Pen Bay Healthcare & Waldo County Healthcare Sports Injury Prevention Clinic Saturday, August 1, 10:00 a.m. to Noon Waldo County YMCA, 157 Lincolnville Avenue, Belfast

Caitlin Cross, DPT, a physical therapist at Waldo County General Hospital’s Sports Physical Therapy Center will lead a Sport Injury Prevention Clinic for youth athletes in grades 6-12. Benefit Dinner: “A Taste of Bologna” Sunday, August 2, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden

Join internationally acclaimed food writer Nancy Harmon Jenkins for a talk on the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet. The dinner menu, prepared by visiting chef Stefano Corvucci, owner of the Culinary Institute of Bologna, will showcase traditional Bolognese fare. Maine-made ingredients such as FIORE Artisan Olive Oils & Vinegars will be featured. Chef Stefano will introduce and discuss each course as it is served, with complimentary wine pairings from Cellardoor Winery. Half of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the Music & Memory program at Quarry Hill, a music-based initiative designed to help those with dementia reconnect with their memories, their loved ones and themselves. StretchAround Mondays & Fridays, August 3 - 28, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 95 Court Street, Belfast

Designed to include older adults and those with physical limitations. Interactive, social activity and basic movement with balance practice and ball circle. Collaborative activities help maintain strength, balance and coordination. Includes Matter of Balance, Chair Yoga and Brain Gym exercises. Facilitated by Marshall Mittnick and Carolyn Pressley. Pool Party at Belfast City Park Pool Mondays, August 3 - 31, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Belfast City Park Pool, Northport Avenue, Belfast

This class includes a tour of the Birth Center and provides general information on what to expect during the birthing process. August Parkinson’s Support Group Meeting Tuesday, August 4, Noon to 1:45 p.m. Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden

Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care & Hospice occupational therapist Kristina DiSciullo, MS, OTR/L will offer those with Parkinson’s, their loved ones and caregivers tips on modifying everyday activities in order to make life safer, easier and more rewarding. Free & open to those living with Parkinson’s, their family members and caregivers.

Mother’s Milk Support Group Tuesdays, August 4 - 25, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Pen Bay Medical Center Chapel Room, 6 Glen Cove Drive, Rockport

The Mother’s Milk Network is a support group for breast feeding families. The format is informal. It provides group interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Pregnant moms wanting a little more information about breast feeding are also welcome. Facilitated by a Lactation Consultant from OB/GYN. This class is free, for more information, call 921-8345.

Kayak Tour on Belfast Bay Tuesday, August 4, Choose 4:00 to 5:15 p.m. or 5:45 to 7:00 p.m. Belfast Boathouse, 34 Commercial Street, Belfast

Our trips are led by Ray Wirth of Water Walker Sea Kayaks, LLC. Ray is a Registered Maine Guide and ACA-certified Open Water Instructor with years of experience paddling the waters of Midcoast Maine. Children ages 6-11 can paddle with an adult in a tandem kayak and ages 12 and up can paddle in a single kayak. $20 fee includes single or tandem kayak, gear and instruction. Ready to quit smoking? The Picker Family Resource Center invites you to attend the next session of the free Freshstart smoking cessation program. The program is designed to help participants stop smoking as quickly as possible. Essential oils differ from other plant products, including how they are produced and the ways they are used. Aromatherapist Nancy Lubin will speak about the way these powerful compounds are isolated and how they can be used safely to our advantage, including soothing aches and pains, cleaning the kitchen sink and simply smelling wonderful. Lubin started her first organic garden in 1972 and began working with essential oils in 1999. In 2013 she received her aromatherapy certification from Aromahead Institute and is continuing her study in clinical aromatherapy. Free, registration is required. Call 921-8950.
