Eating Better on a Budget Mondays, November 30 – December 21, 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Virtual class Want to learn how to prepare healthy foods on a limited budget? Join SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educators from Knox and Waldo counties for this free four-week class that will give you the skills to shop, cook and eat healthy foods while stretching your SNAP dollars and staying within your grocery budget. There will be recipe demonstrations at each fun and interactive virtual session. All participants will receive a colorful cookbook with 24 healthy, low-cost recipes and nutrition tips! Virtual Breastfeeding Support Group Tuesdays, December 1 – 29, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Virtual class A support group for breastfeeding families. The informal group provides interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Women wanting more information about breastfeeding are also welcome. Facilitated by a lactation consultant from OB/GYN. After you are registered, shortly before the class starts you will receive an email with information as to how to participate in the class. Alzheimers Disease Support Group Tuesday, December 1, 6:00 p.m. Virtual Meeting The Alzheimer’s Support Group provides information and support to area residents who have loved ones coping with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Currently the group is meeting via Zoom. Free. Those interested in participating should contact Cheri R. Blouin, LSW at 301-6237 or at cblouin@pbmc.org for the meeting details. Take a Break with Guided Meditation Monday, December 7, noon to 12:30 p.m. Virtual class Making time in your day to recharge and relieve stress is important for your well-being and can be as simple as tuning in for this virtual class. Find a quiet spot and sign in for as much of this quick meditation break as you can. The class will begin with a 20 minute guided meditation, followed by five minutes of silent meditation. Postpartum Support Group Thursdays, December 10 & 24, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Virtual class The postpartum support group was created by a group of women and moms, who have gone through challenging postpartum experiences themselves and/or have been educated on postpartum experiences. We offer a safe place for new and pregnant mothers and families to talk listen, get support and gain education on postpartum experiences. This is a free group for moms, moms-to-be and family members who want to connect with others for support. The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Advance Care Planning Workshop Tuesday, December 15, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Virtual class Advance care planning is an organized process of reflecting upon and discussing goals for future health care decisions. It is an important part of creating an advance directive, which is a written plan that represents your individual preferences and tells others what medical care you want or do not want to receive if you become too ill in the future to tell them. Join trained advance care planning facilitator Vikki Swan for this online workshop where you will begin the process of filling out your advance directive.
