects of drugs like heroin and prescription narcotics.
